"Chef Chris Jaeckle teamed up with restaurateur Chris Cannon (Michael White’s former business partner) to open this well-dressed restaurant in the village. The first floor—occupied solely by the bar—is generally packed, thanks in no small part to the fact they are currently not taking reservations for two. The menu is Venetian with touches of Japan—evidenced by the crudos (a la Marea). Everyone these days has their version of the uni bucatini, but Jaeckle has one of the best we’ve tried."

Though this was a little out of my comfortable price range, it was well worth it. I had some pan fried chicken breast in a buttery sauce over some braised kale. The table had various appetizers, I had the cheese on polenta chips which were a nice palate cleansing bite, and the meatballs which I could have made a meal of. They were moist and delicious and the salad garnish was amazing and complimented it well. This would be a good place for a date, and if they ever came out with a cookbook, I would definitely give it a try!

The bartender immediately understood my request and served me exactly the wine I wanted. The crab pasta was delicious, it tasted of crab and was sprinkled with some tasty, slightly spicy crunch (relatively small portion). The olive oil cake dessert was moist and delicately balanced. This is not a cheap place but worth the price.

There's a bar downstairs, but all the seating is upstairs. The service is great and the menu is small, which makes decided a little easier except that the food is delicious. The arancini was awesome. The bucatini, I thoroughly enjoyed and the dorade was also good. My bottle of prosecco seemed neverending (only because the service was so good). The olive oil cake was a perfect end. The meal wasn't overwhelming, but I was full in a good way, not stuffed. The portions are small so you shouldn't be taking anything home. It's a great place with nice "clean" food that doesn't confuse you're taste buds.

Great for: Dates, taking out of towners, parents, small group of friends. Brand spanking new, All'Onda is a beautifully decorated modern Italian restaurant with some Japanese fusion. With a very helpful and friendly staff, a unique and delicious menu (Bucatini with smoked uni & spicy breadcrumbs, thumbs way up!) and its close proximity to Union Square and Washington Square Park, All'Onda is sure to become a staple restaurant for locals and tourists alike. The restaurant boasts two floors - a communal table and bar on the bottom that does not require reservations, and a dining room upstairs. With dark woods, black metals, copper and tiles, the mix of materials and dark colors create an inviting and modern atmosphere. It feels trendy, but not in a trying to hard way. The Bucatini I ordered were delicious, as were the side of brussel sprouts. I'd also recommend the Squid Ink Risotto, I've never tasted one so packed with flavor before! It was incredible. Another item I enjoyed was the Arancini appetizer - it was a squid ink risotto ball topped with uni. I can't wait to go back. Also of note: it looked like the back of the dining area could be closed off for private events which was a nice feature.

Came here for RW Winter 2016... Come with the idea to share everything.. Definitely the best strategy. The decor/service was really nice, relaxed, comfy booths/couches and nice waiters who wear hipster leather aprons... Apps-my favorite being the fluke, really fresh, not swimming in any dressing. The stracciatella cheese tastes just like burrata, and the meatballs were really light! Not all dense and thick, bleh. Dinner- The short ribs. Just do it. HUGE potion, enough for three.. It's cooked medium/medium rare... Really good.. There are some big chunks of fat though that get tough. The bucatini was also very good, came in a very creamy sauce and the pasta is cooked very much on the al dente side. Dessert- the olive oil cake was good! But the ricotta ice cream on the side was much more interesting. The chocolate and vanilla gelato was really creamy and rich and the lemon gelato tasted just like frozen lemonade. Would definitely come back for drinks, they have a small bar down below that looks ~cool~ and definitely a nice option for the area.

We have been here a number of times and last night, was one of those rare examples of a restaurant getting even better than it was before. We always liked the Garganelli with the Peekytoe crab but they seem to have tweaked the recipe with a bit more lemony citrus flavor which brightens the dishes entire profile. We also suspect there might be more calamari and prawns used to enrich the sauce while not really being visible and this too enhanced an otherwise flavorful dish. Another nod goes to the Clams Casino, something that was on every Italian menu in the 60's, makes a long overdue return to the otherwise contemporary menu. We liked All'onda before but last night added another star to our review.

Food: Before we go onto the food, there are some issues I have with the experience. My gf and I decided to check out this restaurant on a wed night. Upon speaking to the hostess (which was very sweet) she told us that it would be around an hr wait, so we decided to wait, after about an hr we checked in the hostess again and she had a startled look on her face (probably because she gave our table away) but she stated that it will be a little longer since there was an "old couple" that had the table and we would need to wait a little longer. After 25 more mins of waiting, she comped our drinks which was very nice of her, and we were shown to our table. The table looked like a makeshift table in the middle of the restaurant with staff buzzing around us the whole night and were knocking into my chair multiple times throughout the evening. All this would have been fine but the food was just not worth it. Now onto the food. We ordered: 1. The meatballs Really good meat balls, but it came out kind of cold. 2. Clams casino Very good, very flavorful and the crusty bread crumbs made it really delicious. The only thing I may possibly reorder. 3. Pasta with Uni This is the reason why we decided to come here. I gf loves uni pasta and we have sampled many different ones throughout the city. But this one was not very good. For starters it was MP and it was $35 for about a cup of pasta and bits of uni, not even full pieces. The sauce was very thick and like another yelper noted the consistency of glue. It was not worth the price. 4. Rigatoni with duck ragu It was ok. The pasta was a little over cooked and the sauce was too sweet for my taste. But the duck was cooked well. Brew: Great selection of beers, especially one of my favorites Moretti. Overall I would not return, the food was ok and there are many other Italian restaurants in the city to try.

Yes! This unassuming below-street-level-Venetian restaurant in Flatiron is a gem. Best dishes? Bucatini and the All'onda burger. We ordered the Bucatini, ramen and All'onda burger. Bucatini was delicious. Generous amounts of uni and cream and generous helping of lemon juice to cut into the fattiness of this dish. I wish the uni was more briny but it was still a great dish. And that burger! Surprisingly good considering Venetian cuisine is a pescatarian's dream. Juicy, medium rare burger topped with a thin layer of cheese and caramelized onions. Great burger. The ramen was ok. For the next visit, I want to try their Brussels sprouts, burrata and skate.
