I am speechless. I am shocked that this place doesn't have more reviews, but so thankful that it doesn't at the same time. I want this to be my little secret.
It's as beautiful as the pictures show, and I stayed here on a gloomy winters day. Their first impression of me was anything but glorious I'm sure, as I called multiple times, first to let them know we'd be running late (wretched SF traffic/accidents) and if it would be a problem. (Not at all they said. If they weren't there my little package would be on the kitchen table). Then, I don't know how but the wrong address was entered in my phone, and I got lost. 3 times! After they patiently and thoroughly, explained to me twice how to get there. Darn the insanity of tired eyes and worst traffic of my life. I forgot her name, but the evening keeper said to call her once we were confident we were on the right path. Oh the sweetness!
Arrived and was kindly attended to. Fresh baked cookies were in the cookie jar, along with her welcoming and brief overview.
Stayed in room #1. Corner upstairs room with a wrap around porch. Quaint, with a fireplace and softest comfy bed. Bliss. I slept sound, long, and hard. It is rare for me.
In the morning made my way down to the kitchen, and was greeted by the beautiful Laura who was making breakfast. I had the most interaction with her (although I'm sure all of them are just lovely). She is warm, and I felt like it was home! I was instantly attached to the place and the happy flowing vibes. She was happy to be up and happy to chat with us! Helped us in every which way from questions about wine tasting, to places to see, walk to, etc. I immediately regretted not booking an extra night, and was informed they were full. This was all before breakfast mind you, and it gets even better!
Breakfast was a fluffy waffle and crisp bacon. A cup of fruit which included persimmons from their tree, sweetest pears I've ever had (and I'm not a pear person per say), grapes, and grapefruit. Juice was an orange, cranberry, grapefruit mix. Yum! And prior to that I had 2 delicious mugs of coffee.
3 kinds of syrup, fresh raspberry (my favorite), brandy maple, and regular maple. Some chunky fig jam too. Wow how fantastic.
I was looking forward to the fresh raspberries alot of others talked about, but I acknowledge it my have not been the season. Luckily for me, I plan on coming back.
The camaraderie at the table was something I cherished, and my friend and I were the youngest ones, but loved listening to everyone else and felt so connected though they were all at least 40 years our senior.
Following breakfast, we excused ourselves and roamed the property. Saw the horses in the back barn area, and walked the back roads. I couldn't get enough of the moss covered trees and fresh open air.
After a disheartening search for another evening someplace else, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Nothing would compare to the genuine, homey family feel of staying at Beltane. So we decided to bid adieu to Sonoma and leave the best memory here to stay.
Thanks Beltane for EVERYTHING!
