"One of the great things in Bethnal Green is that there are plenty of parks. This one is pretty nice, right next to the station, in front of the old library building. It is never too busy and always peaceful. Bring some nuts and make friend with the little squirrels of the park. They are not timid. If you want, there are even more squirrels in Museum gardens, on the other side of the Museum." - Mélanie Hubert-Crozet

Located directly opposite Bethnal Green underground station and intersecting on the old Roman road towards the famous and ever popular brick lane, and Mare street from Hackney Central, Bethnal Green Park is a hotspot of activities for young locals. On a bright sunny day expect to see this park dancing with hundreds of roller-skaters flowing rhythmically in circles outside the basketball courts, music blasting, people shooting hoops, kicking balls, the air a mash of musky fragrances. Like many London parks, it’s endowed with its own gymnasium, tennis courts and children’s playground... *but lacks a water fountain!?* (However free water is available inside the library, bring your own bottle!) The park hosts a lovely old Victorian library, with a domed spacious interior and pleasant atmosphere, with homeless people napping quietly on couches in corners. This park is also a sanctuary for local homeless seeking shelter and rest, thus expect to see the occasional tent and benches occupied by sleeping bags. Squirrels here are friendly and if encouraged with gladly approach and cautiously take food from your hands. A Great place for young local people to meet and exercise, study in the library and socialise on the open grasses.

Attended a roller skate event with a great atmosphere, parking was readily available on the main road. Nice facility for the locals to go and play basketball skate or simply stroll.

A nice park, with option of fun for all ages. It has sports courts, tennis courts, playground, outdoor gym, good areas for a picnic, and a library.

Multiple entrances with lush green grass. Very good for picnics and family get together. Very near the Bethnal green station.

Plenty of benches to sit, unfortunately the rats here are both a little too brazen and friendly. A little overgrown and appeared to be someone living in a tent. It's ok though, has lots of potential but wouldn't currently recommend for a picnic.
