Yelp
Barrio Cerveceria is easily reachable via the Queen Street streetcar, and it has 2 patios (one bigger one on the east side, with a large mural artwork on the wall). They don't take reservations for patio, but there should be minimal wait time if you come during non-busy hours (especially if you have a small group / don't require a big table). There was no wait at all when we went in the late afternoon / early dinner hours on a Saturday.
The food here is really good - authentically Mexican and I consider one of the best Mexican restaurants in the city. You can mix and match different tacos (all the ones we've tried thus far are excellent!), and there are some main dishes and shareable ones too.
APPETIZERS & SHAREABLES
1) Ensalada del Chef (cabbage, carrots, jicama, corn, cotija cheese, avocado, crispy tortilla, crispy chickpeas, fresh orange, and strawberries, tossed in homemade dressing) - Fresh and crispy salad. Love the crispy chickpeas and fresh orange & strawberries in the mix.
2) Ceviche de Camaron (lime cured shrimps, jicama, tomato, white onion, and avocado), served with homemade tortilla chips - This has a bit of a 'kick' to it.
TACOS
3) Camarones Endiablados Tacos (shrimps with guacamole, lettuce, grilled pineapple, and cilantro) - My favourite taco type at Barrio. The grilled pineapple and cilantro really add zest to the shrimps. If only the pineapple pieces are bigger in size and volume!
4) Vegetariano Tacos (sautéed zucchini, carrots, pepper, onion, mushrooms, salsa de molcajete, and cilantro) - Great vegetarian option for tacos.
5) Placero Tacos (sautéed cactus, onion, corn, and epazote on top of black beans, topped with cotija cheese, salsa verde, and cilantro) - I've tried cactus tacos in several other places before, and this one is my favourite. The mixture of sautéed cactus, onion, and corn go really well with the black beans and cotija cheese.
MAIN DISHES
6) Barrio Bowl (Mexican rice, refried beans, portobello mushrooms, crema, Oaxaca cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, served in a bowl with house salad of spinach & seasonal vegs) - Sooo yummy! All the ingredients mixed together in one bowl = flavour bomb goodness. The portobello mushrooms covered with melted cheese are especially heavenly.
DESSERT
7) Mexican Churros with cinnamon and fresh berries - Served hot and crispy. Best to eat right away when it comes out. Unlike the traditional Spanish churros that are dipped in chocolate, this one is covered with powdered sugar, cinnamon, and caramel drizzle. It's good for those who have a sweet tooth.
