If you're coming here, be prepared to have an unshakable and bottomless appetite cuz when the food starts hitting the table, it's like playing tetris to find space to squeeze in the dishes cuz it will be a lot of food. It's very similar to another restaurant in Boston called Oppa Sushi.
I will have to say that our waiter was very kind and made our dining experience pleasant.
We ordered the Boat Sashimi special which serves 3-4 people but really feeds twice as many. Salads, sides, soups and grilled dishes come out first in rapid succession so you'll have to prioritize which dish to try to avoid any cooling down too fast. By far, the best were the fried fish, grilled black cod, the soup and the more tender abalone (we got two versions - one tender, the other like chewing through harder cartilage).
When the sashimi boat arrived, it was definitely a newer presentation to us with the lobster at the fore of the boat and dry ice to keep the sashimi cold but the placement of the dry ice dish could have better as the liquid could teeter and land on the fish. The best sashimi were the lobster, scallop, salmon and the European sea bass. While we knew there would be different kinds of sea bass (instead of the nine as advertised in the menu), they gave us only three kinds and twice the amount of each of these which ultimately had very similar texture and taste. For one of them, I had to remove a long bone (about two inches which spanned the width of the piece) twice from two pieces I had in my mouth and pointed this out to the waiter, who understood and apologized. He brought over a few pieces of chutoro which was nice gesture of the chefs but it was frozen, so we needed let it thaw for a while before eating it. A restaurant serving sushi and sashimi should not have these mistakes since they should be inspected before serving. Bones in sashimi and frozen sashimi. Unacceptable.
To round out our meal, we were served a seafood stew with lobster, crab, mussels, clams, tofu and vegetables. The broth was rich but clean and mildly spicy but still flavorful. At this point, we were already full but did find some space to enjoy it.
From our dining experience here, the cooked food is really good but if you're calling your restaurant a sushi and sashimi restaurant as well, then you definitely need to live up to the standards of quality of serving the fish to have customers return. Don't think we can say the same for us.
