Beast

Great atmosphere! Food was a bit average, we waited 1 hour for the burger and stuffed chicken. My chicken was warm at best, considering it was straight out of the kitchen. Taste of the food was great, might come back. Cool music and feel.

I'm not sure what it says about the people on Google Places that so far Beast has the most reviews of any place I've reviewed yet, but there might be a bunch of freaks on here. Fun loving freaks with good taste to be sure, but let me assure you the kind of people who think this creative, unique and highly unusual restaurant is a nice normal place to take the folks is starting out a little left of center, y'dig? That said, I took my mom here for Mother's Day dinner and she loved it -- it IS the nicest place this close to my house, and the service is friendly and very helpful in navigating the idiosyncratic small-plates-that-sound-like-and-are-priced-like-main-courses menu. Everything is delicious and tastes like the cooking of a Chopped champion, even though Chef Deb got eliminated after the entree.

Great food, beautiful decor and good service until it came to pay. I could mention the taped up chairs and such... however, that can add to a places decor. The problem? yes the portions and prices where of Manhattan quality and not Brooklyn. Sure they gave the attitude of a three star when they where nothing more then a corner bar. The menu was cute, categorized by metaphor, earth being of vegetable based items, Sky being chicken and sea being fish. The service was fast and the waitress was nice. The host however, was cranky. When it came to pay she asked weather they can keep the change. I agreed sure and decided to order another drink. The waitress came back not with the drink but the money placing it on the table asking if the service was bad or something. I was not sure what she meant until I realized she thought the change (95 cents) was her tip, understood. But then she stopped serving and left the money on the table. That then became her tip and we left. Service was good until they jumped to conclusions resulting in their conclusion.

This feels very odd, I might be the only person that is giving a bad review to this place. The food was horrible, the dishes were under-seasoned and not cooked thoroughly. I ordered a dish with duck, and the duck breast was tough and the skin was soggy. The layer of fat under the skin was so thick and chewy, how could they really expect to serve that. I read so many great reviews about this place I figured my evening would be amazing. Instead my date ended early and I went home with a bad taste in my mouth.

Love the wood, pubby interior...Tons of seating in the back if the bar area is full. Well mixed drinks and an inventive and tasty menu you. I've never left here hungry or sober. Priced reasonably considering all the new options in the area that charge extra because they are "artisanal".

I really, really wanted to like this place. The menu is great, it's in my 'hood, they run specials all the time. The problem is, the service is lacking. The few times we went there, it took FOREVER for someone to take our order, and then it took FOREVER for our food to arrive. To sum it up, don't go there on an empty stomach - you will definitely become hangry.

Great food! Met my wife here on our 1st date :) Romantic and awesome staff. Favorites are hot seafood tappas. The scallops are super yummy.

really wonderful kitchen and great food; beer and wine list is excellent for this price point; standout food: chorizo, roasted vegetables, fried manchego, and the s'mores for dessert: 37 stars!
