On the Grid : Bethnal Green Gardens

"One of the great things in Bethnal Green is that there are plenty of parks. This one is pretty nice, right next to the station, in front of the old library building. It is never too busy and always peaceful. Bring some nuts and make friend with the little squirrels of the park. They are not timid. If you want, there are even more squirrels in Museum gardens, on the other side of the Museum." - Mélanie Hubert-Crozet

Fine, busy urban park with numerous basketball courts (hoops not in great shape). Next, park pavement is dedicated to many many talented roller skaters (not in-line skating) grooving to music. Impressive and uniquely London phenomenon. Lots of green space for lounging and picnicking.

Nice local Park to me. It has recently grown in popularity with scaters. Fairly new basket ball & Netball courts. Tennis courts that can be booked online. Convenient for walking the dog.

A nice big park where you can play basket ball or tennis or go to the library. It also has a small play ground for the kids and climbing frame. Unfortunately it's a bit run down, but still a lovely park to visit.

It is a beautiful garden to have a walk or spend some time! You may also spend some in the Library as well which is also a good place for the book lovers. It is always advisable to stay alert with your belongings!

Attended a roller skate event with a great atmosphere, parking was readily available on the main road. Nice facility for the locals to go and play basketball skate or simply stroll.

A nice park, with option of fun for all ages. It has sports courts, tennis courts, playground, outdoor gym, good areas for a picnic, and a library.

Multiple entrances with lush green grass. Very good for picnics and family get together. Very near the Bethnal green station.

Yelp
The tennis courts are great, but other than that, it's really not a lot of green for gardens. I was expected a tiny parks of some sort, but it's not escape here, still view of the road, and just not somewhere to sit and chill. Less complaint now that it's been edited to say that it's just tennis, and not somewhere picnic suitable! Oops!

Yelp
This is a great city run course for kids to learn tennis. Held in Tower Hamlets community open courts in Bethnal Green Gardens and Mile End Stadium. Apparently concern over the lack of tennis stars coming thru Wimbledon that are British (think Tim Henman or better yet don't !!) has provoked a course of funded tennis classes to be set up for kids in Tower Hamlets. Targeting children from ages 5-16 years old - hour long classes are available for £1.00/£2.00 - 3 times a week. Check schedule for specific age group coaching. My son goes on Thursdays and since it is outside courts -- classes have often been very rainy! However in true British fashion the classes are rarely cancelled and head coach Jaime has a pretty big weekly groups. He shows up with his kit including 30 kids tennis rackets, balls and assistant. The program has only been running for a year and have already had close to 3000 kids received some coaching. Expectations are high - watch out Wimbledon 2020!

Yelp
I have been playing tennis in the court for a few years. It has been working fine, I could easily book the court online through their system, straightforward and being able to confirm straight away. However, a very big down is which requesting the cancellation and refund due to the weather condition of the booked timeslot! I booked a court for two hours back in July, I had to email the support to cancel the booking because it was raining heavily. However, till now which is Sept, I have sent through 4 emails there has been no reply. It isn't a big sum of money but better to bear it in mind and check the weather before you book the court. If it rains it doesn't look like you could get your money back!
