Anchor Bay Inn

We prepaid months in advance. When we arrived, the man at the front desk had already given our room to someone else. Additionally, after trying to find a room comparable in price, he misbooked those as well. Instead, they gave us a room with a double bed instead of a king, and the heater was broken, making the room extremely hot. It also took him about 40 minutes to figure out how to help us, and he had to call his boss on his cellphone. The recent remodel was poorly done, the toilet paper holder, showerhead, and faucets were all installed incorrectly and were broken. We were never offered a refund or any form of compensation. We decided to leave a day early.

I read "some" positive reviews before booking so I was hopeful--what a mistake. No air in room. Room smelled of urine and God knows what else. It was filthy, not cleaned from the previous people, hair all over the bathroom. STUNK. STUNK. STUNK.

DO NOT STAY HERE. IT IS A DUMP. THE ROOMS SMELL LIKE CIGARETTES, URINE, AND GOD KNOWS WHAT ELSE. THE AIR DOES NOT WORK. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY GET AWAY WITH CHARGING ALMOST $100 A NIGHT.

They have remodeled the room we stayed in. It looks like the photos. The new carpet was installed over a very creeky floor. The new plumbing has not been tightened to the sink or shower, so it all turns with the handles. The new shower wall is taped to the wall. No electrical plugs in bathroom; No ice machine. The interior room was clean with refrig and microwave.

The lady at the office was nice last night when we arrived but the gentleman she had with her came out shirtless and looked at me and my fiancé sideways-yes in the office. When we got into our room we started checking it out and it was beyond filthy the walls in the corner are mushy and soft the bathroom reeked of cat pee it looked like a cat had been spraying behind the bathroom door there was something brown in the tub and the grout on the shower was moldy pink and so was the shower curtain. The fridge was very dirty and had something that resembled pee in the bottom of it. Definitely was not cleaned. Worst part was when we went to goto bed the comforter had some giant black stain on it🤢177$ for straight up filth not to mention the shower downspout isn’t connected to the wall and the shower head leaks bad like it’s messing up the paint bad.

We got a great room. Seems they had it remodeled but whoever they hired had no clue what they were doing (my husband is a GC). Biggest complaint was the TVs didn't work & we had 2 kids with nothing to do. Nowhere outside to play either (off 101). Also, since it is off the 101, it was very loud in the room. We met some great people though. Would stay again as long as they fix the TV issue. Also, pool looks like it hasn't been working in a long time (don't think it will be anytime soon)

The bathroom floor was not cleaned as there is sheetrock dust on the floor. The new bathroom sink drawers was nasty dirty. The bath towels! Oh Lord thank God we did bring our own towels. Then the holes in the bedding. I was disappointed with our stay. Druggist live on bottom floor. Which caused alot of traffic and noise threw out the night.

Family stayed here over the 4th of July. The stove was in the middle of the room and they couldn’t even access the sink. The rooms were hot and stuffy, and there was no air. The windows didn’t have screens and they were on the first floor and couldn’t open the windows. Was told we would get a call back and have not after multiple attempts. Building itself was not up to code and had some pretty obvious safety hazards.

This is probably one of the WORST places I have ever stayed at. There was hair in the bath tub, stains (I don't even want to imagine what kind) on the bedsheets, and plumbing issues. The sink in the bathroom was clogged! So freaking nasty! I had to sleep on the chair because I couldn't bring myself to even sit on the bed. One person even said they got Covid from staying there. I would have complained to the staff but I was in a rush to get to where I needed to be so I didn't want to waste my breath. Please people, don't stay here. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

Staff was very kind and accommodating and willing to give us an immediate refund. The photos advertising this room on booking.com were very misleading and manipulative. The staff even admitted to my boyfriend and I that the photos had been edited to look better than what they were. They made the rooms look up to date and clean. We spent maybe 3 minutes in the room before we turned around and left. The room is extremely small. The shower is stained brown/yellow and whatever fake plastic lining on the side was pealing up. The paint on the toilet seat lid was bubbling up. And the bed was most definitely not a queen. Highly do not recommend ever staying here.

This place says they did a 2023 family remodel but it's so dirty the beds the microwave and the bathroom is filthy dirty and terrible the service is fine but the hotel isn't don't come here.

Towels are dirty. Restroom needs fixing. No AC. Not friendly service. Hot water in and out. Water making noise all night. Old run down motel. Bed sink my body in. Broken spring. Price at $130 crazy expensive.

Absolutely horrible! Sheets on bed were either dirty or hadn't been changed. Sink didn't drain, garbage full from previous tenant. Surfaces were dirty and hadn't been cleaned. No mirror in bathroom. Chair torn and dirty. Noisy. Would have complained and left but got back to room late and office was closed. Never again!

Not bad at all for a brief overnight stay in August 2023. The walls of the room do look old but inside they are newly refurbished. Staff was friendly and helped us through kind of a late check-in at ~8-9pm. Many restaurant options nearby within a 3-4 min drive.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Before I booked I had read the reviews which weren't bad. I'm here to tell you this place is bad. It's old so I expected it to be a little run down but our room was very run down. Let me start with the carpet since it's the first thing you see. There were huge black stains as if someone stepped in oil and walked all around the room. Our room had two queens and a sofa. As soon as I sat down on the sofa I sunk into a the old cushions and got a big whiff of smelly dog! Supposedly pets are not allowed and the desk clerk made a big deal out of it when I checked in. I don't own a dog or any pet for that matter and I sure don't want smell somebody else's stinky dog. My husband is allergic to dog dander and had sneezing fits all night. One of the chairs in the room collapsed after my husband sat i. It. He called the desk clerk but she seemed more concerned about her chair than him! The mattress sunk in and all night I was trying to keep from sliding in that sink hole. The bathroom is the worst of all. There is no exhaust fan to keep the moisture and smells away. Going #2? You better open up the front door cuz that's the only way the smell will dissipate. The same goes for the moisture after you shower. There are mold spores on the ceiling above the shower. The linoleum floor is ancient and filthy and the bathroom door is chipped and water stained as if the bathroom had flooded. I have sympathy for the owners, obviously they can't afford to make the necessary renovations but I want comfort and cleanliness when I book a stay anywhere. It doesn't have to be a new hotel but it does have to be clean with a good bed. Unfortunately the Anchor Bay Inn didn't meet even those minimal standards.

Amazing underrated hotel. My husband and I enjoyed our stay. They are very accommodating! Great location, inexpensive, tidy, and have a night service bell that's ACTUALLY effective and attentive. We checked in at 2am and they offered us late check out. We liked the room and location so much we have decided to stay another night. Gorgeous ceilings and a good sunset view from our room. Modern TV with HDMI and USB. Large bathroom, microwave and fridge. A good tip is walk four minutes down the street to Don's off 21st street and get breakfast/lunch/ice cream/pie.

Extremely friendly staff. Fairly good cleaning on the room. We had enough hot water for three morning showers but it would periodically change to super cold or randomly hot. The parking lot was full with lots of coming and going but barely any neighbor noises through the walls. The heating is outdated but worked well. Wouldn't recommend for smaller children but overall was a great room.

Rooms were clean. That's the good. Shower was horrible. Variable water pressure and temp. Sink had a leak. Staff was not very service oriented. Two people in our group vape and were told they had to go in the alley behind the pool or they would be asked to leave. I believe there could have been a more tactful way of handling it. The pool itself was closed. If you have any skin sensitivity do not stay here, I ended up with hives in the middle of the night, maybe to much detergent?

The way they operate is shameful. The hotel is old and the amenities reflect that. The main things being the bathtub knobs are busted and the toilet leaks. But, they also clearly don't clean thoroughly because we had no toilet paper and we found someone's vape under the bed. They will only provide you the number of towels you dirty. We are a party of five and only got three and he only gave me three to replace the three used. What's worse is he asked me not to return them as dirty as one was "because stains are hard to get out." I'm on my period and needed to clean up. Obviously. He promptly told me to "use something else." He also told me he would be charging us if the stains don't come out. In another review which I unfortunately didn't read until after my own experience, they charged another couple $150 for "damage" to a towel from removing makeup. Basically, they will charge you for being human and can't even clean their own rooms. I feel dirty and ashamed and I am furious about how he responded. Finally, he is refusing to give me his boss' number. There are plenty of cheap hotels closer to the beach which I highly recommend. We only went with this one as our trip was spontaneous and the last remaining affordable dog-friendly places.

Cute motel, best price for this area of the southern Oregon coast. Nice guy at the front desk, much better than the Motel 6 I almost went to.

Wish I could give a zero star. Had a reservation booked for a month, even called last week and asked about my reservation and how late I could check in. Worked all day then drove 4 hours to get here and the guy in the office doesn't even open the door, just the window, says he doesn't speak english and isn't taking reservations. I showed him my email that said I already had a reservation booked for a month, he just shrugs says "no manager, no English" and closes the window in my face. Completely dumbfounded. What are you even doing here if you are useless? Don't even bother trying to make a reservation here, it will not be honored.

This hotel cost $150. Bathroom was filthy with dirty faucet and toothpaste in the sink. The toilet is dirty as well. There was no air conditioning or a fan to bring in outside air. Room and bathroom are hot and stuffy and had to rig a fan placed in front of an open window to bring in fresh air. You can't leave the window open at night as it is right on Main Street. The key wouldn't open the door and the desk clerk had to jerk the door to get in. Don't stay here it's not worth your money.

Clean Mom and pop inn. I was comfortable with my two year old. The sunrise was gorgeous! I slept well. The decor is 70's style, hardwood ceilings. Next time I'm here I will make it a point to stay here.

I have to vent this, I have a personal friend that is a disabled partial amputy homeless vet. He has been dealing with veterans affairs for some time. He was finally put into the anchor bay inn in Reedsport by the veterans administration. His rent was payed and never behind. He recently had a turn for the worse with his health. So what happened, the motel denied the vets payment and kicked him out for being a fkn liability to there reputation if he passed in there room. So apparently they would rather him be homeless to save there 3 star reputation. He has been a close personal friend and now is living with me and my family. In todays turmoil, a business that would rather put a vet out on the street should not receive any business from anyone. Again this is the anchor Bay Inn on main street 101 in Reedsport. Please share and get the word out. The hell with that business! What happened to compassion and caring

Stayed there on Saturday April 10th 2021. Motel people fraudulently charged my wifes card for damages.. guess what the damages were? Just guess... A dirty washcloth with my daughter's mascara on it. So $150 for some mascara on a washcloth, that we had to ask for to begin with, cause the room wasn't supplied with any towels or washcloths, People upstairs were very loud, and the ice machine was broken

Don't stay here unless you have no other choice that the streets ! Dirty, run down with just the bare necessities. Thin, worn towels, a toilet with such poor water pressure, flushing took 4 tries for four squares and urine! Refrigerator was dirty, curtain pull fell out of the wall. Tub/shower needs sealed and remodeled from mildew. Did I mention the smell!? Smelled of mildew and old building! We didn't even sleep and won't be staying here again!

So, we were driving around for HOURS (5) looking for a hotel that was affordable and OPEN (after 10pm-3am) It's currently spring break and everyone was PACKED or closed or rude (Best Western) and pricy. We were about to sleep in the car! Little tiny hybrid. We rolled into the office parking and rang the night bell expecting someone to not answer again. To our suprise almost immediately a cheerful man came to the door. Checked us in with a rate of $58 (when other hotels we're offering $80-up. I thought "wow this will be a shit hole." Because of the price. It's actually VERY nice. Big bathroom, good room size, a TV with HDMI and USB plugs. Ways a bonus because I could charge my phone with the TV. The people who say there are few outkest probably didn't notice there are some on the both sides of the bed. Please support hotels like this. Affirdable, friendly, filled with good service, and clean!

Our family booked 2 rooms. One of them is ok, the other is not, you get what you paid for, plus the drain in the shower is rusty. I would say once you picked up the key go to your room immediately, if not ok, exchange another room if possible

No AC......Its 87 in town and 94 in the room. There is a little portable fan. Oh I forgot ...... the pool has no water. All windows and doors are open..... I'm writing this as I sit outside waiting for room to possibly cool down . Since we'll probably sleep with the windows open ...,.and this place sits right along side one of the busiest highways in Oregon..... I can only gues how " peaceful " this nigh will be. The two stars are for a clean room at least .

Stayed there for 1 night this past weekend, we booked and paid in advance on hotels.com. Upon check in I presented the man with my card so he could charge me the pet fee because we had our dog with us, he ran the card and on the little pin pad I put in my pin number then it asked if the amount was correct and it was just a pet fee I hit yes got our room keys and we went on about our day. Came home the following day and I had 2 charges on my account the pet fee that I authorized and a $150 charge that was pending from them. We travel often and I assumed this was just one of them charges where they put a hold on your card and it falls off if there is no damages but I was never informed of a deposit. Well it never fell off it actually cleared in my account. I called them today and asked about it and I was informed that they charged me a $150 flat rate fee, I asked what was damaged and the bold excuse he had the nerve to give me was that there was a used washcloth in the bathroom that had black smears all over it a washcloth that I had to go and actually ask for because there was no towels or anything in my room upon checkin and then when I let them know there was no towels they questioned me as if I was lying and then lady who got my towels proceeded to tell me that her coworker said that he put towels in the room um no he didn't come look for yourself. Oh and after the gentleman on the phone informed me I was being charges for a stained washcloth he went on to add that they took pictures of said washcloth. Yes they took a picture of a dirty washcloth, and I know you are all dying to know what black substance stained a washcloth so bad that it was worthy of being charged $150.... well it was my teenage daughters mascara and liquid eyeliner that she washed off of her face before bed! There you have it, I contacted my bank today and well I had to go through a whole big ordeal of canceling my old card getting a new one and now I have to switch over all of my automatic payments to my new card because my credit union rep said that once the charge is reversed by them there is nothing stopping them from "fraudulently charging my card again" because they have already done it once. And yes those were her words she said it happens more than people know which is why the charge is being reversed instantly.... so sorry about the long post but yeah I don't recommed that you stay here unless you want your card fraudulently charged for using their golden washrags that you have to beg for to begin with! Oh and the rooms are a bit drab the people upstairs from us were very loud and the ice machine was broken but all of that was actually overlooked because the price was right until they charged me to use a washrag!

Stayed here 3 times during a 12 month period, 2010-2011. Room clean, adequate. Exactly one electrical outlet for appliances in bathroom lighting fixture. Plugged in curling iron in bathroom outlet while I blow-dried my hair in the bedroom. Rates standard for the area. Eat breakfast elsewhere. Previous owners a bit odd, however, the place is recently under new ownership. Had no real complaints. May try it again if needed. (Quick update: seems to be out of business as of Fall 2012. Sad to see small businesses go under.)

The rooms are clean, but small. "Continental breakfast" is coffee in the office and prepackaged rolls (you can only have one per person, they watch). Owners are friendly and helpful. Wireless wi-fi is free. Parking is adequate. Fridge and microwave in room. Basic accommodation, priced competive to area. Single outlet in bath light fixture.

There was a fish hook in the carpet, the shower needed an deep scrubbing, the water for the shower went hot and cold, and the tv was super small.

Was passing thru Reedsport and decided at last minute to spend the night. Stayed upstairs in pet-friendly room. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. New carpet, Fridge, microwave in room. No AC but had a fan. AC not really needed on coast. Cable TV flat screen, Free Wi-Fi. Friendly staff. Excellent Value for the money. Will definitely stay here again
