"If you have an American Girl collector on your hands, then, well, this is the mothership. Besides the shop, there’s a hair salon (yep, a hair salon for dolls), a photo studio, and a café, where kids and their dolls can feast together on brunch, tea, lunch, or dinner. Seating times are strict, and reservations are required."

What a beautiful experience! I felt like a little girl again! Beautiful displays, service is exceptional! The Cafe was incredible with delicious food and top notch service. The Salon was so beautiful! Danny was incredible and fit us in although we were super late for our hair appointment. My daughter left so happy wanting to come back soon!

Had the best time at American Girl! We were a little late for our cafe reservation and they got us in no problem. Our waitress, Rosalia, was the best! So friendly and listened to the girls very well. The Mac n cheese came with a heart shaped piece of toast, which my niece LOVED. Chicken fingers were really good as well. The shopping was fantastic, they had items that are sold out on the website. Finally, the salon was great! Unfortunately we were only able to get appointments for the dolls, but next time we’ll book for the girls as well. Their dolls’ hair looked brand new! The hairdressers were very good at chatting with the girl as they worked on their dolls. It is pricey once you add up dining, salon, and shopping, but it really is worth it. Top notch experience, we will be back!

This experience was the reason we took a trip to NYC! Skip past if you don't want to know why. 10 years ago, i took my first trip. Seven years ago, i took my second. This spured my nieces interest as she was watching videos on American girl dolls not long after. Four years ago, my niece asked me to take her to the American girl store. Last year, i picked up a Julie doll to I booked it now when she was 10, and at the age of 11, she got to have one of her dreams come true, to visit the American Girl store and purchase her first doll. When we got inside, myself, my sister and my nieces couldn't believe our eyes with what we were greeted by. Wall to wall floor to ceiling, American Girl Dolls. As we got to the centre of the store, I approached a store attendant ( i want to say her Name was Sharon) I told her the above story and she knew the assignment, hoping straight into her excellent customer service roll. She greeted my niece and walked us around the store. She was both very attentive and knowledgeable. Going through the truly me dolls first and then going back to where we came in to show us Julie, before taking us down stairs to the restaurant area and show us the Dolls through the years. Before taking us up and showing us where guests and dolls alike could be pampered and get their ears pierced. My niece ended up picking up Nicki, she also ended up getting her dolls ears pierced. A few days later we headed back to pick up a cute Bunny set to go with Nicki and she ended up getting a mini doll. The service here was second to non from the moment we walked in to making to purchase and then getting the ears piercing for the Doll. This was a truly memorable and magnificent experience for my niece and as adults myself and my sister appreciated the effort made as well as sheer size of the store. It made us slightly jealous and in awe that we never had anything like that for our Favourites when we were younger. If you have a young one that is a Fan of these fun Dolls, I highly recommend coming to this store, even if you are an adult with no real interest i think you would still appreciate the effort that's gone into the display, layout and decoration of the store as well as the customer service that is provided to the little one in your life.. be it daughter sister niece or grandkid. The American girl store has a lot to offer with 5 star service, it's hard not to appreciate this store and it would be a shame to miss out.

We had an incredible time (grandma, mom & 9 year old) for lunch! Definitely make a reservation & aim for earlier timeframe to avoid crowds. We ate at 11:30 and it was perfect. When you check in, there is a wall of approximately 40 loaner dolls & high chairs to pick from for your meal. You get a few sweet freebies at lunch. Welcome sweet, three-tiered appetizers, main course & mini dessert. Couldn't have had a better time. Escalator & elevator access to the lower-level cafe with ample, clean restrooms. Can't wait to go back!

While the store is incredible, avoid the cafe at all costs. The food is awful. I went in with mediocre expectations, but was seriously disappointed with quality and service was lackluster. I get that it is a busy location, but at the same time, food shouldn't come out cold or undercooked. Made a few simple requests (dressing on side for a salad) and burger medium rare, and both came out incorrect. French fries and chicken fingers came out undercooked, and the appetizers (meatballs/raviolis) were cold and hard. I felt like I was eating school cafeteria food. Even the experience was mediocre. Had to wait 15 minutes after reservation to be seated, The dolls don't stay attached to table really well, either. Granted the cost is minimal, comparatively, but just even cooking the food properly would be an upgrade.

A beautiful 2-story store and museum in one, dedicated to showcasing the American Girl dolls of the present and the past. My whole family enjoyed our time in the store, the salon (make sure to book an appointment ahead of time) and the cafe. The salon was my favorite part! Both I (a first generation American Girl doll fan) and my two daughters got our dolls hair and nails done, and it was totally worth it! I recommend the sweetheart braid. It’s just gorgeous! My girls also got their own hair and nails done to match their dolls, which was such a fun experience for them. We ate dinner in the cafe. Our server was wonderful, and the food was really good! It’s a pre-fix, 3 course meal, with a few different entree options. We thought the entrees were a bit overcooked, but loved the tiered appetizer tray and the dessert. The best part of the cafe was getting to have our dolls by our side! That made other experience very special! Overall, we loved our time here and can’t wait to come back!

American Girl Place NY was a fantastic experience for our family! The customer service was truly A+ — every staff member was friendly, helpful, and made us feel so welcome. The store itself was spotless, beautifully organized, and offered an impressive selection of dolls and accessories. Our 3-year-old was thrilled to choose her own doll, making the moment so special for her (and us!). We walked away as one happy family, with memories to cherish. Highly recommend this spot for any family looking to create a magical experience!

Yelp
*** American Girl Cafe, Lunch Experience *** A very cute experience and the food is as expected, maybe slightly better. $30 per person prix fix comes with a drink, mini cinnamon roll to start, an entree, and a dessert. There was also a small tower with appetizers like meatballs, fruit and toasted ravioli. Not a bad deal, actually. It's not somewhere I'd go just for the food, obviously, but as part of the whole experience it's totally worth it. In reality there is nothing really special other than the little highchairs that they give for your doll to dine with you, but this one little thing makes it such a special experience for young girls (or in our case, my older mom). She got such a hoot out of the fact that there was a chair for her doll and wanted to take all the pictures. We made reservations for Christmas Eve several weeks in advance, but apparently they do take walk-ins. Food: Club with Sweet Potato Fries - this was okay, but we opted to get this and take it to go as a snack for later, which it was perfect for. Ravioli - actually quite good, this dish comes with mushrooms and chicken and a light sauce. Coconut Crusted Salad - definitely get the dressing on the side as the table next to us did not and it was drowning in dressing. This was not bad. I'm pretty happy with what we ordered. The pizza and the chicken tenders that our neighbors had did not look great (looked like a frozen pizza). *** American Girl Store *** Good luck getting out of here without buying something. I had no idea it was so large - there are two stories of different dolls on display and of course tons of clothing and accessories to buy for them. We spent over an hour just walking around looking at all of the dolls. (Also put it up for my 2000th review!)

Yelp
We surprised my daughter with a Personal Shopping Experience at American Girl Place - New York. We went under the guise that she could go in and see the store and look at the dolls there. She was so happy and grateful for that, and so we of course decided she deserved one (yea, we're those idiots lol). So she had a personal shopper, Miss Sharon. Sharon was WONDERFUL! She took her time to make my daughter feel so special and understand the history of American Girl and how best to navigate the process. My daughter picked Kavi Sharma (2023 Doll of the Year) and some accessories (my favorite one of them being a Buffalo Bills T-Shirt). She also went to have her hair done. She opted not to have Kavi's hair done because she "just got her" and wanted to wait to do that. Note: if you pay to have your child's hair done it automatically comes with having their doll's hair done too! She had a great time, and we really enjoyed seeing the joyous look on her face. I left with an empty wallet and an ecstatic daughter!

Yelp
Boy did this store bring some nostalgia! It was heartwarming to share the experience with my daughter for her first time in New York City! Everything in the store is VERY expensive but you go into this store knowing that. They have grown so much since I was a kid and the dolls the creators have come up with are unreal in the best way. My daughter was in awe. She is in love with the Lila line since she is a gymnast like my daughter. One of the best things about the American Girl brand is each doll is relatable in some way to someone. They also have their Truly Me line where you create your own doll! The employees were all helpful and kind. The store is massive and has everything you could be looking for. We had such a wonderful time and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
While visiting NYC, we decided to stop by the American Girl Place for our daughter's birthday. Overall, we had a good experience and would recommend it for any girl who loves dolls and accessories. They also sell some boy dolls just FYI. Given the hefty price range ($115-130 per doll and $10-30 per accessory), this may be our one and done ;) the staff were friendly and helpful. We visited on a Thursday and it wasn't crowded. It's a cute concept where you can find a doll that fits your personal and/or looks and all different types of accessories from clothing to bedroom decor. They have a salon where both the girl and her doll can get their hairs done. They also have a cafe where you can dine with your doll sitting next to you (if you didn't purchase a doll yet or don't have one, they have ones you can borrow). We ate at the cafe which has a pre fixe menu for $30 per person which includes a mini cinnamon roll, an appetizer tier with carrots, cucumbers, fried ravioli, meatball, and fruits, one entree, a complimentary drink, and a chocolate mousse dessert. There was plenty of food but the quality was average. I didn't care for the cinnamon buns or chocolate mousse. My one issue was that our female server seemed rushed and when we asked her to take some pictures, they all came out blurry because she was moving so fast :/ it would have been nice to get one decent photo to remember this expensive experience!

Yelp
Overall, our experience here was better than I expected. Be ready to drop a good amount of money there if you are purchasing a doll, clothes, food and enjoying the salon (more than $300), but it is a special experience for children! My favorite part of the store is the cafe! Make sure to make your reservation months in advance since they weren't taking any walk ins. For $27/person, you get unlimited drinks, three tiered plated apps and an entree. I had the Cobb salad which was great. Options for the kids included mac and cheese, chicken tenders and pizza. The apps included meatballs, fried ravioli, cucumber with some whipped cream cheese on top and fruit. The food was pretty average but the service was outstanding and made the experience! Everyone there was so great with children and worked extra hard to make sure the experience was fun for everyone. Kids get to bring their dolls or can borrow one. They provide a high chair for the doll to sit next to the child. We had also purchased the birthday package which included a cake, ice cream and a gift bag (which included a birthday American girl doll outfit) for $40/table. We were so full so they boxed up the cake for us to take home and we picked at the ice cream. They had games at the table to entertain the kids while waiting for the food! I'd highly recommend for a child's birthday or special occasion. The rest of the store was not too busy on a Friday mid day. We had made the girls salon appts ahead of time as well. Prices of the salon were a little pricey but it's an experience that the girls will remember. The energy of the employees and how they interacted with the children reminded me of Disney employees; fun and engaging!

Yelp
I took my niece to the American Girl Doll store for a birthday party. This store is beautiful. I'm sure every little girl that visits feels special. My niece had an amazing time at the birthday party. The treats were delicious. The birthday cake and ice cream tasted great. I enjoyed the complementary glass of champagne that came with the birthday package for the adults. My niece also enjoyed playing in the store and seeing all of the beautiful dolls. I will definitely visit again with her.

Yelp
This store is massive. American Girl dolls have been around for forever. Back in my day (gosh, that makes me sound old) they were just dolls. Now, the American Girl brand has taken on SO much more. In the store you can find every and any type of doll imaginable and every type of doll related toy and accessory. Dolls from all different decades and countries, dolls that play different types of sports and dolls that enjoy all sorts of activities. You could easily spend hours making your way around the store and checking everything out. There is so much to see and do, and of course my 2.5 year old had a blast checking out of the different dolls and toys. With that said, the actual concept of building a doll and picking out clothes and accessories was above her head. I think that the best age for this would be 5+. And although she loved some of the other pretend play toys like changing stations and beds the prices are definitely high for what you are getting. Not surprising of course, given how touristy the location. It's just hard to justify when you can find the same toys elsewhere for a much lower price. Overall, it's still a very cool and different toy store experience. I'll bring my girls back to build their own dolls when they are a little older!

Yelp
3.5 Today was my first experience with American Girl and the Cafe. I attended a birthday party in their private room. The party was to start at 2PM, but the host ran a little late, by only a couple minutes, but it seemed to throw the entire event off. Right before we entered the room for the party, the girls were allowed to either use their own doll or could borrow one. From the moment we entered, everything seemed rushed. To pick our drink, pick our food option, the cupcake portion for the kids, the clean-up , and it was very obvious. When you're spending a substantial amount for a party, you shouldn't have to feel that way. The space itself was decent and arranged pretty well for the kids, but in my opinion, I couldn't justify the amount for what you actually receive. The food was just okay as one person didn't like their macaroni and cheese entree, but they were willing to replace it with a burger. I went with the bow tie pasta, which was edible, but that's as far as I could go. I cant speak for any of the other adults to see if they enjoyed their meals though. Once the party was over, we made our way upsatairs, so a few of the girls could get a hair appointment for their dolls. A few of us didn't have a doll, so we purchased one. I purchased the Melodie Ellison doll, at her request, I did like that all the dolls on the lower level, had a backstory and explanation of who they were. Everything upstairs and downstairs was very neat and they have employees everywhere, to assist with questions and/or your purchase. I would give the store party a 4.5, but the party/cafe portion a 2.

Toya R.

Yelp
The food was great, the service was even better, the atmosphere is great. This is a must do for the girlies.

Priscilla L.

Yelp
Super cute place for the kids! The cafe has tea time for about $50 per person with a deposit before hand. I enjoyed the cafe but expect more sweets than savory bites! Next time I'd chose to look at the menu instead. However, staff is so friendly and the security guards make you feel safe as well!

J P.

Yelp
The store is nice and the cafe has good food and the waitress Ryan Was awesome! My complaint has to do with the wait for the cafe. We had a 1:00pm Reservation and checked in at 12:36 pm they said they were still seating the 12 pm and needed more time, understandable. However we returned at 1 and needed to check in again and then we were told to wait on another line where we waited for 20 min while a party who checked in after us were seated first. When I asked the hostess she simply stated it's out of my control meanwhile she was doing the seating. At 1:20 We were finally seated and the cafe had numerous empty tables.

Apolonia E.

Yelp
It's definitely an overly price spot, but my daughter had an amazing time celebrating her birthday at the café. They provide a doll for your child to borrow, complete with its own chair at the table and a miniature place setting. It's absolutely adorable. The food is decent, although the birthday cake was a bit dry. Nonetheless, my daughter's joy on her special day was all that really mattered. The service was pleasant, but we felt rushed as there's a one-hour time limit and they made sure to keep reminding us of it .

Yelp
y'all this place is AG doll heaven if you're into AG. my daughter received Corrine & Gwynn for Christmas and she is in love! I managed to snag an appointment at the salon for a doll & girl hair appointment & one manicure for doll & girl right after. the moment she walked into the store, she was awestruck. the large American Girl sign that greets you spans the front wall. we slowly walked around & found some Corrine Tan items, but a lot were sold out as she was Girl of the Year 2022 & her stock was getting liquidated. my daughter checked out all the dolls available before we made our way to the long line at the salon. did I mention we came the day after Christmas? not sure what I was thinking, but man, it was busy. thankfully we had an appointment, so we didn't wait long, but the services do take a while. a lot of families and children were walking up to the salon to try to snag a walk in. my husband went downstairs to try to get a walk in reservation for the cafe and was immediately turned away. lesson learned, cafe is 100% reservation only during the holiday season. my daughter picked her style for her and her doll. she also picked out the nail polish for her and her doll. she was able to take home a bottle of nail polish for her doll. her hair appointment took about 30-40 minutes. the stylist really took her time making sure my daughter was comfortable and it didn't feel too tight. after she was whisked away to do her nails and her doll had her hair done. once her doll was done, her doll was seated next to her at the manicure table. my only complaint is, I wish they had an express dry nail drops or a better dryer for their hands. her hands kept getting messed up & had to be redone. for the craziness at the AG store, the staff were professional and very sweet! the salon staff really made my daughters day! now my son on the other hand, he really enjoyed playing downstairs on the Thomas track. I didn't know this, but they sell Thomas the Train sets (wooden sets)! those are incredibly hard to find and I almost wanted to snag them for him, but after spending so much on AG stuff for my daughter, I need some time to financially recover

Cindy F.

Yelp
My princess had the best time at American Girl! We really enjoyed our visit. The Cafe is absolutely adorable, and even though the menu was limited everything was simple delicious. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation for the experience. Of course my daughter got a new doll, Courtney, the 80s doll, as it reminded her of Stranger Things... She also got some accessories and Care Bear pajamas for herself and her doll. My daughter is currently counting down the days until she can go visit again.

Tiffany I.

Yelp
All the staff here are so nice and helpful despite how obviously busy they all are. The cafe is a lovely experience, we've been here twice now and I've been impressed both times. The salon is amazing! Not only do they do a great job with the dolls, but the human girls were coming out with some stunning hairstyles!! The hair salon and cafe would make for an unforgettable celebration for any little girl's special day. The only minor critique I could make is that it was sometimes difficult to distinguish the staff from guests...a uniform or dress code would probably work well in this kind of establishment.

Yelp
I visited the Manhattan store on Saturday, September 30. I was there with my best friend and her daughter, who was celebrating her 6th birthday the same day. We took the train in and brought our childhood dolls with us (the original Pleasant Company Samantha and Kirsten for the adults and a practically brand-new Josefina for my niece). We were walking around the store for maybe 30 minutes when one of the employees, Ms. Antoinette, noticed my Samantha and politely asked if she could see her. I took her out of my bag and handed her over. Ms. Antoinette lit up as if she had seen an old friend. She asked if we were visiting the salon and, when I said yes, she took me upstairs to make sure Ms. Mo was going to be our stylist. She introduced me to Ms. Mo, explained the celebration of the day, and guided me back downstairs when we were done. She and I spoke for some time and it was abundantly clear that she ADORES her job. We ran into her again after the salon and she raved over the dolls and their new, tidy hairstyles. We talked about the book offerings (I wish they were in an area with more traffic so more kids would pick them up!) and the updates to the historical dolls. Each time we happened by her on our many hours in the store, she made a point to greet us by name. She gave my niece a handful of stickers to share with her friends back home. I couldn't believe our luck in finding a real-life angel at the store. She is a treasure and she will be part of our family's folklore for years to come. Ms. Mo in the salon was another gem. She treated us like VIPs and handled our 30+ year old dolls with the utmost care. After finding out it was my niece's actual birthday and the kid salon had been booked up, she generously provided the two non-birthday dolls with shiny crowns to bring home. She asked us great questions and told us relevant stories about her life, too. It was like spending time with a long-lost cousin. We also felt special with Ms. Maddy, our server in the cafe. She helped my niece decide on her drink and meal and even put a candle in her dessert, singing Happy Birthday along with us. For all of the birthday celebrations happening that day, it was the first time I had heard the song sung and it made my niece feel extra, extra special. Even our cashier, Ms. Mariah, was genuinely friendly. We asked if she had an extra doll box (my niece has another ancient Kirsten at home who needs a trip to the Doll Hospital and they don't have an appropriate box at home) and she said the only extras would be damaged and in the trash, and she did not want to send us home with trash. Truly -- I have been coming to Manhattan since I was a young girl and I have never, ever experienced such magic and what appeared to be genuine happiness at a store aimed at tourists. I had called ahead last week to see if we could get my niece on a cancellation list for the kid salon. I spoke with Ms. Susan, who explained there isn't a list but I could ask at the store or keep my eyes peeled in the 48-hour cancellation window. Her advice gave me hope that we might be able to get in (we didn't, but that was not because of her!). Little did I know that she was just the first of many AG employees who would fill our day with sunshine. These new friends not only made my niece's 6th birthday memorable, but made it special for her mother and for me as well.

Yelp
It sparked my childhood all over. This store was such a bright spot in my recent travel to NY. My 5 yr old really enjoyed visiting, getting her 1st doll and accessories. We had lunch in the cafe which was a magical experience and having happy birthday sang to her made it even better. The tower of appetizers was good. Especially the cinnamon rolls. There were a few dilemmas with the food (chicken tenders ) were really fried hard and the Mac and cheese was bland. My flatbread was good though. This is an experience every little girl should have. Haven't been to the one in Orlando yet but NY has my

Yelp
I came here with one of my friends and her four and half year old daughter. We came during Christmas time and it was nice that we were able to see the tree and then do some shopping. This was her first time buying an American Girl. The store is a lot and in my opinion, not well organized. A friend gave us advice to stay on the main level, which was helpful. She picked out the doll and then she wanted an outfit. The outfits were spread out all throughout the store, so it took some time to find one she liked. We spent about 45 minutes walking around and shopping. We used the cashier downstairs because it wasn't as crowded. Then we went to our reservation at the cafe for lunch which was so much fun! I would give it a 5/5 for experience and a 3/5 for food. They give a little chair for the doll to sit in at the table and a little cup for the doll (that you get to bring home). On the napkin is a pink bow that you get to keep and is a hair tie. The menu is limited and there are about 4 options for adults and 4 for children. Both adults had a salad which was tasty and large portions and the little girl had pasta with butter. The little appetizers they give you are cute, more kid food than adult food. I did like that there were healthy options (fruit). None of us ate the dessert that it came with, but it was cute. We paid for the dessert ($7) when you get to decorate a cupcake for yourself and your doll. I highly recommend this! It was adorable.

Yelp
Came here with the girls (1 and 3 year old). I know, it's a bit early, but we were in New York for my husband's work trip. I didn't have any expectations. My 3 year old zipped past the dolls, went downstairs to the train station. She played with the trains while we got in on their waitlist for walk ins. I have to say, brilliant minds for the cafe to have the dolls available for the girls when they dine at the cafe. My 3 year old fell in LOVE with her doll. So much so that we ended up buying her that doll. The cafe was great. The food was okay, decent burger, and salad. Mac n cheese was a win for the girls. They even gave the girls a cup and plate for the doll. There were two small parties and my 3 year old happily joined in for the birthday songs. It would be super cute to have a birthday party when she turns 5-6. Will probably back again!

Lidiya P.

Yelp
Found this beautiful store in our way to Times Square and my 6 yo daughter asked me to go inside. This store is truly a child dream! Must-visit for any doll enthusiast. It offers a wide variety of dolls and accessories, and the store itself is a magical experience. While it may be a bit pricey, the high-quality and attention to detail make it worth it for many doll collectors. The service is also fantastic. Unmissable experience!

Patrizia A.

Yelp
Wished I took mine here when she was 4 or 5. At 6, it's a bit late, she has passed the dolls phase. But the clothing closet thing was fun and cool. The rest she wasn't intrigue by it anymore due to her age. Still she thinks it's cute. Expensive and well it's NYC just as expected.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Will begin by saying... they say you live life again through your children. Well, the inner child in me was strung out happy. I came to the American Girl place on a daughter and mommy day out and was not disappointed. We spent maybe about 2 hours, browsing and finding the perfect doll for her. The main floor is where you can find most dolls and the downstairs is where their stories are shared. My daughter found every corner amusing and the gleam of joy in her eyes fulfilled my heart. This place is perfect! Once we were ready to be rung up the sales associate at the register was very kind to us and made conversation with my daughter. As a parent we appreciate that little voices are heard and acknowledge. Thank you American Place for my inner child experience and thank you for making my daughter's experience amazing.

Barnie J.

Yelp
I had to write this review!! Yesterday was my second time there. This time I took my daughter with my God daughter and nieces. It's a dream for all ages. The kids have a ball and the adults are so happy to see the joy on their faces. Last time we did the Brunch as well. This time was did the bday package. They go all out!! I totally recommend. You truly get value for what you spend. Will be back with the girls again.

Eden H.

Yelp
The American girl doll store is a great place to visit if you have an American girl doll or not. You can purchase the dolls themselves as well as a myriad of accessories. They also have a hair salon and hospital for your American girl dolls as well as a cafe where you can eat with your American girl doll.

Marianne W.

Yelp
American Girl Cafe I'm not sure what happened to the American Girl Store that I frequently visited. I guess they're copying the Plaza Hotel that has the Eloise Shop with the Party Room. This reincarnation of American Girl offers a menu and party arrangements on premises. I have friends with children and attend the birthday celebrations. I can see first hand why it's popular. I'm sure if my daughter was of the correct age I'd be making arrangements in a heartbeat. It's great you can make a reservation and dine. I'm not sure how they're handling the Covid restrictions. According to the Yelp Q&A they sound like they have it under control. This place certainly has a lot to offer. I love the dolls. Not as much as my childhood brands, but they will suffice for this generation! I'm recommending.

Yelp
The cafe was amazing. Great service and food. Anthony was our waiter. He's the best. We enjoyed getting my great nieces dolls but the people who work there don't want to be bothered servicing people to help with how the picking the doll process works. One lady was nice but others didn't want to help. In the cafe is where I felt it was the best customer experience. Recommend the cafe!!

Yelp
We had a great experience at both the store and cafe. Our server was extremely attentive and gave various options for people in our party with allergies/intolerance. They let you borrow a doll for the kids to eat with and a little plate and cup for the doll that you can take home as a souvenir. The preset menu is great and includes drink, cinnamon bun starter, charcuterie plate, choice of entree and dessert.

Yelp
We had the best experience at the AG cafe today with Ramon! He took such great care of us. We had three girls in our party, two of them with allergies. He took great care to make sure that our meals were safe and allergen free. We were very well taken care of and most importantly, our girls had so much fun. Such a great activity to do for the holidays if you have little ones into dolls.

Yelp
We decided to take our daughter here for her 8th birthday. I had made reservations on the same week for the one-hour personal shopping experience with a personal shopper, which I highly recommend and for the doll salon to get her doll's ears pierced, hair styled and nails painted. This place is everything you could imagine for your daughter (s) & AG doll (s). There's a doll salon, hospital, arcade & cafe (still closed), wide collection of dolls to choose from, there's also doll clothes, accessories, furniture, books, gift sets and more. No doubt they'll have fun here and you most likely won't be able to leave empty handed. Our personal shopper, Maria, was wonderful. She was helpful & attentive and my daughter enjoyed her experience very much. This service is free and you just have to make a reservation. The AG salon experience was also very nice & fun watching her doll get pampered. You get to pick out which hairstyle and nail color you want your doll to have. Her stylist was full of enthusiasm as if the doll was a real person and I love that! My daughter had an awesome time here with her new doll and I will definitely return whenever the AG Cafe opens back up again so they can have their little tea party and lunch together.

Yelp
We had a lovely first visit there! The Cafe is adorable with seats for the dolls. They even bring a saucer and teacup so the dolls can also eat :) The portion sizes were good. And our waitress was great! I thought it would be "more" but honestly I don't know what I was fully expecting. I would recommend it though. Our girls loved it. The stylists at the Doll salon were great with the girls. The hair repair and styles are terrific. Our girls loved watching their dolls get pampered. They even told our girls how to keep the hair healthy and maintain it on their own. Especially the curls on Courtney!! The store is huge with sections for each line and story. It's a bit overwhelming but, if your daughter is a fan of American Girl, she will be in Heaven. There also also sections for the little ones to play with Bitty Baby or Wellie Wishers. It's all very cute.

Yelp
Atmosphere 9/10; Food 6/10; Customer Service 9/10 This is more for the cafe. AGC's "First course" is literally just a giant three tiered plate of one snack per guest (one pretzel, one pita triangle, spinach artichoke dip (which needed to be warmed), and oddly irrelevant yet slightly delicious strawberry yogurt. I got the AG burger based on the my interest of the bacon-tomato jam that it has on it. The burger looked better than it rightfully was as it was a decent portioned burger, but the pretzel bun was too hard. The fries redeemed the dish. The dessert was probably the best - an aesthetic chocolate pudding with Oreo crumbles in a flower pot... Overall, cute and nostalgic vibes, food was subpar, and the experience seems good at a rate of once per lifespan.

Yelp
My friend's family and I went to this location for my niece's birthday doll that she was so excited to get. We were told to be there at 5 pm sharp and we were there a few minutes before that. Not only were we not taken until about 5:20, but we only got taken because someone spoke up. We had an appointment to be somewhere else which should have been no problem based on the 30 minutes we were told it was going to take. We were given an attitude by all of the employees after that. We were all feeling unsafe and as if we we're being treated the same as other customers. All of the other girls in the store had tiaras and the whole birthday package. Just to preface, all of the other customers in the store were Caucasian and we're West Indian. So at this point it feels personal, even though we have spent a lot of money already, pre-purchasing the birthday package and buying multiple items in the store. I would just like to say I'll never be returning to this store and (most) of the workers should be ashamed of themselves for acting this way. We're talking about treating kids differently, just to put it in perspective. You guys need to do better.

Yelp
We brought our grandchildren there and bought them dolls and an outfit! They had a wonderful time looking at everything and picking out their dolls! It was nice that they also had small couches and chairs for grandparents to sit on while they shopped for their treasures!!

Yelp
Surprised our 6 yr old this week with a trip to the store, salon, & cafe. Her little mind was blown spending what seemed like hours looking at every corner of the store thoroughly to make sure we did not miss anything. After a few purchases we made our way to the salon for girl & doll manicures. Olivia, our manicurist was amazing! She kept our daughter engaged and just overall did a fantastic job! On to our dining experience and let me just say what an excellent one it was. The staff was very inviting and welcoming. We are vegetarian and they took the time to explain the menu and offer suggestions. Our waiters, Ramon & Christian, went above and beyond to make our daughter's first experience one she will truly never forget! We were very impressed with the selections and presentation of the entire meal. We will absolutely be back!

Yelp
Very cute concept for young girls. My daughter got her dolls hair done for $20. They sell other things like a manicure or ear piercing. The store is great the prices for dolls clothes are comparable to buying clothes for an adult. Most outfits are on the $35 price range! For a doll I think I bought 4 items for $145.00.

Yelp
This was such a wonderful experience! All of the staff out on the floor were so helpful and friendly. The bistro, birthday experience was exceptional! All of the adults in our party were shocked at how amazing all of the food was! I had the Cobb salad and it was all fresh with delicious chicken. My daughter ordered the gf pasta, and it was cooked perfectly! This included cinnamon rolls, fruit, cheese, pigs in a blanket, muffins and pestered bites plus a mini cake! This also included bday crowns for girls and dolls and goody bags of choice($40 per child, $27 per adult)! It was superb value, especially considering it's in New York City!! Everyone should go!!

Yelp
I originally called to place a curbside order. After a few questions over the phone I was informed that there was no line and the store was not crowded. I enjoyed the way they decorated for the holidays, although it is a little hard to get into the spirit of things. I went to the store to purchase a doll for my granddaughter bday and I will say you never walk out the store for what your intended purchase was. You will spend more!!! Friendly helpful customer service. There is a lot of hustle and bustle $$$$

Yelp
My daughter and I both had an amazing time at the store - so much cute stuff to see. I had low expectations for the cafe and was pleasantly surprised - the food was tasty with good portion sizes. The flower pot mousse at the end was adorable! And the experience of the cafe was really special...cups for the dolls, cute atmosphere, great service. The hair salon also saved my daughter's doll's hair.

Yelp
We passed by this place on the way to top of the rock. My 6 yo granddaughter was immediately awe struck and we promised to return. Know this going in. These dolls are not inexpensive. They have 3 stories of dolls dolls and more dolls. After making a pit stop on the lower level, I saw the pictured doll hanger in each stall. Seriously? It made me lol! Picking up my jaw, we made our way to each floor so my girl could check out each doll and accessories. They even have a salon and doll hospital. We decided to order a doll online for my grand daughter as we didn't want to transport the doll through the city. The store is super clean. Cleanest bathroom I've seen in the city! Truly a place where girls (and I imagine some boys too) dreams come true.

Yelp
We chose experiences over parties this year and my daughter chose American Girl. It was an amazing day! To start, use spot hero to find parking, there's a garage a block away for $30, another one $50 so booking ahead if driving helps. Second, we knew we wanted the cafe, the doll/girl hair and manicure so I needed 3 appointments. Booking online and finding times to line up was a little difficult as things sold out fast and book 90 days in advance. But be prepared they hold tight to that time, we came early and couldn't sit to eat so we shopped but there was an hour wait in between our hair and nails so I'd just suggest a tighter set up with scheduling, it was 30 mins to get her hair done. The dining was great. Service was excellent, we upgraded to the birthday package and she got a cake and crown and a gift. She loved it. All the food was yummy, limited but it came out SO fast. The salon was great. They were very nice and did a great job. It is very expensive when all said and done but worth it, for the experience.

Yelp
I made an appointment for my daughter and her doll to get their hair done in the salon. My appointment was at 1pm and we arrived at 1.10pm. I checked the time. We apologised for being 10 minutes late. We were greeted by Mahalia our hair styst who said we allow a ten minute grace period but now you're too late so we cannot accommodate your appointment. I said, 'Okay, but it's 1.10pm now so we are within our ten minute grace period, and we have travelled a long way to be here (from Australia) for my daughter's birthday. She'd be so disappointed isn't there anything you can do given we are here by 1.10pm?' Mahalia made us feel terrible and kept saying no. Literally arguing about one minute? What kid of experience is that in front of my poor child. She called over her manager who again spent a long time arguing with us about our appointment. And, eventually after an extremely stressful back and forth the manager said he can accommodate some hairstyles that were not as complex and time consuming. I have no idea why I had to have such a terrible experience. We could have avoided this WHOLE thing if they just said 'you arrived at 1.10 just in time for the grace period' or 'you are ten minutes late please can you pick a hairstyle that takes a little less time because you were late'. They spent more time arguing with me than solving the problem. I spent SO much money and am a loyal customer. That trip we booked the cafe, the salon and bought multiple dolls and outfits. To treat a customer spending hundreds of dollars so apathetically was simply appalling. Mahalia proceeded to do my daughters hair and it seemed like she just wanted to get out of doing it and was using our 1.10pm arrival time as an excuse even though it was within the ten minute grace period. If efficiency was the goal, this was the most inefficient way to handle the situation. Not to mention a terrible customer experience. I was about to leave and not visit the cafe or do the additional shopping but our doll's hairstylist named Danny was so sweet and kind to us that I felt better. If it wasn't for Danny I think I would have felt overwhelmingly disappointed. Please reward Danny as he was phenomenal. Whatever you are paying him, double it to retain him. He's wonderful. Please give my feedback directly to the assistant manager on duty and to Mahalia. I could not have been more disappointed in their engagement with me and my six year old daughter.

Yelp
This store is one of the top notch AG Store and Cafe we have been to. The salon was amazing. I highly suggest making an appointment before going. Super easy on their website: AmericanGirl.com I'd highly suggest the girl and doll hair do. This is a flagship store so there is more of an experience setting along with shopping. The doll check-up is so fun too, and it's free This cafe was top notch! They have a fun experience already planned out with a kid friendly four-course "meal". The price is a flat rate of $25 and this includes a soft drink, milk, lemonade, tea, or juice. This made my daughters da!. I will be contacting corporate because the cafe at the store near our home does not do this and there is an inconsistency. Our server was absolutely stellar, she made my daughter feels beyond special with her doll.

Yelp
My daughter mentioned wanting to get an American Girl doll, so I figured I'd give the 2x Student of the Week recipient a nice treat. We took the train, which I imagine is less stressful than finding parking in the area. It's an easy commute on the F train. The store is expansive with 2 levels, jam-packed with dolls and doll accessories. My daughter had a hard time finding a doll because they were all so cool! Once we did find the perfect doll and toy set, we went to check out, and that's where the mark was missed. There are about 4 lines leading to about 6 registers. As you can imagine, it wasn't clear which lines lead to which register, causing people to cut in front of customers that were waiting before them. I feel that maybe deploying a line leader or clear floor markers would take care of this problem. There were many frustrated customers because of this (myself included), and it seemed the staff wasn't invested in remedying the problem even after multiple complaints. We didn't go to the cafe since our bags were so huge, but I do plan to take my girly back to pick up more accessories, so we may check out the cafe before we shop. Hopefully the line situation and responsiveness have changed.

Yelp
Store is lovely however keep away from the restaurant.. Seriously over priced for below par and I mean very below par food.

Yelp
Come here to find a gift; last minute. This place is more spacious than the previous location on 5th Avenue. The previous location was 2-3 floors. This one is 1 whole block and I only stayed on the street floor so can't tell you about the other floor. It's very spacious and overwhelming to me also a bit pricey but this is AG so it's expected. Since I didn't know which doll my friend's child had, I didn't know what to get. A salesperson asked me if I needed help and after listening to my needs, she recommended Blair Wilson's clothing. After checking with my friend, the item turned out to be a perfect suggestion. I was in and out within 5 minutes since there was only 1 person on line to check out. The cashiers are efficient. Thank goodness for the salesperson's help otherwise I would still be scrambling for a gift or still be at the store deciding on a gift.

Yelp
A very popular and trendy doll store for little girls and big girls that are young at heart. I had been hearing a lot about this place from officemates who has little girls and today witnessed on my own eyes why they'd been into this place. The doll store is modern, classy and overwhelming in my view- how much more to these little girls view. The dolls and it's matching clothes and accessories are expensive. My daughter grew up being a toys are us kid. Am I glad AG was not existing yet during her time? For affordability, I would say yes but for trendy fashion, we missed a lot. I loved the idea of recognizing a particular doll for the year- it gives inspiration and good insights for these aspiring little girls. The restaurant/ cafe on the lower ground is imaginably a sweet spot after the browsing time on this 3 floor building just about dolls. Never get the chance though to look on the menu but the concept sounds good to me. Now let me ask you this- isn't a salon for dolls too fancy? Anyways, it is a bright idea. Customers bought it.

Yelp
5 stars for service, 3 stars for the food. But honestly dining at the cafe is really more about the experience than the quality food. With that being said, they did offer a nice variety and the food was pretty good. The prix fixe menu offered a starting course of mini cinnamon rolls followed by veggies and pretzel bites. Each person got to choose their own entree and then a cute dessert was served. My picky eater was able to find something she liked and absolutely loved sharing it all with her doll. If you're looking for a special experience, this is it.

Yelp
Celebrated my niece 6th birthday in one of their private rooms and it was an amazing day for her! The queenly chair was a nice touch for a birthday celebrant and staff was nice and they were detailed to what was requested. Too bad their salon was fully booked we'll definitely come back with their dolls. Amazing experience for kids that they will remember lifetime.

Yelp
I went the American Girl Store on my last day in New York not because I had a need to buy anything for a child but because I thought it would be a nice walk down memory lane as I have grown up with their historic dolls throughout my life. As a late 80s - 90s raised girl growing up I remember the joy of getting my American Girl catalog in the mail and being able to see all the various historical garments and accessories( and sometimes even furniture) that the dolls came with. Everything was so high-quality and looking back I understand why they were so expensive. I own three American Girl dolls from that time. I figured when going to the American Girl store in Rockefeller Center that I would of course see a large amount of their modern dolls. What I was not expecting was seeing only their modern dolls on sale or display. The only reference they had to the original American Girls was a display at the back entrance of the store and it didn't even appear that they were for sale at that location. The store itself is poorly laid out and there is not enough help. You couldn't find anything because it didn't seem like there was any real rhyme or reason to the layout of the store. If there is they would be good to add a map as I know I and several other customers were completely lost. They just seem to jam as many of their product in as possible. I was also shocked to see how cheap the quality of the clothing and accessories was. Even the dolls seemed very mediocre at best. I will give them that they are trying to be more inclusion all including different nationalities, as well as disabilities etc. If you have a little girl right now, going to the store and maybe eating at their doll café with their doll could be a very fun experience but I feel like people like myself who are looking to go into the store to relive your childhood and (potentially get some thing that reminded you of the past) then you will be disappointed.
