Best Friend Juice Bar & Cafe

I want to express my concerns about the owners of this establishment, as they were not good neighbors. I lived above them for three years and initially had no issues. Their music often filled my apartment on weekend mornings, and I found it comforting. However, I eventually encountered a problem related to something, and when I reached out to the owners, I was met with pushback and hostility. Their passive-aggressive behavior during our communication was truly disheartening. During the pandemic, I even defended the owners to my partner's coworkers, who are healthcare workers. However, I noticed that they were not following guidelines and were neglecting their responsibility to protect others by not wearing masks. Despite the challenges my partner, neighbors, and I faced due to their actions, I never received an apology from the owners for the impact their behavior had on us in order to benefit their business. Their employees are great and they make subpar overpriced “HEALTHY” smoothies.

I have so many wonderful things to say about this place. Some absolutely amazing creative coffee drinks and smoothies. In-house made baked goods and other snacks. Top tier dog treats. But the main draw is they have some of the friendliest and most down to earth baristas I've interacted with in this whole city. The owners are also a truly lovely married couple who cultivate an incredibly welcoming vibe. I live in the neighborhood and start almost every day here on my morning dog walk. Support local small businesses!

This place has some of the best smoothies (if not the best) I've ever tried. My partner introduced me to the Chocolate City and Crystal Almond Joy, which are both somehow fantastic in flavor yet healthy. Neither my partner nor I are into health foods as much as we should be, so it's awesome to find a place that specializes in natural ingredients, snacks, drinks, while maintaining deliciousness. Plus, the prices are actually surprisingly reasonable compared to other juice bars, you're really getting your money's worth here. The interior is pretty nice and cozy. Service quality varies, some employees are nicer than others and some are fasted than others, but overall a nice experience no matter what. I'm definitely addicted to the two aforementioned flavors and started continuing the recommendations for this place.

The Tony is so good - limey avocado toast with microgreens <3. The Mango smoothie was also really good.

We had to check this place out for their gluten-free and vegan options. The mango smoothie was filling. The Tony avocado toast okay. I’d be willing to pay more to get more avocado on my toast.

I love this little spot for a nutritious, indulgent breakfast on the weekend. The smoothies, acai bowls, and toast are all great but my top two faves are the AJ Toast and the Pina Colada smoothie. Best Friend Juice Bar & Cafe - for when you're hungover and need to replenish nutrients, when you want to get all your fruits and vegetables for the week in one meal, or when you want to feel good about what you had for breakfast for once. 😉 It is not a budget cafe but their ingredients are high quality and fresh so it's to be expected and they're comparable to other juice bars. I should also mention the folks who work there are very friendly, they always have hypnotic/groovy music playing, and they feature local art on the walls. All around great little neighborhood cafe.

Man oh man. In a world of boring drinks and smoothies, this place is a paradise. I absolutely love the PB Herman smoothie. I have never had a smoothie that good. When you read everything that's in it you might think it's overkill, but oh no, it's all necessary. There are different textures and tastes that change as you drink it. They also make it look beautiful (drank it before I got a picture). I will admit that the price makes this a special treat for me, but it's well worth it. The people there are kind and helpful. The inside has a fun, fresh, open vibe and has local art for sale. I recommend this place to everyone and their grandmas.

The hot toddy flu fighter juice was so good! As was the Golden Milk. The person who assisted me was sweet and really helpful in answering my questions and offering suggestions. And the space is small and cozy. My first time visiting here and I'll definitely be back for more.

Cute little cafe on the corner of a quiet neighborhood. I came after getting to know how nice and supportive the owners are of the vegan community. As a bonus, everything is gluten-free and safe for my celiac partner! Parking on the street was easy to find on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't very busy, though we saw a few people grab things to go. The inside of the cafe is super cute, with local art up on the walls for sale. There is also outdoor seating and the staff love to give out dog treats! There are several smoothie options, and some small light snacks, which made a great light lunch for me! My husband got a smoothified latte (basically a latte with a banana blended in) and a golden milk latte with a grilled cheese. I got the Jerry Berry and avocado rolls. Everything was delicious and refreshing, and service (from the one person on staff) was fast and friendly. I love having something like this on the SE side of town! Looking forward to trying more off the menu some other time!

Such a cute cafe! Me and bestie stopped in for some coffee and ended up with a few foodie choices too :) Everything delicious and we enjoyed our experience all around. Customer service was kind, food was good, coffee was good, space is cute and has lots of seating and bathrooms are available for customers. There is WiFi too but we didn't tap in. Would totally visit again when in town, I'm from Tucson so this is just one of several stops we made for vegan / vegan friendly options in Portland.

There are quite a few options to eat and drink so it was hard to decide. We ordered the grilled cheese and savory toast (the vito). It's a fantastic place for plant-based diets. There's also art you can purchase decorating the walls.

Absolutely fantastic service. The food options are amazing for anyone with a vegan/gf/dairy free diet. The employee behind the counter was so friendly, and the service was quick and delicious! I was able to customize a juice drink, and she was patient while I figured out what I wanted. The vibe inside is very welcoming and has a "stay and enjoy" feel rather than the "grab and go" that's so common now. Definitely recommend for anyone in the area!

we had a variety of things. Location is beautiful. Ambience is Beautiful. Super friendly Service. My favorite was the local we made pumpkin latte, chocolate city smoothie, the meadow was amazing. I have a very picky five-year-old that never wants to eat anything and he loved it. Definitely recommend the spot. My husband could not stop bragging about the blue rose latte he said it was the best beverage he's had in his life. Definitely a must if you're in town

I have ordered Uber eats from here in the past and this was my first time at the store itself! The neighborhood Best Friend Juice bar is located is adorable and plenty of street parking available. The juices and smoothies are fresh and made to order. I previously got the "mean greens" and preferred that over the "best friend" option I got on this trip. There is plenty of seating inside the restaurant, however keep in mind no outdoor seating so pet will need to stay home! The service was friendly however the tipping option starting at 20%, 25% and 30% was a little crazy . I totally understand inflation and how hard it is to be a service worker, however if the employees need that sort of additional compensation I think the business should look inward as to how they are compensating their employees and raise prices accordingly. I'm excited to come back and try their smoothie bowls and special toasts.

If you are looking for a fresh juice or smoothie, this is a great stop. If I lived nearby, I'd probably be a regular. They also have coffee, tea, and a few food options like açaí bowls and "toasts", but I'm not sure if they change often. I had these rolls, which were phenomenal. A great midday snack/light lunch with a smoothie. I would recommend them and the price is fair. For smoothies, I got the Jerry Berry one time and a Daryl Strawberry the other time, both delightful! I'll be back to try more. Overall, it really is the cutest little juice bar and the staff are friendly.

Really great spot! This was recommended by our air bnb host and it was a perfect way to start the day. We ordered a number of things but I especially loved the Daryl strawberry smoothie and the chai latte. Very calming and inviting atmosphere.

I Love this juice bar! I live in this neighborhood and you can't go wrong. They really support local here. You can find more then just delicious treats. For example local artists and plants.

Such a great little shop. It's open early on a Sunday, which is basically a public service. The place is full of good vibes. The person who made my smoothie (I got a Make Your Own) talked me through all the ingredients, and made a masterpiece. Love it

Great bowls that are super filling and tasty. We got the Green Smoothie Bowl, the Carmela Soprano Latte, and the Chocolate Smoothie Bowl and they were all delicious. I also bought their Margalaxy Cosmic Crunch Superfood Granola so I took a picture of the ingredients incase anyone wanted to know. The flavor profile of their granola is: Vanilla, Maple, and Cinnamon

Fantastic place! The staff is wonderful, smoothies are delicious, and they have a very clean place. I cant recommend this place enough if your in the mood for a real smoothie. I highly recommend the Daryl Strawberry i could drink that one all day everyday.

It's a neighborhood juice bar. You won't find anything exciting, but you will find fair prices and friendly service. I had a drip coffee and avocado toast with sprouts, pepper, and salt. The coffee was coffee, and the food was worth the $7 with tax. Great window seating for staring off while writing or reading.

Great spot for healthy drinks / food. Friendly staff and very inviting atmosphere. The artwork on the wall was definitely the cherry on top. Definitely coming back!

We were happy to have the opportunity to explore this hidden SE gem! We had never heard of Best Friend Juice Bar & Cafe before, but are very thankful to have had the opportunity to stop by and see what all the fuss was about. First off - perfect name - who doesn't want to go to a place with your Best Friend. Even if you went alone - they certainly made you feel like they were one of your good friends! It was very welcoming, warm and a nice place to step into. We were greeted with a warm welcome. We ordered/called ahead and our drinks, Pumpkin- Carmel Chai and Latte were waiting for us upon our arrival. COVID-19 friendly - quick in and out. They only allow 2 guests in the restaurant at once. While our trip this time was short and sweet for quick drink delicious Moon Balls, we will certainly be back to try out more wonderful smoothies and other yummy eats!

I started going to the cart when I used to work in that side of town, only to find out two years later they had their own cafe around the corner! Such a welcoming vibe, with super friendly staff. Overall an awesome spot that focuses on the healthy side of veganism and eating in general! PS: get the Crystal Almond Joy Smoothie (it is delectable and what your body needs!)

Based on previous reviews we were excited to try this place. Unfortunately we were disappointed by both the customer service and the food we got. While the shop itself is very cute, the food is overpriced and subpar. We ordered an Aloha and a Green smoothie bowl, both of which came with a very sparse amount of topping. As I was eating the bowl it wasn't even fully blended and I found multiple pieces of umblended spinach. We also got a carrot cake and appreciated that it was gluten free. Despite there only being one other customer we had to wait a pretty long time for our order and the workers did not seem in a good mood. Overall I would not recommend this place if you are looking for a good smoothie bowl especially for the price.

Visited Best Friend today for a quick Sunday bite with my friend. I had tried their Chocolate Açaí Bowl and Iced Lavender Latte before as a delivery but this was my first official visit! The cafe is small and adorable with very friendly and hard working staff. Lots of artwork on the walls and hanging plants. You can walk in to order in person and they will bring you your order or call your name if you wait further away. I tried "The Vito" Avocqdo Toast and Chai Oatmilk Latte. The Avo Toast was AMAZING. It was on a gluten free healthier bread topped with avocado, tomato, olives!!, lemon and salt pepper. I would definitely come back in for this. The Chai Latte is to the spicier side which I enjoyed. My friend ordered the Green Smoothie Bowl. The consistency was more to the smoothie side and less frozen than expected but she said it tasted delicious! Lots of fruit and toppings. She loved the Golden Latte she ordered too. Despite the fact the cafe was busy we received our order quickly and all our food and drinks were brought to our table outside. I was able to try out Best Friend Juice Bar + Cafe through a Yelp Elite perk - It was my first time stopping by here and I am completely in loveee! The space is so cute and I loved all the decor inside and how vibrant it was. The owner, Margaux, is extremely kind, friendly and so welcoming!! I wish I would've had more time to stay in and chat with her tbh. I had called in my order as I was driving there and my order was ready as soon as I stepped in (~10 minutes). I ordered their Pumpkin-Caramel Latte with almond milk and loved it. So tasty and not overly sweet. I ordered the same for my boyfriend and he loved it just as much. Along with the beverages, I had also received a four pack of Margalaxy Moon Balls as part of the perk. They are raw, superfood snacks that are actually super delicious and really indulgent (in the best way of course). Margaux had also given me a sample of their PB Herman superfood smoothie and that was really yummy. I'll definitely be back to order that and try out their other menu items!

I usually really enjoy this place, but this trip was a disaster. I was the only customer, but it took a LONG time for 2 smoothies? That made no sense. Then, upon trying my smoothie, it was warm, no ice, and had the most disturbing, jelly-like texture. I've never in my life encountered a "smoothie" like that. I tried freezing it when I got home thinking it would help, NOPE. Made it even gummier. No ice to be found. I don't know what the hell happened but it was overall disgusting and I probably won't return. It's not hard to make a smoothie...

Very cute neighborhood gluten free coffee and smoothie shop. Staff very friendly we wanted to eat our toast there and they set up 1 table outside to comply with covid restrictions. Pumpkin chai is on the more spicy than sweet side im told and looking forward to trying it! The decidant...moon balls by margalaxy were rich and tasty! Looking forward to next visit

This place is a cozy little spot tucked away near the end of Gladstone, near some local nightlife and restaurants. Great little spot! I came during the COVID era, so I only got my order to go, but I could definitely see myself sitting in this coffeehouse, enjoying a latte over a book... My wife and I got a couple of almond milk caramel lattes, and some of the Margalaxy Moon Balls. The lattes were fantastic! I haven't had a latte in a few years due to always having good coffee at home, but decided to splurge this time. Sooooo tasty. I even licked all the foam out of the cup when I was done (#notsorry). Good to the last drop! The Moon balls were equally tasty, and a nice vegan treat! The service was excellent, and very friendly. I would have stayed during normal times, but due to the pandemic, I was in and out. They certainly did make me feel welcome for the couple minutes I was inside. All in all, a great little spot to go for coffee if you're in the hood. Can't wait to visit when things go back to normal!

Such a cute little shop. The younger girl working was getting hit hard with door dash orders and in person customers. She was super sweet and apologetic to the wait. She was friendly and chatted with patrons all while busily prepping the orders. She was rocking it! I think I would have been WAY more flustered in that situation. We didn't mind the wait at all as we were not in a hurry and the drinks were amazing! The lavender latte was very unique and hit the spot! All of the juices we tried were fresh and awesome. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area, and hope to bump paths with this employee (wish I would have gotten her name) and chat more about life! She is a gem, and I hope she is greatly blessed by others as well!

New in the hood!!! And my first time in but this place will become a regular, I have no doubt! And OMG the juice is superdelicious and hit my spot. Some of the items Margaux, the owner, shared with me: 1. they are a 15-seat location and don't have to close for the time being 2. they want to be a 'productivity café' because they have free wifi and great big windows to enjoy some desperately needed alternate views than your work product 3. there exist a few ways of picking up your order: at the shop to go; at their cart over the counter to go; and through a phone-in order to go. Let's #supportlocal Portland! Plenty of free on street parking, nice people, good stuff.

I love Best Friend Juice Bar and Cafe. I enjoy going to their brick and mortar on Gladstone. It is nice and clean and has ample street parking most of the time. They have cute tables but no sitting right meow because covid which totally makes sense. The attendants are always nice and offer suggestions. I like to try a different smoothie each time I go but am beginning to figure out favorites. I highly recommend this place, if you are a fellow smoothie lover or just wanna put some fruit/vegetables in your body in liquid form.

Absolutely delicious. I've had a few disappointing smoothies at other places in my day, but Best Friend delivers every time. Highly recommended!

Such friendly service and a great clean space. There are nice big open windows that let in a lot of natural light making it feel really open. I got the blue magic latte and it was all calming flavors and relaxing. Perfect for a chill day/snow day. I can't wait to come back once stores and restaurants are able to do dine in service again. I also loved that they had postcards that you could send to your friends if you wanted.

Very yummy just very pricey for 16oz. A spot to only splurge. But, I must say, it's a god smoothie! Goodness! I also love supporting businesses with vegan options!

This was a nice little jaunt. Cute lil place. Lovely decorations and their moonballs are quite delicious and filling. The employees were attentiveand had smiles on their faces. The decor and art work is pleasant. A nice chill place to hang out with friends after Covid.

I enjoyed my drinks from Best Friend. The Chai is one of the spiciest that I have ever had, it was very delicious. The moonballs superfood bites were very good as well. I like the location and service I received. Walked in on a very cool and windy Wednesday afternoon. Their cold drinks and smoothies sound very good and when I am in the neighborhood again, I will stop by to try out more.

New best friends . The owners of this newly opened brick and mortar are so friendly and kind and whip up some delicious and healthy juices, smoothies and snacks. I can't wait to eat through their menu.

This is such a cute little cafe. I loved that almost everything is vegan (some honey)! I also really appreciated that they had a few indoor dining spots as it was raining the day I visited. I tried the maca mocha and the green smoothie. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. Lastly, the customer service was top notch!

This place is delicious! For a juice bar there are many options. Average portions, amazing flavor and kind service. Our smoothies and bowls were complemented very nicely with the weather. Again the staff were awesome, nice and clean place and lots of natural light. Nice addition to the neighborhood.

I DoorDashed this place this morning and oh my goodness! Absolutely heavenly I got the PB smoothie bowl with some add in's and a green smoothie for my co worked and this is going to be a once a week treat for me. Plus you get full after eating one of these bowls! They are a bit pricey but I would take price and quality over anything! Keep up the good work I can't wait to try the Lavender Latte!

It's a decent enough place but every time I go it takes forever and the staff seem oblivious to long people have been waiting. When I need a quick coffee or breakfast on the run it's just not worth it.

I quite enjoyed going to this new neighborhood spot. Bright, cheery ambiance, great coffee and smoothies. I was looking forward to trying some of the treats from their intriguing menu. I use the past tense because I won't be patronizing them any longer. Both my partner and I are high risk for Covid-19 mortality, and I am sad to say that the folks behind the counter DO NOT WEAR FACEMASKS. People, we are nowhere near flattening the curve. More and more of us are dying. Despite this, all to many people seem to have given in to Covid Fatigue and have just stopped giving a s**t. Don't be a "Spredder" and don't support businesses that don't protect their employees or customers

The moon balls are just amazing. The texture, flavor and nutritional value are great. I had one mid day and I believe it gave me a little more pep in my step without needing caffeine. They were also a great healthy dessert option. The staff was super sweet and offered me a menu to look over for next time I come in. I'm looking forward to coming back here to try all their delicious juices, smoothies and bowls!
