I always try to find good burgers when I visit Japan, and my current trip that involves staying in Daiba, which is touristy-part of Tokyo, provided an opportunity to try this restaurant.
When I try new burger restaurants, whether in Japan or not, I tend to order something simple, which I have found to be a good way to gauge the overall quality and freshness of the food. I stepped it up a bit this time by ordering their avocado burger. In my experience, unlike cheese or bacon, that particular topping doesn't hide or obscure any flavors of the meat or bun, so I was good to go.
Unlike many restaurants that offer a "set" that includes a side and a drink, I was pleased to discover that the drink can be draft beer, at least at this location. Anyway, the set that Kua Aina offers includes a modest amount of fries and onion rings, along with a small drink. I paid a little more to get a really large draft beer. I mean large! I skipped the second meal on my flight from SJC to NRT, so I was both hungry and thirsty.
The burger was great, and in addition to the expected avocado, grilled onions, lettuce, and tomato were included. Although I didn't need it, they provide paper wrap for those to eat their burger that way. The two others in my party did that, mainly because their burgers had more toppings tnan mine, and the paper helped the toppings from escaping when eating.
The restaurant is not that large, but it had ample seating, to include a long bar-like table that overseas Tokyo Bay.
Very pleased.
