"Aux Merveilleux de Fred specializes in delicious concoctions of delightfully light, soft cream and crystallized meringue. These cakes come in six different flavors—all amazing—but the Merveilleux and the Incroyable are probably our favorites. The brioche is also noteworthy."

Possibly my favorite patisseries in London. Husband and I stop by here almost every night during our stay in the city and we always get the mini and waffle plus other bread. Their bread is light and very tasty. We tried the brioche too, pain du chocolat, tuna sandwich and egg sandwich and all of them were extremely satisfying. The staff was all very friendly and helpful.

Lovely tasting pastries. The price is high but the taste is good, definitely worth it as a treat ! The seating was great when I visited, however I can imagine not everyone will always be able to be seated. There are only three tables. I also heard one member of staff say to customers that a table was reserved and not to sit on it. I would say advise customers to go in knowing what they are going to order as a queue will form behind you and the waiting staff work at speed. I don’t think there were any toilets. The seating could fit a child but is not very kid-friendly in that there is not much space and limited seats available.

I love this cafe very much. Good vibes 😎 Their cappuccino and chocolate cramique were very nice and tasty. I also tried their signature-merveilleux mini version🥰🥰Both chocolate & coffee were yummy!

This place is small but beautiful. The coffee is one of the best Ive had in London. I ordered a coconut milk cappuccino. They serve hot chocolate brioche buns that are so wonderfully warm. We also got a coffee waffle but it unfortunately was dry and stale.

Honestly, you are going to die in heaven when you eat the almond croissant here! Lol because I definitely did! The pastry and coffee here are next level!!! You absolutely need to come try the pastry. It is flaky on the outside but soft and warm on the inside. Just soooo delicious! I also had their latter and hot chocolate, which are also really delicious. 5 stars!!!

Google
Very traditional French patisserie also in London. I tried the Le Merveilleux which is made with Meringue, chocolate whipped cream coated with shavings of dark chocolate. The atmosphere is really cosy and I also recommend their pastries, I heard the best almond croissant is right there.

Google
The pros : very good products, freshly made, brioches were still warm from the oven. I recommend the brioche with chocolate, it was delicious. The cons : below average service, no greetings, one staff only at the counter despite a long queue extending outside the shop.

Yelp
(This review is for their shop location in Leadenhall Market) Their sandwiches are far the best sandwiches I've ever had in my lifetime! Bread so soft it melts in your mouth with each bite. When you look at it, you'll probably think I won't get full from this somewhat small sandwich. But au contraire, mate! They have quality ingredients that you can witness the action through a glass window while the chefs prepare the food. Pair it with a cappuccino and you'll be in heaven.

Yelp
Great spot for mid afternoon treats and a pick me up cappuccino. Service was great, we dined in and enjoyed our selections. I had a chocolate chip bun and a little meringue treat. I observed a lot of kids coming in with their parents afterschool for items which was really sweet. I knew we'd found a yummy bakery as I witnessed this. I like staying in this neighborhood when I'm in town. I'd recommend stopping in, if you're in this area.

Yelp
Aux Merveilleux De Fred is the ultimate baker's haven, dishing out mouthwatering, butter-infused treats. Located near our hotel, this hidden gem is tucked away in the vibrant depths of the Kensington High Street Underground Station. My comrade, John Glenn, and I wasted no time immersing ourselves in a scrumptious feast after catching a glimpse of the skilled pastry chef behind the glass window. Amongst the myriad delectable delights, a mesmerizing meringue-based dessert caught our adventurous eyes, luring us into uncharted territories of taste. Though its sweetness bordered on the edge of decadence, we discovered it to be the perfect accomplice when paired with a steaming cup of coffee. Awkay? This situated bakery effortlessly marries accessibility and culinary brilliance. We plopped ourselves into the comfy chairs right outside the shop, soaking in the vibrant energy of the passing crowd, as we basked in the sweet success of our delectable conquests

Yelp
Good bakery with tasty bread at high price and okay seating. The service is very kind and prompt. Raisin bun is tasty

Yelp
We saw the chocolate cramique come straight out of the oven and was immediately drawn to it. The chocolate cramique here was so warm and soft! It tasted so fresh too. The salmon sandwich was just okay though, not enough toppings or ingredients and the bread was a little too hard.

Yelp
I first tried Fred's in Brussels and fell in love! I went to London and found one there, was I excited! That was one of my first stops when I arrived in England!

Yelp
My favorite bakery to go to when I lived in London. Not only were the employees so kind, the baked goods were beyond perfect

Yelp
The hotel I stayed in was just down the street from Aux Merveilleux de Fred which was on my way to the South Kensington tube station. When I walked by and smelled the buttery pastries that were being baked inside and saw the lovely brioche cramiques, I figured I would have to try this place out for breakfast. The first visit (yes there was more than one the three days I was in London), I ordered a croissant and the large chocolate chip cramique. It was a lot to eat at breakfast so I saved half of the cramique for later. Both were divine. The croissant though was superior to any other croissant I've had before. The second visit I got the smaller chocolate chip cramique and a croissant and that was a very good amount of food for breakfast. I also got a mocha latte to go with it. Mmmm, coffee isn't their strong point. What was interesting, the first visit, only French speaking men came into the bakery to get breakfast so I felt this had to be pretty legit. The second day there was only one person who spoke English and everyone else spoke French. I was pleased with that. You can see into the kitchen from the small seating area. I'm a bit sad to say, on my second visit, it struck me that the kitchen was exceptionally clean for a bakery, and that the table they were working on wasn't caked with flour and sugar and leftover dough and that there weren't any mixers or anything going. Just one woman brushing unbaked croissants. I asked one of the women if they have to come in early for baking and she said just an hour before they open, everything comes to them already prepped. That burst a bit of my romantic bubble, but the pastries are so good that I can overlook this. The inside of the shop is very elegant and the displays of various meringues and cramiques, etc. was very appealing. On my next visit to London, I will certainly be enjoying breakfast here as often as possible!!

Yelp
Wow. We walked in, not fully sure what to expect, but everything looked delicious. Merveilleux cakes are like nothing I have had before. The base is a crisp meringue, but these are so much more, like magical sugary clouds made of cream. The flavors are nuanced and bold all at the same time, and the textures are just as complex.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Aux Merveilleux de Fred is a cute patisserie in South Kensington featuring their namesake Merveilleux treats. These are fluffy merengue-based delicacies which look cool but in practice are a bit tricky to eat--it was impossible for me to get it out of the box without smushing it, and then it's mostly just a couple bites of floof. But they look fancy at least. The chocolate chip brioche was simpler but more enjoyable for me, so try that if you want something more standard.

Yelp
Beautiful selection, the line moves fast! So many choices to choose from, the basic ones were probably my favorite i was not a fan of the coffee one... i don't think i would eat another one again though there was something i did not like about this French dessert, not that it tasted bad it just wasn't what i would particularly like in a dessert.

Y B.

Yelp
Wow, what can I say about tasting a piece of heaven? Delicious! I wished I could bring them back to LA! The white chocolate speculous meringue are so fresh, crunchy yet soft; the chocolate flakes give your taste bud a bit of texture and the cream is so fluffy and not too over powering. This is my new favorite dessert and it leaves any other dessert behind. You must try it!!!! Found this place by accident and every time in back in London I try to come here. It's that good!!!! My mouth waters and I get excited about cooking here. Other Pastries are fresh and warm. I have even brought back their meringues back to LA and they still tasted so good a day after. However nothing is best than their chocolate covered cream speculous meringue. Too bad it has cream and had to be refrigerated, otherwise I would be sharing this little piece of blissful dessert with family and friends in Los Angeles.

Yelp
Love this place. As a French dessert shop it is not too fancy or pricey, the atmosphere is really good. It's my first time to try desserts like that and it was a good experience. We got the coffee flavor and the one covered with white chocolate, they are gluten free, not very sweet. I love the cream they used for the dess

Yelp
The merveilleux are unique and nice, but at the end of the day it's just meringue with some cream and chopped nuts or other chopped toppings. If you're in the area do pop in to give it a try, but I wouldn't go out of your way to come here.

Yelp
If I could have managed the delights on the plane home, I would have bought two dozen! So delicious, light and creamy. I loved every bite.

Michael A.

Yelp
Best baked goods I've ever hade. The brioche was so excellent. The little meringues were like eating a cloud of deliciousness. Wonderful to sit and enjoy the smell of fresh baking bread as they are making everything from scratch in plain view. Definitely a real jewel worth going to. The coffee meringue was the absolute best.

Yelp
Delicious French style bakery in Kensington area of London. I'll be sure to visit on my next stay.

Bibi K.

Yelp
Amazing pastry Sadly incompetent staff: lots of mistakes including forgetting to write my daughter's name on the birthday cake, when I had made sure to ask it when I ordered the cake ans spelled it out 3 times.

Jas M.

Yelp
So delicious. One of the best desserts I've ever had in my life. White chocolate is my favorite.

Tony T.

Yelp
This is a small bakery in south Kensington that makes great baked goods. The merveilleux were good but sweet. The cramiquesbwere my favorite item on the menu. They have lots of outposts all over the world.

Alex S.

Yelp
Updated to add: cramiques are good for a day post-baking and ship wonderfully to lucky loved ones abroad! Also: those cramiques are delicious and I cannot conceive of any carbohydrate more perfectly crafted

Priya K.

Yelp
Love love this place, little fluffy coated meringues. The best thing is the view of the kitchen right in front of your eyes. Everything is made fresh and boxed, simply amazing.

Chris R.

Yelp
The cramiques are as good as a pastry can get. I especially liked the chocolate and sugar versions. I would kill for a place that made these locally. Also tried the merveilleux, which were decadent, but a bit sweet for my taste. They were exquisitely made though. This was an amazing little French bakery.

Stefani S.

Yelp
The chocolate chip cramiques are quite honestly the best things I have ever tasted. I am still dreaming of them now that I am back in the states. Highly recommend having a taste!

Yelp
Aux Merveilleux de Fred actually originated from France. When I was there, the queue in each branch was extremely long and they start queueing from the early morning when it opens. I was such a happy kid when I found out that they have opened their branches in London. All I can say is that you cannot get anywhere else in London which serves meringue with cream like they do. It is exceptionally good and unique. If you find somewhere which serves this and better, please let me know. The last time I was in Paris, I bought the whole big cake just for myself before I came back to the UK. Now, I can eat them fresh anytime I want. They also make really good brioche which needs to be consumed asap when it is warm. Please come here and try them. The Incroyable one is the best! It's basically meringue, speculoos biscuit, whipped cream coated with shaved white chocolate. I used to buy mini ones, then upgrade to individual portion. Nowadays, I just buy a cake fit for a few people and just eat them myself. Yum!

Kristen C.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise to find this very Parisian place in the heart of South Kensington. A boutique bakery specializing in Brioche buns and Cramiques -a meringue and whipped cream delicacy. They are delightful and deliciously indulgent. The Brioche buns come in small and large sizes and a choice of plain, sugar, raisin and chocolate chip. All are soft and airy and a wonderful treat with coffee or on their own. But the 'piece de resistance' are the Cramiques. Also in a variety of flavours from chocolate to cherry to hazelnut. The mini ones are addictive as you can just pop them in your mouth. The larger variety make great dinner party cakes as they look very special and grand. I did not walk out empty handed that is for sure, and I dare anyone to try! An appealing shop of elegant goodies.

Meike B.

Yelp
A proper bakery! One where you can see into the actual kitchen which actually take up most of the space. And where the counter is actually less of a sales counter than a display of work in progress with assistants covering cakes in chocolate shavings. I discovered this weird little place on a walk down the Old Brompton Road the other day and was intrigued by the selection of bread rolls in the window. They are the other of the two main items on sale here - "cramiques" are sweet dense breakfast breads which remind me of Sunday morning treats growing up in Germany. The other are the "Merveilleux" which are available in celebration and individual cake sizes as well as mini mouthfulls. I didn't actually try one as they look terribly sweet - a bit of internet research revealed that they are made of meringue and a variety of cream fillings. There are a couple of high tables and bar stools, so you can enjoy your treats with a cup coffee.

Kate B.

Yelp
Tasty fresh brioche buns however I noticed a few flies (bluebottles) flying around the pastries which should ideally be covered over. It has put me off going back to be honest. I did mention this but so far nothing as been done.
