Apollo Inn

This is one of the best bars i have been to in a long time! Amazing knowledge regarding alcohol and the menu, great advice personalised to my taste. High price but honestly it's totally worth it. Great atmosphere. Felt like stepping through a portal to somewhere in Western Europe and total cognitive dissonance when stepping out. Quality food as well, great flavours. Definitely will come back here again. Special mention to the lovely French waiter whose name I didn't get but was so awesome all night!

Beautiful and unassuming speakeasy that focuses on quality and amazing service. Even on school nights Apollo is generally packed, so book ahead at peak times. The drinks are on point and complimented by their tasty food menu; the potato focaccia is particularly moreish.

Atmosphere 9/10 A classy cocktail bar with table and bar seating. About average back bar but overall matching classy design elements. Pleasant music volume, allowing conversations. Drinks 9/10 Recommendation: Martini Even though I’ll give minus points for pre-mixed Martini from a bottle, it tasted great. Big menu. Elegant coasters. Hand-cut ice. Simple presentation, without garnish Service 9.5/10 Bartenders are attentive and very professional - you can see the precision and efficiency in every movement. When you go to the bathroom, your Martini will be stored in a freezer until you come back. Prices are a bit above average for Melbourne, but well deserved!

I was having flashbacks to my pre retirement work days when we entered. The place is quite dark but your eyes do adjust and the noise level was high but that helps make the atmosphere. Great drink selection from the mundane to exotic. Thankfully we were taken by friends because i am not sure we would have ever found it on our own.

A great small in the CBD, Marco the host was amazing as well as all the staff,the cocktails are very much on point with a great selection of next level bar snacks, the Corpse Reviver was my favourite cocktail of all the bars I visited in Melbourne, well worth the wait if you have to line up

A wonderful find! We came after dinner for drinks. We initially went to another bar close by that had called it in for the night....and we discovered Apollo Inn! It was divinely orchestrated 🙏 We arrived around midnight on grand final night so there was no wait. I imagine this little gem would be bursting with patrons normally. Atmosphere 5/5 Intimate, classy space with a cool vibe and beautiful welcoming energy. Dimmed lights are beautiful even though we needed our phone torches to read the menu 🤣 There is seating on sofas and high stools by the bar. I think you'd definitely need to book to secure sofa seating on most nights. Bar Tenders Happy, friendly and chilled team. Nice having a little banter together with the bar tenders. Very professional with great energy. The energy of the team is a big part of the ambiance....so well done on the culture. Drinks 4.5/5 We had the Amaro as the Montenegro wasn't available. It was delicious. Beautiful ice cubes.... possibly one too many for the glass size which was okay as we added to our water. Also note, I'm not a bar tender or a big drinker so maybe it was the perfect number of cubes. Host 10/5 Deepak was absolutely wonderful. Warm, friendly, accommodating and professional. He was the lovely welcoming face greeting us as we entered through the cool brown leather doors. He made sure we were comfortable, happily moved us from the bar to sofa area when seating was available. He also checked in on us when another patron was a little past his happy hour and wanting to join us. Having someone that doesn't know you, yet checks in on you to see you're okay is very kind. Deepak thank you. You're a kind soul and we appreciated you looking out for us. Keep up the wonderful service, wouldn't be surprised if you open your own service in future! Conclusion Definitely would recommend. I'll be back and book ahead to try the good next time. Keep having a great team culture as it shines through and the atmosphere is already on point.

Apollo Inn is a dark, moody bar. We went on a Friday evening and it was at full capacity (definitely book ahead). For an extremely intimate (see: small) venue they have tried to pack as many seats as possible. With a single file walkway between the bar and tables, I witnessed the wait staff and customers squeezing past each other and consistently bumping into our chairs as they did so. Service could have been more attentive. I found myself waiting for someone to clear my drink, bring another drink menu, order a drink etc. Thankfully the bartenders were quick to whip up drinks & done so expertly. We ordered 3 drinks from the seasonal menu, and a dirty martini. The highlight was the wonderful take on a Pina Colada. The Paloma was too smokey for my taste. Dark, moody, intimate bar. Could be great but fell short of the mark for me.

A great little cosy cocktail bar. Quality ingredients served in an intimate setting. A really good Negroni and a Gibson, although the Gibson had been prepared and was poured from a bottle. We were lucky to walk in and get seats at the bar, but I think reservations are possible for a guaranteed spot.
