Love this market. Love it. This place got seriously amazing back in January 2022 when new owners took over and since then, I've been coming a few times a week if not a few times per DAY.
Picture the hard-to-find type products you've grown to love from farmers markets and artisanal grocery venues, all stacked nicely in a little neighborhood brick and mortar. The offerings are constantly changing, with intriguing new adds popping up all the time. It's a small shop, and they maximize the space by keeping it fresh with new products while also being slick enough to keep a home for their high-demand staples. I've found some serious gems here. Yuzu miso paste, small-batch flour tortillas from Kansas made with avocado oil, these little chocolate-peanut butter candies by Tom Bumble that are like Butterfingers but better and with no dairy. My list goes on but ain't nobody got time to read "Justin's top 100 Altadena Bev Finds."
Fresh bread daily, snacks, beautiful local flowers, ice cream and sorbets, condiments galore, pizzas, salad dressings, pastas, cooking must-haves, candy, and so much more. And of COURSE, we can't forget about the booze! Wine, and beer, and spirits, oh my. And mixers to cover your mixology from A to Z. Again, this isn't a massive store, so they are surgical with what they offer on their coveted shelf space. You can tell every selection throughout the store has a lot of thought behind it.
They bring in their alcohol and food vendors regularly for free tastings which is a bonus. I've sampled (and usually then purchased) so many products I don't think I would have otherwise ever picked up. Plus, there are frequent food pop-ups ranging from pizza, burgers, vegan Israeli food, perogies, bakeries, and beyond. My tip is to go follow them on IG so you can catch the weekend lineup.
Anyway, you get it. A semi-bougie market with small-neighborhood charm. The staff are topnotch and always down to help you find a good wine or recommend anything else for your kitchen. I've yet to meet an employee who wasn't genuinely friendly and knowledgeable of what they have in the store. Great place to grab small gifts, too.
It's my favorite market, check it out. According to my bank app, we've been here over 125 times since it opened up in 2022. That's.... a lot. Maybe too much, I don't know. But totally worth it. Cheers.
