Out of the Top 10 "most interesting Vietnamese foods I've ever had"/food I never had prior to moving here, list... this is on it.
I'm still not exactly sure what I ate, but I liked it (liked it, in terms of tasting like local Vietnamese cuisine), and it's cheap. 2 eggs is 32K ($1.30); 5K ($0.20) per egg. Using Google Translate, I tried to request runny eggs... I don't think it happened.
I dipped the deep-fried dough (if that's what it is), egg, and the veggie topping in the soy sauce cup the lady gave me. It seems like most just poured the soy sauce over the entire dish.

My entire childhood was wrapped up around these two dishes: gỏi khô bò and bột chiên. This was an after-school dish if you asked any Vietnese who grew up in Vietnam in the 80's (not sure about the kids nowadays). There were these carts in front of every school in Saigon. This shop owner's interpretation of "bột chiên" was right on point. The food was fresh and delicious. I will make a habit of coming back here again even though it is kinda out of the way for me. Highly recommended!

You can get carrot cake for cheap here. It’s 26k for a portion that has an egg and shredded papaya to eat with the carrot cake. It’s like a good snack option if you are still feeling a little bit hungry after your meal. It is located on a super busy small street.

11/10 points. Worth the calorie splurge day. Small, super local bot chien restaurant that is nonstop busy. Thank you so much Google reviewers for sharing this restaurant. I am leaving another review to help others discover the magic of this must try dish.
The staff kindly found a seat for me and my travel partner. The place was packed with locals dining in, waiting for takeout, and delivery drivers. They offer crispy rice flour bot chien with no egg, 1 egg, or two eggs. It's topped with shredded, green papaya. I ordered 2 plates of bot chien with 2 crispy runny eggs for 64k (32k per plate) for 2 people. There is also another dish on the menu with dried beef and green papaya salad. Garlic chili sauce, chiles, and chile sauce available on table. Highly recommended for tourists and foreigners. Bring cash!

Simply the best bot chien I’ve ever had, ever. Incredible!! The cubes are perfectly fried but not overdone and it’s clear they use clean oil. One egg is enough for most people but make it two eggs for hungry people and it’s still only 30k. An absolute must try! Two tiny tables inside means this is best for takeaway. Avoid during rush hours - this street has horrible car and bus traffic. Enough parking space for only about 3 motorbikes.

Best bot chien in town, crunchy and savory. You can ask for crispy egg or runny egg, both are great.

So good delicious, nutritious and cheap food. Egg in a different concept. Plus the salad with dried meat. Must try. =)
