Baked & Wired is a cozy Georgetown gem renowned for its colossal cupcakes, artisan coffee, and a charming artistic ambiance that beckons locals and visitors alike.
"Next up in Georgetown is a stop by this beloved bakery that’s been around since 2001. While Martell stocked up on sweets inside, Rosenthal mingles with a group of ladies out front and bonds over the fact one is from Brooklyn and he’s from Queens. Martell comes out with a lemon ginger cookie, the s’mores-like OMG bar, and of course, a cupcake. “I’m not a cupcake person, but these were so moist and delicious,” says Rosenthal." - Tierney Plumb
"Georgetown’s locals-favorite coffee shop and bakery dishes out colossal cupcakes, among other baked goods. Widely known as one of the very best cupcake spots in the city, the bakers at Baked & Wired swirl fresh strawberries into the strawberry cupcake and top the cinnamon-laced, Texas sheetcake cupcake with rich chocolate pecan frosting while it is still warm. The lines can get long, but kind service and the view of the glass dome-covered confections lined up on the Carrera marble bar help." - Tierney Plumb, Stephanie Carter
"Baked & Wired makes the biggest cupcakes in Georgetown. The best? Maybe not. While the classic DC shop has some pretty cool ideas (the lemon blueberry Smurfette sounds great on paper), the flavors don’t show up as boldly—or at all in certain cupcakes like the carrot cake. Still, the bakery and cafe is a nice place to sneak off to, grab a coffee, and read a book along the patio by the C&O Canal—if you’re free during the day, because they’re only open from 9am-4pm during the week, and 6pm on Saturdays." - Tristiaña Hinton
"Georgetown Cupcake may have the diehard reality TV fans, but Baked & Wired serves some of the best and biggest cupcakes around. There’s also a counter full of other baked goods as well as espresso, tea, and coffee. Pickup and delivery is available through online ordering." - Tierney Plumb, Missy Frederick, Eater Staff
"A cupcake by any other name would not be as cute. The Georgetown bakery whips up a yellow and blue homage to the original female Smurf by folding blueberries into lemon cake ($5.95). Smurfette is then topped with lemon buttercream and blue sprinkles. The bakeshop says the summer special will be available through September 12, or until fresh blueberries are no longer available." - Emily Wishingrad
