We had dinner here last night, and it was fabulous! As first-time visitors, Gordon was extremely helpful in going over the menu and offering us samples of entrées. We ended up with the jambalaya, the artichoke dish, and a pulled pork sandwich. They were all top notch. We had bourbon cake for dessert. The potions were very generous and the price was budget friendly. We will definitely be back!

Any skeptics can try the Jambalaya and have some of the best Cajun food north of Louisiana. The owner is always happy to serve food and make sure everyone is well fed. One of the few places where the owner is talking and working directly with customers. A must-stop location if youre anywhere in the state.

We were welcomed in, and before ordering, the staff was so friendly, giving us samples of each favorite dish. All tasted delicious, and I decided on the sausage shrimp okra gumbo, which was served with baguettes and rice. Killer!!

I can't decide which dish was my favorite—they were all so good. We also tried the bourbon cake, which was delicious as well. It's a hole-in-the-wall dive type place, but it has such a great vibe. This is my yearly pilgrimage to Lexington and Bourbon and Toulouse is always part of it. Year after year the food is consistently amazing! The staff are kind and the decor is colorful and fun. Today I had the black beans and sausage and the Cajun chili. 10/10. My daughter had the black beans and sausage and jambalaya also a 10/10. If you’ve never been here you need to come. You’ll thank me later. It is worth it every single time.

First visit and it was outstanding. Service was great and restaurant has an enchanting vibe. Staff was helpful and provided samples with suggestions. I got Chicken Etouffée and White Chili w/ Chicken. My wife got Cajun Red Chili and Chicken Etouffée. Bread and West 6th beer were wonderful complements. Both meals were delicious. Excited to return.

The turkey etouffee is a Holiday special, but so worth the wait. The sandwiches and hotdogs are also amazing. They have a wide variety of drinks and special sauces as well. Highly recommend

The environment stresses me out a little bit as it's very narrow, crowded, and dark, but their food is awesome! Definitely a place i enjoy for take-out rather than dining in. I don't think I've had anything I didn't like, and the huge selection of hot sauces is a fun addition to the already excellent food. Service is also consistently quick (how friendly the employees are can be hit or miss, but that doesn't bother me). It's also a unique option when we have visitors who need gluten-free meals.

Food was absolutely amazing, super flavorful, not super pricey and HUGE portions. The vibe is super chill and the staff was just 5 stars alone. Really friendly and quick to service you without making you feel rushed. Highly highly recommend

EVERYTHING was authentic! Like being back in NOLA during my college days! Etouffee stellar! Red bean & rice perfect!! Cajun chili dog hit the stop for this Texas Gal!!SERVICE QUICK and fun! Ambiance COLORFUL with plethora of Mardi Gras beads adornment and every table and chair painted in a palette of colors to enhance the joy of spicy Cajun flavors on your tongue! AND THE MUSIC a perfect blend welcoming us with Proud Mary rolling on the river to Peter Frampton and the Stones to Credence Clearwater Rival!! Combined to transfer us back to New Orleans on the Delta! It's a MUST VISIT in Lexington for a pure authenticity taste of Cajun delight!!

Very very friendly staff and they allowed me to sample the food before I decided what I wanted to get. I got a take out but the space seemed very family friendly and packed with happy people chatting as they enjoyed their meal. Very affordable too and I loved the bread more than anything!

The Fat Man wanted some good Cajun cuisine. So, the wife and I headed up to Bourbon n' Toulouse to grab some treats from the bayou. B&T serves Cajun Creole specialties (including many gluten-free options) in simple, colorful surroundings. I got a full order 1/2 and 1/2. One dish I tried was the Chicken Étouffée. This is made with a spicy roux-based brown gravy, shredded chicken, and rice. The roux was dark and rich, and the chicken was very tender. This dish had a great heat level, although heavy on the pepper. The rice was perfectly cooked and fluffy. This is their #1 selling dish. The other half of my dinner was Cajun Red Chili. This is made with a spicy tomato base chili, beef, pork and is served over rice. This dish had many big chunks of meat with a sweet flavor on the front and a good heat level. The tomatoes offer good texture and acid to this award-winning dish. Neither dish was overwhelmingly hot, and they both were full of flavor. My wife tried a 1/2 order of White Chili w/ Chicken. This is made with mild white chili, great northern beans, chicken, and red bell peppers with herbs and spices. This chili was thick and cooked well. The beans offered some texture and a chew. The seasoning on the chicken was flavorful and tender. It was mild with a low heat level. This dish is also award-winning. They serve sliced baguette bread on the side with every meal. It was crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside, with a nice amount of garlic butter. They also have a large number of hot sauces to go along with their food. I liked the Cajun Power Garlic. It offered some good heat with a sweet pop and a great garlic punch. B&T serves half, full, and half-and-half orders of their dishes. Along with Cajun and Creole classics, they also serve sandwiches and vegetarian and vegan dishes. The staff is amiable, and the food comes quickly. This is a small place, so there may be a wait. The Fat Man says that Bourbon n' Toulouse is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.

Worth the hype for sure! The food is great, simple but flavorful and very reasonably priced. Huge portions, too. The service is excellent and everyone is really friendly. I appreciate that they offer samples, I've never seen another restaurant do that and it's nice being able to try something before you order it. The restaurant itself has a really cool vibe, lots of interesting decorations and a good amount of seating. Highly recommend!

Classic Lexington spot. Great if you're visiting Lex, want to get lunch, or in the area. Plates are hearty, cheap, atmosphere is great and relaxed. Owner/staff are super friendly. This place just slaps. They also recently started displaying art after the schools cut art-funding, so theyre ethical too. Havent tried the new location, but i've heard similar things. Will always come back!

Lots of flavor , great pricing ( hard to find nowadays ) when everything is a $15 and up plate. Everything was good except the crawfish tasted fishy. Would prob just get chicken instead next time . Service was great , everyone was friendly . On the salty side, but if you put enough rice with it should be ok. I would suggest get take out and make your own rice at home , bc I'm not used to this type of rice . The texture is off for me, I prefer jasmine or Japanese short grain. This rice taste more like orzo .

B&T have the best food in Lexington. Hands down! I've eaten here for a lot of years. Oh I love my steakhouses and Chinese but my most fav is here at B&T!! No fancy decor but the food and service is impeccable, I'd actually fight whoever says a bad word about this place or the sincere staff! OOOOhhhhaweeee!!

Food smells and tastes amazing, service is fast and quick to serve, its order at the counter but has lots of seating. The vibe is fun and chill. Very Louisiana style decor and seasoning. Serving sizes are large and we got two orders of half and half plenty for two people.

On a roadtrip and stopped by to pickup some takeout. Ordered a 1/2 and 1/2 of Chicken Étouffée & Jambalaya . I am not an expert on cajun cooking, but this was really tasty.

Best Cajun food EVER!! Cajun food is my favorite and I have yet to have Cajun food anywhere in my life that rivals NOLA Cajun food and BNT does. The red beans and rice is INCREDIBLE. Everything is. My husband loves their etouffees. everytime I am in lex I have to grab BNT. Down and dirty spot (everything comes in styrofoam containers), a few spots to eat there and lots of to go business.

Food: D@mn well delicious! I suggest doing the 1/2 and 1/2 with the chicken étouffée and red beans and sausage. Huge servings,,, and you will want it because you just cant get enough! Service: after finding out we had not been here before, the guy at the counter ran us through the entire menu and answered all questions before they were even asked. This place is the bomb.com.. I'm from Texas, and make it a point to go out of my way to stop here every time I'm near Lexington! Best Shrimp/Crawfish Étouffée and fresh bread ever!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! You won't be disappointed!

some of the best food comes from hole in the wall places. Our kids love this place, now we know why. The guys running the place were over the top. they even gave us a sampler tray to help decide what we wanted.

The flavor and the speed of service of this place is amazing. The prices are great and the portion size is perfect and if you get the full plate, you will probably have leftovers. The dine in area isn't the biggest but it's tidy and the restaurant has a mom and pops feel to it.

Large portion sizes served on rice and with garlic bread. Friendly staff willing to offer samples of any dishes. Fun and festive atmosphere. Did not charge for soda - free refills available. Order at counter and seat yourself. The gumbo and red beans with sausage were fabulous! We need to return to try others!

Bourbon & Toulouse is serving up their Mardi Gras Specials. You still have today and tomorrow, Fat Tuesday, to grab one of them. I had to have the Swamp Dog, Alligator Sausage with Crawfish Etouffee. Tasty, with a bit of heat. There could haven been more heat and more Etouffee, but I enjoyed it. Order online for pickup so you don't have to wait on line.

So bomb.com. I'm glad I don't live in LEX because I'd gain a million pounds eating here every day. So good. Gumbo off the chain. All hot sauces I tried were awesome. People super nice.

Oh hey Bourbon n' Toulouse! You've increased your vegan options since the last time I've been here and I am impressed! I'm updating my review and increasing my opinion to 5-stars :) The delicious Vegan Black Beans are still a staple here. They've also added Tofu Creole. Sadly it was sold out on the day we were here but perhaps that's a sign that it's a popular dish. The Vegan BBQ Jackfruit sandwich with Vegan Coleslaw is AMAZING! Saucy, smoky, spicy, the coleslaw was a nice crunchy-cool contrast which on it's own is also spicy. The portion size was perfectly filling. So, to start out, this place is a hole in the wall. But, in this case, that is not a bad thing. Cajun food is often found in the most down & "dirty" places known to man (in quotes, as the place itself has a "dirty" vibe, although it is clean. What to love? Pretty much everything. Where else can you go and get a huge plate of food and a beer, add a decent percentage tip, and get out for less than $20 (even cheaper if you take my forthcoming advice). Atmosphere? Divey. The place is cluttered and extremely colorful. Fairly smalle with about 10-12 tables total across two rooms. Kitchen open enough you can see them cooking and pretty much everything is something that can be slapped on a tray quickly. Fortunately, kept at a good temperature the beans did not become spackling paste, which is very easy to do. Food? I ordered a half and half; Chicken Piquant and red beans & sausage. Considering the $9.50 price, I figured an okay sized portion. Nope. I was not able to eat it all. Advice: If you are not a big eater, opt for the quarter quarter for $7.50 for about half the amount of food (not as great a deal, but your stomach might like you better). My friend got chicken and shrimp etoufee (two types). Chicken was mild (she said medium), shrimp was hotter (oh, how I wish I could still eat shellfish). How is the food? Wonderful. Yeah, it is no foodie paradise, but absolutely on point for cajun food. The red beans and sausage are more creole level spiced. The piquant more on the slight burn (my friend found it too hot - I added a bunch of the extra hot from the kitchen (habenero, so not too extra hot)). I would say piquant more on the cajun side, but mild enough for most people (and you can always pep it up. They have a sauce "bar" with tons of options. The Cajun Powder Garlic was the tastiest, especially mixed with the hotter sauce (you get that from the kitchen). The hottest sauces were Texas Pete and Frank's, so nothing stellar sitting in the "bar". I would have liked to see some Slap Yo' Mama seasoning, but they only had Chachere's sitting out (I find it milder and less interesting than Slap. Beer in cans at $2.50 a can. I grabbed a can of the West 6th IPA and the bill came to $12 plus tax. It was the best sounding of the options they had. Overall, a very pleasant experience and somewhere I would try again.

A Lexington staple and one of my all time favorite restaurants! B&T has a laid back atmosphere with friendly staff and the food is consistently delicious. I always get a half plate of chicken étouffée + half plate of black beans and corn. The bread is amazing so I recommend getting extra!

This place you could miss if you are not careful. This is a gem in Lexington that transports you to New Orleans. First the menu is inexpensive and fits right in to a college town. But the most important the food is delicious. My daughter and I split the vegetarian Thai peanut sauce with baby corns and rice. It was a half order and was huge for 6 dollars. My husband got the red beans and sausage and he was a happy man They had all kinds of hot sauces to choose from. What a treat and I wish I lived closer.

Stopped for lunch on our way to the distillery. Decor reminded me of a campus eatery inside. Our meals were authentic gumbo seasoning and very tasty. Service was quick and employees friendly.

This is such a cute local place. It is a casual, comfortable, fun Creole restaurant. From outside it is very unassuming but don't let that sway you from walking in! We were greeted with a smile and friendly welcome. I have the corn and bean along with jambalaya. Both were very different flavors but amazing taste. I Loved that I could order a quarter of each to taste more. . My husband had the red beans and rice and was happy with his meal as well. I sampled his potato salad and even loved it. Highly recommend this place.

I had the Shrimp Etouffee and Gumbo, and everything was absolutely devine! I'm from the Deep South and am picky about Cajun food, but this place is perfection. Great prices and incredibly nice staff aren't the only reasons I love this place. The flavor, textures, and consistency of all the food is remarkable. Plus, the interior has the relaxed and fun vibe of southern Louisiana. Bravo! You all are the best!

As someone from New Orleans this food really is comparable! The spice is perfect and everything we got was so good and authentic! We got shrimp etouffee, southwest etoufee w crawfish and the chicken sausage jambalaya! All very very good. the french bread was also fantastic! I would've taken pictures but it was too good to stop eating!

It was very inexpensive. I expected a large more festive place. It's kind of homey and the plates were huge. The food was ok. Not sure I would run back but we're glad we checked it out on our first night in Lexington.

For those of you who have eaten at restaurants in the Indianapolis area, this place reminds us of Yats in that the Cajun food is hot, consistent, and affordable. In addition, they have a few vegetarian options, although the night we walked in, every vegetarian item on the menu was sold out. Every single one. It's a hole-in-the-wall dive, but the food was delicious and the service was top notch. The portions are large enough that neither of us could finish what we ordered, so we had leftovers. I suspect the local college students hit this place frequently since you get a big bang for your buck. I was surprised at how spicy my meal was without adding any extra sauces to it. (There are several squeeze bottles of various sauces on a table just to the left of the cash register for patrons to try) Don't get me wrong. It wasn't too much spice, but I did grab a few extra napkins to blow my nose a few times. If I hadn't Yelped Lexington restaurants, I would have missed this place entirely. It has a very unassuming store front, right next to the Chevy Chase Inn. Once again, Yelp and my fellow Yelpers directed us to a great dinner experience!

Very much a hole in the wall once you enter it's a colorful and eclectic spaces with a no nonsense menu. Following the lead of some locals ordered the Chicken étouffée, while the silverware and plates were something you'd find at a family picnic the food is something out of this world. Filled with flavor I added some different sauces (they had over 15!) and with the bread so sop up and left over. This plate was clean within minutes and I left satiated - if you ever find yourself nearby and craving a small smackeral of food stop by here.
