"This bistro established in 1890 has a delightfully retro decor and serves delicious cuisine that explores Lyon's gastronomy in all its riches. The terrines, pike-perch quenelles with crayfish, and the chicken liver terrine vie with the specials chalked up on the slate, and the desserts are enough to awaken anyone's sweet tooth." - Michelin Inspector

As we entered the doorway a handsome man (new joint owner) graciously welcomed us. Great decor, wonderful location. The staff were good looking, spoke English and so very attentive. The food - excellent sauces, tender meats and fish, sizable portions. Definitely returning for LYONNAISE CUISINE. 😋

This place was on my list quite long time under Micheline recommended restaurants. I am happy to experience it finally with my best friend as my guest from Amsterdam! We had an amazing starter followed by a delicious main course! All gave us the Lyonnais taste and atmosphere. Of course still Lyonnais cuisine I experienced in Lyon was another level! I strongly recommend this restaurant if you want to feel the vibe and the Lyonnais taste!

We made a reservation for 12 PM local time and were one of the first people seated. We picked a few different plates to enjoy and it was all delicious. We picked this restaurant specifically because it showcases dishes from Lyon. Everything was delicious!

Intimate dining with creative, flavorful food and exceptional service. Generous with beginning nibbles and non-alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages were also abundant and appealing. Pictured is the famous chocolate mousse dessert.

We had a wonderful experioce at this restaurant! I had mentioned that it was my boyfriend´s birthday, an all people went above ad beyond to make it special. From the warm welcome thoughtful treats and extra attention, everything was perfect. The atmosphere was lovely, the service was outstanding, and we truly felt cared for. Thank you for making our evening so memorable!

Have been coming here for more than 10 years. Always delivers. Classic Lyon bistro style cooking (no tweezer cooking) in (almost) perfection. If I want a reliable dining experience in Paris, I come here!

Yelp
So disappointing! It's not easy to "fancify" Lyonnaise cuisine, but that's what's happened here. And it's not working! The food defies description. The menu is just words signifying very little, and the result is a series of dishes with no roots, no tradition, and for the most part, no taste. It's a corporate experiment by Ducasse and the staff seem tired and dispirited but stuck. From the chilly reception to the unthanked departure, an evening of regret- save for an excellent bottle of Gigondas - hence the two stars. Give it a miss. There are warmer, tastier, less outrageously priced options elsewhere in Paris.

Yelp
I want to come back to this restaurant many, many more times. Dear EU, please abandon your plans to place visa restrictions on US citizens visiting the EU; it will break my heart to have an obstacle between Aux Lyonnais and me. Now, while I enjoy creative, innovative cooking just as much as the next person (well, actually, I don't really know the next person or his / her likes and dislikes, but I'll use the cliché anyway), the traditional simplicity of the food offerings at Aux Lyonnais still wins me over. The highlight, of course, is the quenelle, which is fluffy and flavorful (although there were literally two pieces of crayfish in the sauce, but I'm not going to be greedy here). The portion size is almost too large, and I am well past the age when I could eat such large quantities of food in one sitting (I know it's odd for someone who lives in the US to comment on large food servings in France; I also know that I probably sound like the crazy woman from reality TV who wanted to divorce her husband - and take his car - because he was too nice to her). Among the desserts, the rice pudding (another example of simple, honest-to-god, tasty food) is quite delightful; the marmalade blends very nicely with the rice pudding, and the candied hazelnuts add a pleasant crunch to the smooth, creamy rice pudding. The meringue floating island is my other favorite dessert, with its light, airy texture and its subtle sweetness. Service is courteous, gracious, solicitous even. I will be back every time I am in Paris. Heck, I will take a trip to Paris just to dine here again (note: OCD is not a good malady to have - duh... there is no good malady to have)!

Yelp
I say French cuisine....you say? * rich? * delicate? * formal? Well I do....and tend to avoid it on the whole. The exception being Aux Lyonnais which serves up throughly unpretentious, simple food that has been stunningly executed, from the quality of the ingredients to the preparation and delivery. Food here is truly exceptional. Food doesn't need to be complicated when it's this good. I will never not visit when I'm fortunate enough to be in Paris.

Yelp
Excellent preparation and subtle flavors along with gentil service earns its Michelin star, but it didn't wow and was pretty expensive so I can't give it five stars. We loved the "silk workers brains", a sweet and sour cheese dip, the lentil salad and our two entrees. But the desserts were a bit underwhelming and what I thought was going to be a cheese plate turned out to be a single very light white cheese/yogurt. We both had lunch menus, and the a la carte diners did seem to have more exciting preparations. So, ymmv.

Yelp
The food at this quaint spot is a mixed bad: some dishes such as the sweetbreads are excellent, others like the veal are tough and perhaps more cow than calf. The fish is not quite as fresh an one might hope. Service is slow and a bit rude too.

Yelp
I've eaten from street stalls in Bangkok that were amazing, I've eaten at La Cirque in New York. I've had some bad meals and some great meals and this was a bad meal.. I started with their specialty "Coddled egg" which is essentially a soft boiled egg with mushrooms in a cup. My entree was Quennelle a pike fish souffle followed by Il' flottant .. All were almost inedible. The dessert tasted like stryofoam with hot water poured on it. The Quennelle was tiny and mushy completely the wrong consistency. I agree with a lot of the previous reviewers stay away. Mr Ducasse you've ruined a classic restaurant. Also the manager/hostess that came to the table several times smelled like cigarettes.

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal... food and service. Every course was properly executed and delicious. The service could not have been better. Attentive staff, wine suggestions and this was just for lunch! Definitely would return.

Yelp
Service and food were amazing. We had some great culinary experiences on our trip to Paris and Aux Lyonnais was one of the best. The food and the service were excellent.

Yelp
Another Alain Ducasse favorite. This brasserie dates back to 1892. The exterior is unpretentious. The tiles and decor in the restaurant are very unique and beautiful. You are transformed to a little bistro in Lyon. My waiter was very attentive and charming. Exceptional wine list. The presentation of my meal was perfectly executed. The lettuce soup was delicate and delicious. My entire meal was a fabulous experience! www.auxlyonnais.com

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Ordered from 34 Euro lunch menu: chicken and mushroom terrine, rabbit fricassee with artichokes and olives, Saint Marcellin cheese and of course good French wine by the glass. All customers French and all servers spoke English! Fine Lyonnaise bistro near Opera.

Yelp
The décor is great. That is all that impressed me during this meal. The food was prepared well but not memorable. The next morning we had to look at the receipt to recall what we had to eat. The service was rushed to the point of rudeness, which in Paris is crazy. I was handed a menu and asked to order in less than one minute. When we said we needed time the server came back about 45 seconds later. The whole experience had a very strange vibe. I think this place is riding its reputation.

Yelp
Wonderfully decorated in Belle Epoch style, this is a great place for lunch or dinner. I haven't been back since Alain Duccasse took over but I can only imagine it's kept up it's high standards.

Yelp
We were there 9 years ago.... Oh....those little Coquille St. Jacques! Such a delicious meal....we had a grand time...the pate...the wine blurred my memory a teeny bit... We'd gladly go back if we are ever in Paris again....

Yelp
We went there as a family with a ravenous appetite and were sorely disappointed. Out of 7 different entrees ordered by each of us, only one was truly superb. The red leaf lettuce salad with walnut vinaigrette tasted almost stale. The special of the day -- the line caught pollack with girolles was skewed toward salty and I found it unbalanced that way. The lamb was tough. Even the floating island was deceiving in looks. It was just all so unremarkable. To top it off, we were barely done with dessert when the maître d handed us our check and said "I'll just leave this here for when you're ready". We were slightly offended but decided to let the meal take it's course. He returned to ask if we'd like to take our tea upstairs. Obviously there were others waiting to Have a table but we were simply not done and did not appreciate bring rushed. Though a casual place, we were aghast that this would be allowed in an Alain Ducasse establishment.

Yelp
This is a restaurant based in the tradition of Lyonnaise cuisine. I asked the maitre d' about salad lyonnaise and he didn't know what it was. I had to explain how it's made. He said he never heard of it....unbelievable to me. The food was good, but not great. I will hunt around around Paris find find salade lyonnaise.

Yelp
Fantastic service and fantastic food. The staff could not have been nicer, and we we're the only English speaking patrons in the restaurant. Best complete meal we have had this week in Paris

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food! I don't want to write anything else as I feel it would be best to go and experience yourselves, however here it goes... We went got the lunch menu (excellent value) and had the salad (Lyonnais salad), steak and a praline dessert. The poached egg in the salad was perfect, the meat cooked just right, the mashed potatoes creamy and filing. The dessert was so light, sweet but not overwhelming so.. Amazing meal, can't wait to go again!

Yelp
Rustic Lyonnaise food in a five star restaurant atmosphere. I went there for lunch, and the prix fixe was a great deal: 26 Euro for choice between two of each appetizer, main, and dessert. First, the complimentary amuse bouche: a tangy fresh cheese, vinegar, shallot and herb spread with brown bread toast points -- delicious! My charcuterie plate (which I chose over a salad) was a meal in and of itself, included a cup of a tangy potato/egg salad with chopped salami, literally a mountain of sliced salami (3 varieties), and a slice of jellied meat loaf. I ate as much as I could taking care not to spoil my appetite for the rest of the meal. For my main I chose the fish dumpling (quenelle), which, in true French trompe l'oeil, looked exactly like a skinless chicken cutlet, but revealed itself to be a homogenous, ovoid, fish-infused concoction whose main ingredient I may never know. It was light, had the texture of a cooked egg white, and it was delicious, particularly due to the sauce, which was a buttery, perfectly seasoned sauce that could have done double duty as the base for a great lobster bisque. For dessert, I chose the apricot sorbet/ice cream thingamajig, which was the most disappointing part of the meal. Service was top notch, and the atmosphere is refined bistro. Beautiful bathroom upstairs.

Yelp
I declare this a must eat in Paris. Amazing Food, good service in a setting that feels classic french but nothing over the top. I was with mas belle souer et mas couchsufer for this one. Came highly recommended and I was very excited about this meal, lets just say it did not disappoint. For the wine, we went low, 30 euro, but they had an impressive selection and if I could appreciate a good wine more I would certainly sample their selection. Now lets get to the food. Entrees: Oeuf Cocotte and Poele de ris d'agneau (lamb sweetbreads). Oeuf cocette was amazing. Two eggs poached in a mushroom sauce. Every flavor pooped. Distinct and surprisingly light for what amounts to basically eggs and mushroom gravy. Le poele de ris d'agneau was spectacular. Served very hot with buttery croutons, the dish is very rich. The meat superb. High flavor impact and super tender. Everything came together very well in a buttery sauce that the dish was sautéed in. Of the two it was a dead tie for me. Plats: Tripes a la moutard, Boudin noir (blood sausage), and Quenelle de poisson (a creamed fish). My personal favorite was the boudin. A wide diameter slice served over onions with a brown gravy and a side of potatoes. Fantastically rich. The boudin reminded me of pulled pork from NC with its consistency. The flavor was what I would describe as beef, onion, mushroom and pork fat. The onions complimented and cut through the strong flavors of the boudin. The potatoes were beautiful. Smooth throughout, prepared with ample amounts of butter that amplified the gravy from the boudin. Tripes a la moutard was hunks of tripes served in a light moutard sauce with carrots and potatoes, one could describe this as tripe soup. A great dish. The moutard was subtle enough to increase the flavor of the tripe, which was little on the rubbery side, but great flavor.Lighter than one may expect and overally very good. It was mas belle seour's favorite of the night. Quenelle: I dont recall the fish that it was prepared with. I had never heard of quenelle before and was completely blown away about what came out. Its creamed fish with that cuts with a fork and looks like a puff pastry. Amazing. The fish was creamy and delicious. Not being a big fish person I found this to be delicious and very well prepared. Texture was smooth that complimented the equally smooth flavor. I would certainly recommend it to those of you who enjoy the bounty's of the sea. Desert: Marjolaine A 6 layered cake with 3 distinct layers., Chocolate, hazelnut and cake. Superb. Rich and a great way to finish off the meal. Well that and Glenfiddich and a 12 year Calvados is a great way to finish off any meal. Overall, eat here, 'nough said.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! I definitely recommend this place. I had the lunch menu. I had the Lyonnais salad, steak and praline dessert. We also tried a soufflé. ALL the food is just amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The bistro is exactly what is expected from a Parisian bistro. A definitely must!

Yelp
Impeccable sevice, superb food, a gret introduction to French food.

Yelp
The service was awesome, but the food was just ok. Relatively standard dishes cooked well, but nothing special... except maybe the desserts. Also, it's WAY too bright in there.

Camilo D.

Yelp
We booked the private dining room on the second floor for 12 people. It's a beautiful, elegant, yet rustic room. Food was delicious and the service was good.

Yelp
Very nice Bistro with a 3 course menu for less than 40/45 EUR.

Yelp
By far the best service we received at any establishment in France. As part of a 3 week European vacation, our last night of the trip was in Paris for my birthday. Arriving at the beautifully maintained building on a quieter street, the valet happily agreed to take our pic and took the effort quite seriously :) We were warmly greeted and treated by all front of house staff who served us. Our waiter\'s detailed knowledge of the dishes enabled him to answer my questions as well as make my selections obvious - I could almost taste his words. He knew why the classics were classics and identified those dishes that were typically Lyonaisse or more broadly French. The sommelier made appropriate recommendations and we were satisfied through cheese and dessert courses. The lighting was a touch bright for my preference. I would have loved an English version of the cookbook. Overall, it was a perfect evening to finish off an amazing holiday celebrating our engagement.

Yelp
A real gem. Reasonably priced Lyonnais cuisine in a very charming setting. One of the best deals in Paris
