"For the Love of Good Coffee Arts Café is pretty much what every coffee shop should be about: beautiful design, delicious food, and quality coffee prepared by competent baristas. Trust me when I say that after visiting Arts Café, most other places will pale in comparison. The decor is especially inviting. Tons of heavy wood, a very original light fixture by the window, and pops of color reminiscent of the pastels of an art studio make for a very inspiring space. Writers and students take great pleasure in visiting. The food is also noteworthy; I have been known to walk the 2 kilometers between my flat and Arts Café simply to get my hands on a delicious old-cheddar grilled cheese with onion chutney and green apples. While the interior is splendid, what really makes this place special is the massive outdoor terrace à la Européenne—the perfect place to enjoy a strong espresso on a sunny day."

"The Arts Café is a hip and welcoming little café in the Mile End that lives up to its name, with industrial bulbs, books, greenery, and wooden floors. The menu is vegetarian-friendly, but poutine aficionados will love their breakfast poutine, which comes complete with duck confit, poached egg, caramelized onion, russet potato, cheese curds, and Hollandaise sauce. That, plus a mimosa or a Bloody Caesar, and you've achieved the perfect start to the day." - Richard Burnett

"Given Arts Café’s location (just down the street from Fairmount Bagel), it’s no surprise that their gravlax plate takes advantage of that. Served open-faced with a smear of lemon cream cheese, generous ribbons of house-cured trout gravlax, and a sprinkling of fried capers, the combination of toppings does justice to the bagel beneath." - Mallory Frayn

Really enjoy my time there, great ambience, very good service, good food. The only downside is the wait time, it was long for us and it's a small but cozy resto so there's no place to wait inside (it was raining outside). I have a timer for my tea which was inside my tea cup and I was worried because of Covid. The waitress reassure me that the timer has been disinfected 😊

I went on a Saturday around 12 by myself to have brunch and work. I set myself down on the table by the windows right at the entrance. Staff was really nice, multiple staff members came to check up on me or get my order, they would watch my laptop when I went to the bathroom, the tables at the front and by the bar have Outlets but the table at the front is lower and more comfortable to work on. It was busy, people were coming in and out, to eat there or do coffee take out, I had the poutine brunch which was excellent I couldn't even finish it so don't be fooled by its small size, and a matcha green tea latte. Both were yum. The decor is beyond cute, you're surrounded by books and hanging exposed light bulbs, and hanging plants and it's small but not too small. I would 100% go back and recommend it.

In response to above review, Sunday noon brunch is probably a terrible time to go anywhere and write about it... For those of us with a little more foresight, opted to go here on my last day in town, as I was headed for the airport. As a matter of fact, I headed over from the other side of town. And let me tell you, I'm so glad I did. I may have found my favorite spot in Montreal. Definitely worth a revisit the next time I'm back. AC may have singlehandedly revived my obsession with benedict-anything. After a long layoff altogether, I'm back on the train. I also had two cortados. And while I don't typically advocate for having coffee and brunch at the same place (why not try two places instead of one), I'd gladly order another. Thanks for your hospitality guys!

First: their falafel sandwich is heaven! We only ordered because the person next to us had it and we weren't disappointed. Rarely had any better! The space is absolutely unique and beautiful, definitely one of if not the best resto-cafés to check out in the neighborhood. Books and magazines and plants and friendly quick service. They have a nice selection of wines. Coffee is not extraordinary, but solid. Carrot cake was delicious.

Super place for brunch. Even for a Saturday noon and a smallish place we didn't have to wait long. Fun place - bit tight, but not as bad as some places. Lots of decorations to add a fair bit of character. Started off the weekend with a mimosa - made with fresh squeezed orange juice. We had the breakfast sandwich, classic breakfast, and sakshuka and all we're nicely presented and tasty. Really liked the potato bread toast, and the polenta went perfectly with the shakshuka. Not overly pricy - $60 for 3. Would definitely come back.

I went here for brunch on a beautiful summer day; sat inside because it was too hot for me to sit out! We had a birthday and the staff were very helpful with the cake and all. I really like the decor and the ambiance; the food was good, the portion size is a bit smaller than what you would expect for the price. The coffee was really good. It was an overall good experience.

Went out for a team lunch and everyone was quite happy with what they had! My chicken sliders with spicy tomato sauce were amazing and chicken was very tender! The salad was a good acidic break from the sliders. Would definitely go there again for trying other things on the menu...

I do love this place, some of the fan favourites are not always available however still worth while for the ambiance and the staff. Cozy little corner restaurant that would be even more prefect in the cold weather.
