This was a casual spot with a small bar and a few tables. There also appeared to be outdoor seating when the weather was suitable. The menu offered creative Korean inspired dishes and snacks. The service was friendly while the food came out promptly.
Three different appetizers were ordered and shared, the trio set of open rolls ($20), homemade steamed dumplings ($12), and steamed buns ($16). There was also a cup of soup that came that was warm and refreshing. The open rolls that were chosen were crab meat, galbi, and salmon. If I were to explain these, they were essentially "sushi tacos." Each one was also filled to capacity with filling. The crab had a crab meat mix, cucumber, daikon, sweet potato crunch, microgreens, and tobiko. This was very tasty. The crab meat appeared fresh and went well with the crunch from the sweet potato. The galbi consisted of beef short rib, galbi sauce, cucumber, Asian pear, sweet potato crunch, microgreen, and chojang. This was even better. The beef was tender while the pear gave just enough sweetness where it did not overpower the roll. Finally, the salmon had tartar sauce, tobiko, microgreen, and a sweet potato crunch. This was definitely my favorite one even if it was the simplest. The salmon seemed to be of great quality and that made all the difference. The three dumplings were filled with pork and of good size. These were solid. The pork flavor was just right, and the dumpling texture stood out as it was not too hard or soft. Regarding the steamed buns, we opted to go with a short rib filing. They came with cucumber, chayote, mixed greens, tomato, tartar, and a sweet chili sauce. These were much bigger than I thought they would be, and they were great as well. The short rib like the open roll was tender and flavorful while the actual bun held up with all the toppings that were there. I thought the buns could have been a tad more flavorful, but hardly an issue. It was an all-around great couple of dishes.
Will I go back? Definitely.
