"A Break from Everything at Bare Jazz Café The secluded entrance from busy Grensen Street leads you into an almost Parisian courtyard where jazz cafe Bare Jazz is located. Friendly atmosphere that welcomes all kinds of people, with a record shop on the ground floor and a coffee shop on the first floor. The best carrot cake in town, delicious coffee, and some of the best tunes around. Gigs are held frequently, showcasing local talent, but bigger stars on the Norwegian jazz sky also play there. Have a listen and enjoy a glass of red."

One of the coolest music store in the town with a bar in the second floor. Where you can find different kind of exclusive records. There are tables in the second floor and also open area with 15-20 tables for the people who want to have their drink and smoke in the same time. In the heart of the city with very calm and silent atmosphere.

The atmosphere in this place is so cozy; brick walls, dim lights, lit candles and great coffee. In the summer you can even sit outside, which I love. This is also a great place for those who are into jazz music; jazz concerts are held here some evenings, and they sell jazz records which you can listen to on the first floor if you want to.

Fantastic place for a cup or beer. Id 22 after 19:00, great space outside with heating lamps. The store on the first floor touts itself as "Scandinavia's biggest in jazz on CD"!

It's a very cool space. Would be nice if they got behind some of the growing local coffee culture. The cup on the left of the photo is my 'flat white'. I thought it should be better than what I'd get in grandma's kitchen. I'd probably actually get better in grandma's kitchen.

My favourite place for coffee or chai with amazing music and a wonderful ambience to meet friends or work in the day. Or a great place for drinks in the evening. It's beautiful, casual and cozy.

One of my favourite bars in Oslo. Either to have coffee or tea, beer or wine, it's always the right mood. The bartenders are quite cool and if there's no space upstairs there's a super nice terrace outside. Completely recommended

Amazing gem off the beaten track. Situated in great accessible and central area of Oslo. Staff is amazing, music is wonderful, and there is such a great vibe, it's just a beautiful hidden little place. Ruben works at the 1st floor selling records, he is such a wonderful person to socialize with while he gladly offers his expertise to help you find the record you didn't even know you wanted! Thank you!

Yelp
Every time I set my foot onto the inner yard of Bare Jazz, I ask myself why I don't do it far more often. It is like I forget that it exists. Maybe it is because It's situated in a part of town where I rarely spend time, or because they don't serve any proper lunch. Or maybe it is because this well hidden inner yard possess some magical power that cuts it of from the rumble and tumble of everyday life - because that is for sure how it feels like. Bare Jazz is Scandinavia's biggest jazz music store, providing knowledgeable staff and a good selection. On the second floor there is a small café and bar that serves nice coffee, wine, beer, and some simple cakes and sandwiches (as mentioned before: for a proper lunch you better go somewhere else). And on the secluded yard jazz music is playing all day long, flower pots are blooming and at the first drops of rain big awnings are unrolled. There are plenty of seating outside, but not so many inside. Go here to relax, sip a cup of coffee and listen to John Coltrane doing what he does best. Or bring your laptop and do some work, or your date for that sake! If you're a jazz fan, Bare Jazz is the place for all occasions.

Yelp
Great place, super nice staff. Coffee is very good and a tiny selection of cakes and nibs. Decor is cozy and very brick and mortar feel. Night time is nice but hardly any seats. Clients are a wide cross section of people. Lots of outdoor seating so it's nice in summer

Yelp
Incredible selection of jazz from all styles, eras, and artists in multiple formats. A little pricey, but what can you expect for top-notch music. As a jazz fan, I was so lucky to stumble upon this store during my visit to Oslo about a year ago. Be sure to spend some time out in the alleyway/plaza/cafe in the storefront before or after sifting through the record bins.

Yelp
I was told about this place when I visited Oslo the last of may of this year. I am a Jazz Musician and it was like walking into "Jazz Heaven". The music just floored me for some of the people that was being played I knew or some played with. Then to top it off, the owner plays saxophone and she played with some people I know in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Yelp
Like a shelter in the middle of oslo. Cosy cosy for å kose seg :)
