Bills Surry Hills is a vibe. Warm golden lighting, leather booths, proper relaxed energy. And honestly, one of the best things about living in Surry Hills is you can dodge the breakfast, lunch, or dinner rush, so it wasn’t packed at all. The whole place felt calm, like you’re not fighting for oxygen.
Service was great too. We got looked after by a tall, friendly lady who was switched on without hovering. That part was spot on.
Food though… mixed bag. The zucchini chips were ok. The eggplant entrée was ok not bad, just not memorable. The grilled steak was a little dry, and for a place like Bills, I expected it to hit harder than that.
The prawn linguine was the highlight. Easily the best thing we ate that dish actually delivered.
Dessert was a similar story to the mains: one hit, one “meh.” The pavlova was genuinely great. But the chocolate mousse was a bit too salty for my liking, so it was just ok.
Overall: beautiful ambience, great service, and a couple of standouts but not everything lived up to the hype.
