This was our very first meal upon arriving in Hanoi, taken while we were completely exhausted — and it unexpectedly woke us right up. We tried it out of curiosity and were immediately drawn to watching the bánh cuốn being freshly made, which was fascinating in itself.
Light, delicate, and comforting, it’s not as bold or crave-worthy for us as bún chả, phở, or bánh mì, but it’s absolutely worth trying to appreciate another side of Hanoi’s food culture. A gentle, satisfying introduction to local flavors.
