Nestled beneath Airbnb HQ, Bellota dazzles with its vibrant Spanish fare, from inventive paellas to lively tapas, in a chic, rustic space.
"You’re looking for a power lunch spot to discuss manufacturing costs for your latest line of smart socks that make people think they’re walking on a beach. You want to take your materials supplier somewhere nice so they’ll know you’re excited about the meeting, but not so nice that it feels like a hardcore negotiation. Head to Bellota in SoMa and get some great Spanish food in a space that doesn’t feel like a membership is necessary to enter. Keep ordering them pan con tomate and Iberico ham as you try to talk them down on fabric costs, and if things get really tight, let them have the crusty part at the bottom of the paella. If that doesn’t say you’re willing to work with them on this, nothing will." - will kamensky
"If you’re not sure whether you’ve ever had properly made sangria, this Spanish spot underneath Airbnb HQ in SoMa is where to get the good stuff. For $44 you get a pitcher of proper sangria made with both red and white wine (tempranillo and garnacha blanca), gin, brandy, apricot, and rosemary. The added bonus here is you can also order some of the best Spanish food in town." - Jay C. Barmann
"Bellota, which means “acorn” in Spanish, serves traditional Spanish cuisine and regional specialities. Executive chef Ryan Mcilwraith created an eclectic menu that’s perfect for groups. Dishes go way beyond paella and tapas (a can’t-miss paella is the cleverly named Fideur, a paella of rice and noodles hailed the “San Francisco treat”), so bring along some friends to split favorites family-style like their seafood tower, charcuterie and cheese plates, and the tortilla. The open-kitchen concept gives sweeping views into the wood-fired hearth, and the colorful tile bar is the best place to grab a speciality cocktail." - Airbnb
"Under the Airbnb office in SoMa is the solid Spanish restaurant Bellota. We like this spacious spot for its versatility: big groups, date nights, and work dinners all feel at home here. Their Restaurant Week deal is a $45 dinner that includes one pintxo, like the bombas de arroz or jamón serrano, two tapas (choose from patatas bravas, esparragos, gambas, or carrilladas), and a seasonal dessert. "In San Francisco, Bellota serves a sherry-tinged Gilda-tini." - Bettina Makalintal
