Best Western Melbourne City Hotel

This hotel I found to be ideal as a traveller as its good value for money and clean and tidy. Its close to southern Cross station which makes it ideal for getting around on trains, trams and buses. The SKYBUS to and from the airport takes just 35 minutes and the hotel is easy walking distance. There is also lot of eateries around making for handy meals when you are busy like me. The decor is a little outdated and there is a distinct old smell about the place but nothing that really put me off. Take it as a step back in time as its not a modern hotel. The showers are great with lots of volume and warmth not the trickle you get in some hotels. My room had a desk and fridge and all that I needed. I slept well but those sensitive to a bit of train noise may be affected. Overall a great stay with lovely staff.

Budget accommodation in the city. Literally across the road from Southern Cross Station and a short walk to Marvel Stadium or anywhere else in the CBD. The free trams run past the hotel. Staff were friendly. Rooms were clean and quiet. I'd use it again for a cheap weekend away.

I arrived in the evening after crossing multiple time zones. I was hoping to adjust to the local time, but I could not sleep as the air conditioner was leaking onto my bed, making it wet. Not only is this unhygienic, but it is also unsafe. It was lucky my laptop was not damaged. As you can see from other reviews, I am not the only person to encounter this problem. Avoid this place and find somewhere else. they refused a refund. forcing me to pursue the matter externally.

Stayed on the bottom floor and the blocked out window made the small shoebox room feel like a prison cell. Extremely loud water pipes woke us up every night and you could hear everything outside your door. Friendly staff with 24hr front desk, excellent location, clean rooms. If you don't stay on the ground floor you should be able to avoid all the problems we had.

I stayed here quite a number of nights in November and December 2024. The room was just alright for me as a solo traveller. Friendly reception staff including Lorenzo and Rajesh. The location was superb. The Crown complex with a Village Cinema and a food court is quite literally almost just down the road, a 10-minute walk away, and the free tram system stop is just 30 metres away. The Southern Cross Station for the Skybus is an easy less than 10-minute walk away. Recommended👍👍👍👍👍

I have stayed here a few times over the years and the rooms are a little hit and miss. My most recent visit was in July 2023 for my birthday so I stayed 3 nights and the room whilst being OK, wasn't as good as previous visits. It felt tired and run down. The bed was essentially two single beds pushed together. Normally, this is fine but these beds were on wheels so the "double bed" kept separating. Aside from that, I love staying here as the rooms are normally a lot better and the location is perfect. A short walk from Spencer Street Station and they normally let me check in a little earlier if the room is ready. There is a 7/11, Dominoes, McDonalds and Coles all within a few minutes walk and the tram stops all within a couple of hundred meters that take you everywhere you need to go. Hopefully, for my next stay, they have upgraded the rest of the rooms that are a little warn out. Other than than, if you want great value budget accommodation, look no further.

We arrived to Australia as we are here for a year and decided to have a nice hotel for the week. ‘Nice’ is not the way to describe it. Our first room was tiny and the aircon was leaking so all night we heard the dripping. We told staff and they said they couldn’t do anything about it. We told them again and they moved us. Staff are amazing considering what they are given and it’s close to town. In my opinion don’t book here and go somewhere else.

Return visitors, very comfortable stay again. When they 'shoebox' they mean it so be aware if you have limited accessibility this isn't the place for you. Fabulous location right in the heart of the city can walk to everything,great access to public transport, price reflects the product.
