"Who’s to say what form divine protection may take? Known as the Amulet Market, the corridors are lined with stalls whose only wares are thousand upon thousands of sacred trinkets bestowed with protections. The exact protections of each amulet vary, offering to ward off evil of all manner both spiritual and physical in nature. Filled of locals and visitors alike, everyone is here to pick through the vendors’ wares for the special medallion or figurine that will do the trick for them: protecting the harvest, bringing good health, blessing a new home. When it comes to the amulets themselves, there aren’t a lot of hard and fast rules. Few of the articles for sale are larger than, say, a baseball, while most fit easily in the palm of one’s hand. Many are purported to contain particles from sacred temples far away, such as spent incense, blessings from monks, etc. The amulets can take the form of Buddhas bearing a range of expressions, to shards of bone, medallions, chunks of wood from sacred spaces varying expressions, brass phalluses, or even real human parts – like hair. All these elements combine to create tokens of good luck that have been protecting generations of working Thai men from all sorts of terrible fates. At the Amulet market, there are no shamans around to help in the divination process. It’s up to each individual doing the digging to identify which treasure speaks to their need. This makes a simple people-watching excursion to the Amulet Market one of the more gratifying and mystical experiences around, even if you yourself aren’t looking to take home a small something with magical potential. Amulets can cost as little as 5 baht (the same price as a trip to some public toilets) and up to hundreds of baht. Prices are rarely displayed, implying some haggling or bargaining is necessary. While you’re in the area, don’t forget about the nearby side alleys (heading towards the water). Some heavy rings and more amulets may catch your eyes, and there are enough cheap food stalls to feed the staff that work in the immediate area." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

"A Superstitious Business Thais are a very superstitious bunch. This colourful market near the Chao Phraya River is where collectors, monks, taxi drivers and other people in dangerous lines of work go to pick out lucky amulets that will protect them from harm or bring them good fortune. Extremely unhygienic and crowded outside. The area next to the river is deserted. This place can be an eye opening place for tourists but be careful of scams. This business is not related to buddhism. These people just take advantage of the religion and make money into their pockets. Just look around. Don’t support them.

Fun and interesting place to spend some time window shopping buying Thai Amulets not all are typical Buddhist images some are very weird and strange to most Westerners, many of these amulets are meant to attract wealth sexual partners, protection fame success in business or careers Most of the Amulets in this market are mass produced and very cheap. However some amulets can be hundreds of years old and blessed by revered Monks and can be quite valuable.

A wonderful & well stocked market selling every amulet you could ever need or want. There are cute thai cats at some of the stalls too and they're even friendly! The market is partially covered so good sun protection and mostly good rain protection too. Staff were very kind friendly and extremely helpful. If you are looking to purchase any statues larger than the figurines in the photo I reccomend you bring at least 2000 Bht as I only went with 800 & sadly didn't have enough to buy any as a result 😢 .... BUT I was still able to buy many amulets and small figurines and some jewellery(pictured) with just enough leftover to grab a refreshing thai tea from one of the nearby drinks shops on the way out. It's not just or even mainly for tourists, I saw some monks perusing the wares too which was cool. Highly recommend this market!

A fun place to visit. very interesting. no haggling or harrassment so it’s a comfortable visit. a lot of the objects are repeated from shop to shop so make sure to check for prices in different places. most of the items are of lower quality, this is not an antiques market. I will definitely be including this in my standard bangkok tour as people can buy tokens at ang price point. also there are some weird items.

Interesting but underwhelming. Recommend only if you have extra time after grand palace and want to explore. Mostly just window shopping, don’t think I’ll buy anything there

Trok Sanampra Soi3 Very reputable and famous store that offers original items distributed directly from temples and at temple price rate. Original famous old amulets are also displayed.

مكان جميل وقديممم لمحبين القديم If you're looking All kinds and all old thing AND at the right price!!! Much cheaper than any store or online. We prefer to buy from the shop owners who are sweet, so don't bargain with anyone who is less than kind. Keep walking and you'll find what you need just a couple steps ahead. So bl

Very interesting experience. Kids enjoyed looking at all the amulets. Left me with many questions about what the amulets are for, who they represent, etc. Busy, winding alley filled with stalls and shops.
