"Burnt out by the pandemic, the owners of Alice’s Tea Cup say they may be looking to sell their decades-old restaurants. The small chain of tea shops, which started on the Upper West Side, have faced staffing shortages, pandemic regulations, poor weather, and a difficult time taking afternoon tea outdoors during the pandemic, Haley and Lauren Fox tell the New York Times." - Luke Fortney

"Alice’s Tea Cup has multiple locations, but the colorful West 73rd Street original is a favorite among long time fans. This is the place to book when visitors with children are in town, with whimsical painted walls, mismatched teaware, and special afternoon tea for kids. For adults, Alice’s offers multiple sizes of tea service depending on hunger levels. Pick from various flavors of scone — get the pumpkin if it’s available — and tea sandwiches, including lapsang-smoked chicken and tea-egg salad, to design a custom afternoon tea set. Warm scones can also be taken to go from the takeout counter." - Kathy YL Chan, Alexandra Ilyashov

A place I've seen often enough, but only recently visited on a Tuesday morning. Nice decor theme, and the food was enjoyable. The only issue I had was the lack of English Breakfast Tea, and the following two choices I made were also out of stock. Other than that, the place is certainly worth a visit. Expect to spend almost $100 for a three-tiered setting with two pots of tea. Well worth the price.

Whimsical and fun - varied lunch menu to include breakfast and lunch items with a nice selection of both + awesome dessert and teas to choose from as well. We had a delicious pot of peppermint tea infused with rose petals that didn't need any sweetener as it was delicious on its own. I had the tea-infused egg salad sandwich which came with a side salad and my daughter had amazing cornmeal pancakes. Decorated creatively with many drawings and photos of Alice in Wonderland. Clean bathroom, plenty of tables and a nice party room in the back. Can't wait to return - for dessert next time! Located on the Upper West Side.

Stopped in here on Saturday morning after a walk through Central Park. Arrived between 1030-1100 and was seated without a wait, but a line formed very quickly after that. Nice breakfast and brunch menu with a number of options. They had no issue with special requests for a lactose allergy, and the food came out correct as ordered. They did an excellent job with the hollandaise sauce on the Scones Benedict, and the scone itself, while quite biscuit-like, was completely delicious. Lots of tea options and my wife enjoyed the teapot and cups as well as the whimsical Alice in Wonderland decor. This is not a quick in-and-out in a hurry kind of spot, so be prepared to drink tea and have a nice leisurely meal. There can be a line for the sole bathroom in the restaurant and the door is locked, so as a bonus for those intrepid enough to have read all this, the code is 1099. Overall, a very enjoyable and unique experience.

I love Alice’s Tea Cup. Typically, I’m on the East side and I’ll go there but today I wanted to get scones to go and I was on the West side. This location seems nice. I was in a hurry and couldn’t stay for tea today but the scones, specifically, the pumpkin scones with the clotted cream and jam are my favourite. I highly recommend it as well as sitting down for a nice cup if tea when you’re in the neighbourhood. They have a nice variety of teas.

If you’re fortunate to have young girls or granddaughters who would love to experience an Alice’s in Wonderland Tea Party, you have to visit Alice’s Tea Cup just off Columbus Avenue on Weast 73rd Street. I was there to buy their fabulous buttermilk scones that are served with a delicious jam and whipped cream! Kirin and Esai were helpful in recommending other delicious cookies to take home. When I walked into the store on a cold wintry morning, Kirin explained that while they weren’t actually opened ( they open at 11am) , I was more than welcome to wait inside and within five minutes I was surrounded by lots of little girls with their mothers and grandmothers who had reserved tables for their very special tea parties! My advice is if you want a lovely treat for your children or loved ones, make a reservation in advance! And if you’re looking for absolutely delicious desserts for your grownup friends, they’ll be returning to but more for their upcoming dinner parties!

Cute & vibrant tea house serving a fun high tea & brunchy food. Great selection of teas & absolutely delicious Scones. Space is a bit cramped & menu is overpriced. Prepare to spend atleast a couple of hours feasting over that carby bread tower & deep conversations.

This is my second time at this wonderful tea house & it has been absolutely magical every time! Today, I returned with a good friend of mine and we absolutely enjoyed the Green Chai & scones. I also loved the Sencha with rose petals 🍵 Loved 💗 it so much that I ended up buying half a pound to take home and share it with my family and friends!

Google
This little cafe is adorable! Alice in Wonderland themed! My friend and I had the "Mad hatter" Tea for Two. This includes two types of tea, two types of sandwiches, 3 types of scones and a dessert that also came with mini macarons and cookies. The price was very reasonable for two people. You can also order take out!

Yelp
I was looking for a coffee spot to take a rest after a long walk and accidentally stumbled upon this charming tea house. As you take a few steps below ground level you enter a uniquely decorated, very cozy place that impresses. Tons of tea varieties hints to something different. The amount of tea varieties will make your head spin. The combinations and infusion of flavors make it difficult, but amazing, to make one's choice. Of course, you can get official tea snacks as well, although the presentation lacks a bit. Typical portions are much smaller, but maybe it's specific to what we ordered. The service was wonderful. Friendly, helpful, not rushed. Perhaps by design, but I found the tables too small for my legs, having to battle moving my feet and getting a comfort level for a longer stay. But, overall worth coming back for sure.

Yelp
The cutest little store front opens up to a pretty decent sized restaurant. Come before 3PM on the weekend if you want to catch brunch. Honestly food was a solid 7/10. Highlight was the freshness of the smoked salmon. Oat chocolate Scone was nice and warm. Tea selection is pretty straightforward - and there are wonderful refreshing choices as well. The service was overall friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Came here for the first time for Mothers day with my daughters. The staff made it very special by presenting me with a rose and a special note. My kids loved the scones, sandwiches and the cupcakes were amazing! Much better than one finds at Magnolia and the like! This place is really cute and offers a fun experience for kids and adults alike.

Anne Marie J.

Yelp
My go-to for scones and tea in NYC. So perfect for quiet conversations. Don't sleep on anything with the Lapsang Souching eggs either. The staff is friendly and accommodating too. Love!

Iris F.

Yelp
Solid spot for afternoon tea on the UWS. My group of 4 walked in on a Saturday around noon and were seated pretty quickly although the store looked full. We all got the option of tea + 2 scones. There are a billion choices for teas so we were kind of overwhelmed but the Alice's faerie potion I got was fine although not that aromatic. I liked their scones though - I got pumpkin and ham/cheese, which were huge and delicious! As for ambience, IMO the lack of natural lighting and dim lights / dark furniture inside kind of took away from the afternoon tea experience and wished that they allowed outdoor seating when we went (they said no when we got there, but as we were leaving we saw people seated in the outdoor area so idk why)

Heather W.

Yelp
A bit friendlier with the counter service, tried a few more times back. Good scones. Chocolate one not too sweet.

Kelly C.

Yelp
We met with some cousins here on Saturday to celebrate our niece's 6th birthday. They knowingly sat us at the furthest table in the back room and promptly ignored us in the best way possible, letting us enjoy our time together without feeling rushed. I did not grab the names of our servers, but they were kind and patient and a joy to behold. The tea was delicious and everyone who had a scone loved it. The decorations are perfect with great Alice-y murals on the walls and in the bathroom. To top it all off, the host station has fairy dust and will dust you (and your doll) with fairy dust to give your day some extra pizazz.

Tiki C.

Yelp
I love this quaint spot. My daughter and were in town for her bestie's birthday party and we came here for brunch one morning. They have a long list of great teas to choose from and there is something for everyone to eat on the menu. The scones were divine! My daughter and her friend got the crepes and they said it was the best they had! The decor is adorable too! I love that the restaurant is a step down, it adds to the Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole theme. I can't wait to return!

Melissa M.

Yelp
The cutest little tea shop in NYC. I wish I had a little kid- it would be way more fun. (But fun as a grownup too). The decor is magical. Literally feel like your Alice having tea with friends. The sandwich's and menu are simple and fun. Peanut butter and apple!! Scones, and lots of tea choices. Cold or hot.

Paige A.

Yelp
Amazing!!! Loved the scones and delicious tea. There are so many different types of tea that all sounded amazing, we went with Lavendar Earl Grey & Alice's Tea and really enjoyed! I was a bit hesitant to do the unlimited tea for 2 deal but we had plenty to eat and really glad we got unlimited. The interior is chill and cute, I wish they would lean into more of the Alice & wonderland theme though!

Sam S.

Yelp
I have been to a handful of tea rooms, but this one stuck out to me because of its unique Alice in Wonderland theme and plethora of tea selections. It was my significant other's birthday and we got to start her day off with some vibrant, flavorful teas, alongside delicious scones and tea sandwiches. When you walk in, you are welcomed by kind staff and a diverse collection of house tea blends. Would definitely recommend this place. Perfect for family breakfast, lunch, as well as birthdays.

Emma K.

Yelp
Alice's is a lovely afternoon tea spot. The decor is so cute. Massive tea selection, reasonable prices, and yummy sandwiches and scones. They definitely let you take your time - my friends and I often savor our meals together to catch up so I really appreciate not being hurried out the door. Last time I was here there was a table with about five small children so it got a bit noisy but to be fair this is probably one of the more kid friendly tea locations in the city. Haven't tried their UES location yet, but excited to come back!

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Very cute and quaint coffee spot I came across while exploring Brooklyn. The barista was super nice and helpful. The honey latte was so delicious. Next time I am in New York I will definitely be back!

Marijke K.

Yelp
Brought my mom to tea as her bday treat and had a great time. The scones were fantastic (and I say this as a person who does not like scones!). Staff was very kind and I appreciated that they didn't rush us out. The tea for 2 was PLENTY - we even had leftovers to bring home. Would recommend this cozy spot.

Marta S.

Yelp
We used to frequent Alice's before the pandemic and loved it, but it's lost a lot of the charm it used to have. Rather than the pretty decor that made it perfect for a girls' tea or little girl's party, it's taken on more of a gender-neutral vibe, which may be intentional since you're greeted by large Progress Pride flags when walking into the restaurant and a loud "All Genders!" sign on the restroom door. We were there for a party with brunch and there was no tablecloth, nor any hint of decor on the table for this special occasion - small flower vases on the table seemed a natural choice, but there were none. The presentation of food was unappealing. The price however has gone way up, and it's just not worth it anymore.

Nancy A.

Yelp
Very cute and cozy to come with friends or family to enjoy a 3 tier full of parties and sandwiches! Good place for breakfast or brunch and TEA!!!! I came here with a friend and we tried lox sandwiches with an assortment of biscuits! A great variety of teas to choose from!!! There are many fruity teas!!

Lara K.

Yelp
Best place for tea! I love the tea, the atmosphere is nice and cozy, and the service is good too. I highly recommend it if you're a tea fan!

Melissa G.

Yelp
Good food and nice atmosphere. We had a leisurely afternoon tea with friends and stayed as long as as we liked .

Yelp
Finally got to try this spot out. I love a themed restaurant, and high tea is something I like enjoying here and there. The place was pretty busy for a Tuesday afternoon. We just finished strolling Central Park and came here to enjoy the mad hatter option. It comes with a lot of food. I especially loved their vegan lemon scone (I am not vegan, I picked it only for the flavor). Their sandwiches were filling and good too!! We had to take the cake and cookies home because we were stuffed but enjoyed those later too. Service was slow but I didn't mind it because I wanted to enjoy my food and tea slowly anyways. I chose the flotus which is their signature blend option, it was perfect!

Ericka S.

Yelp
I am not a pumpkin spice everything connoisseur or fanatic, but LOVE the pumpkin scone from Alice's Teacup on the Upper West Side, New York City. There is a really good balance between the pumpkin flavor and the subtle spice profile. This is an evergreen dessert choice, and not just autumnal. I remember the service as being exceptional, and the decor was both inviting and evoked the spirit of Alice in Wonderland. It's fun to walk there from Broadway. Through the looking glass we go. Check it out.

Jon H.

Yelp
Interesting food choices. We like the options but you really have to look for yourself to see if you like the sandwiches they offer. Service always extremely pleasant. Cute atmosphere.

Natalie L.

Yelp
I've had quite a few afternoon teas down the eastern coastline of the US and I'd have to say this is my favorite one. My sister and I ordered the mad hatter which was $72. It comes with 2 sandwiches, 3 of the scones from the daily menu, chocolate mousse fruits and cookies as well as clotted cream and jam. This also comes with two choices of tea. I was overwhelmed by the selection of teas and didn't realize there were so many! You will DEFINITELY find a flavor for you. I ended up getting the St Marks which is a dark and slightly fruity tea with a hint of vanilla. It was amazing! The scone flavors we chose were mango(my favorite) , chocolate chip coconut, and pumpkin spice. In addition, I ordered the mango mimosa on the side which turned out to be $11. Average price for a drink. I was feeling a little down and the staff's friendliness and extreme helpfulness cheered me up. The space was decorated in a fun and witty fashion that only NYC could give which I also loved. I'm definitely coming back here again!

Yelp
Alice's Tea Cup came as a truly pleasant surprise for us. We wanted to find a tea room nearby and stumbled across Alice's Tea Cup. Upon walking in we loved the ambiance, a nicely lit up boutique sized room with an "Alice in wonderland" theme throughout. It was cozy and very comfortable. The service was fantastic, we had a great host at the front, and the server was nice and attentive to our needs all evening! The menu is pretty epic, and you'll find yourself looking at a bunch of "Alice in Wonderland" inspired dishes that all look like a good time. We ordered the mad hatter tower, which far exceeded our expectations! It's a pretty big tower with large scones (3 different ones, buttermilk and apple/cinnamon were amazing), sandwiches (2 different ones, cucumber & hummus), cookies, macaroons and a mousse cake. Everything tasted fantastic and it was such a big platter that we took home the remaining items. For teas we had the Alice's Tea and Stardust. They were both outstanding and it seemed like this place couldn't miss! I highly recommend this place for a nice tea pitstop. I'm sure there's many other Items on the menu that are great, but the mad hatter with the teas mentioned above are a sure hit. We look forward to coming back in the near future!

Laurie H L.

Yelp
I have been to both locations. The choices of teas are exceptional. It was a cozy and warm feel, a lovely experience for individual or group occasions.

Tamika P.

Yelp
I love locally owned-stores and restaurants. However, maybe this place has grown too much, or they are focused elsewhere. First, they were out of scones. Nearly everything on their menu revolves around scones. Then they were out of the soup. Then they were out of... you get the point. The manager needed to either plan better or close. How do you have a menu with essential items for a tea service all out? This puts your guests in a terrible spot and makes for a terrible, terrible day for your staff. Then there is the ridiculous price tag for a pitcher of mimosas or Bellinis. Are you ready? $ 158! On the same menu, a bottle of Prosecco is ~$55. This makes no sense at all. I would not have stayed, but we had an out-of-town guest, who really wanted to go here.

Glen B.

Yelp
Do your research before dining here! The menu is theatrical and entertaining and our server was of no help. They will hand you the menu and walk away. I didn't fully grasp the ordering process and there was no one to ask. Our server who did not bother introducing themselves avoided eye contact and barely checked up on us once the food arrived. The whole ambiance and tea service is cute and charming for our little girl.... ....but once the check came.... I was blown away! The food was severely overpriced! $72 per person for the Jabberwocky - 2 adults, a 6yr old and a toddler. Do the math! According to our server, the charge is for "anyone who touch the tray." Even a 3 yr old who had one buttermilk scone! The scones are actually pretty good and a good size but the sandwiches were pretty dry. When I brought my confusion with our server, they said, "I didn't make up these rules" and hurriedly walked away. We paid and even gave an 18% gratuity but only out of respect for the industry. I didn't make a big fuss at the place because I didn't want to ruin the experience for the group. Bottom Line: Do your research! I'm still blown away by the whole experience! I would not go back.

Kelly T.

Yelp
The tea options are out of this world!!! They must've had over 100 options for tea so anyone can find something that fits them. There are limited food options so if you're not a fan or traditional English tea sandwiches, this may not be the place for you. The scone we VERY good! Perfect size, perfectly moist, and came with a very nice clotted cream

Lottie V.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here for ages, and I'm so glad I finally did! SooCute and kitschy! The decor was whimsical, and so was my order. I was a little hesitant about $16 for two scones and tea, but the scones I was brought were literally overflowing off my plate and the tea was a full pot! The plating was also adorable, I loved the mismatched teacups. I got Alice's Tea Blend and a dark chocolate chip butterscotch scone + a vegan strawberry and lemon glaze scone. Both were delicious! I did not eat breakfast beforehand and the tea + scones filled me until dinner, I was even able to take home leftovers. The staff was also lovely, one lady at the front complimented the outfits of my friends and I, and our server was so kind and helped us take our photo! Lovely lovely experience overall. :)

Catherine H.

Yelp
This is a super adorable and funky tea place! The theme is of course Alice in wonderland, and the decor is just as cute as you would imagine. It kind of feels like you're in a children's storybook. I came here on a Sunday afternoon with a group of 4 for my little birthday brunch and we had such a fun time!! It was really busy and there are no reservations for groups under 6 on weekends, but we still managed to get a table after a couple minutes. The menu is extensive, and we chose to order 2 Madhatters (tea, sandwiches and pastries for two, $77). The portion sizes were much bigger than we expected and we couldnt finish - and thats a good thing! We liked everything, especially the teas that we chose. Our favorite tea was their signature Alice's Tea. It smelled and tasted amazing. They also gave me a complimentary cupcake for my birthday! I will say service was really slow for us and it took an extra long time for us to get our teas, but despite that we still enjoyed our time. I would recommend this place for celebrations or anyone who's just looking to have some light refreshments and snacks!

Cara T.

Yelp
I came back here for the first time in a few years and had the most lovely lunch! The decorations are so kitschy and adorable. It's perfect for kids and kids at heart! We made reservations and were seated right away. Their Indian Chai tea is y favorite, so I did a pot of that. It comes with the milk already steeped in and is probably my favorite chai I've had. To eat, I had the smoked salmon sandwich. It is super simple, but delicious! There is tons of smoked salmon on it and I loved the dressing on the side salad. You can't come here without trying their scones! The pumpkin caramel is my favorite and it was served warm and right out of the oven. You can't beat it! The only negative is that the chairs are so uncomfortable. I sat on their booth/bench and it was super hard. Literally just a piece of wood. It would be nice if they could add some sort of cushion. I love this spot for a light but delicious lunch! You can also get their pastries to go which is an added bonus if you just need to get your scone fix!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Love this place. Great place to get a pot of tea, snack in a charming cafe-style atmosphere. Great selection of tea including herbal. Food is always good. Nice selection of sandwiches, scones, and salads.

Olivia K.

Yelp
This place is so unique! Very small and cozy, perfect for a girls trip or fun tea experience. We had plenty of food and the atmosphere was so light and airy!

Cynthia G.

Yelp
Paying more for the experience than the food. You each get your own individually mismatched teapot (super cute). We ordered a The Madhatter ~ (tea for two) came with choice of three scones w/ cream & preserves, choice of two sandwiches and Mocha cake with assorted mini cookies. It was around $70. My goddaughter loved it and the service was nice. Patient and answered our questions about various teas and recommendation.

Chen H.

Yelp
The Madhatter was perfect for two, especially if you were on empty bellies. Love love the cute stand and how they stage everything. The savory scone (bacon and cheese?) was surprisingly good ; salmon sandwich was a bit disappointing as it has nothing else on it; all the sweets on the bottom were quite yummy too, despite cake being a bit hard. We sat at the outdoor dining area and service did not forget us even though we were the only table outside.

Bernhard S.

Yelp
Great food and amazing for younger kids. And our server was very nice and gave us great suggestions

Anon H.

Yelp
Their scones are fantastic! And I love their child, friendly stars. So cute when little girls put on the butterfly wings.

Mayra N.

Yelp
this was our first time in NY and my cousin and I wanted to have a tea time experience. The area it is at, the location the entire place is super fun and cute. The unlatched table setting is by far my favorite thing. The food is incredible. We advice to come hungry for sure. I'd say it's an experience we recommend if you love the Tea Time experience.

Matteo B.

Yelp
We went in for an afternoon tea with reservation and upon seating down we were told that they ran out of scones so no afternoon tea options available for that day (it was 1pm). So we decided to stay since we commuted to this specific area and order a couple of sandwiches. The croque monsieur was a very mediocre sandwich with hard and thick ham probably taken from some cheap frozen pack, along with some very poor-looking salad with even more mediocre dressing. That sandwich was 24$. The salmon sandwich I ordered was ok, at most. Additionally, servers were teenagers dressed up for a park stroll or a workout session, couldn't distinguish them from the rest of the folks and overall contributed to an underwhelming experience. If you guys are going for a classy afternoon tea type of experience, please look elsewhere!

Ramya N.

Yelp
Review is for hosting only...as a longtime fan of Alice's Tea Cup, I'm so disappointed to have to leave this review but it didn't sit right with me to not say anything. While waiting to be seated, my friend and I (both women of color) noted that everyone else who had been waiting were seated before us - including multiple parties who arrived after us. They all happened to be white. In fact, at one point we were told our table was ready by a different hostess and she was getting ready to seat us - when the initial hostess (who had been preferentially seating the other parties) stopped her and informed us that other parties had been waiting before us and gave our table away. (Not true). We promptly left. I think Alice's should be more choosy in its hiring practices of hosting staff. This was not a good look, and has soured me on the place.

Sunita H.

Yelp
Whimsical Delicious Fun The Mad Hatter Meal is soo filling! Usually you can find a deal for it on Pulsd

Marcela S.

Yelp
I was looking forward to having tea and scones at this cute place, but it was very disappointing. The cucumber sandwich had thick wedges of cucumbers and had no taste. The scones were cold and too thick. My tea was nothing to rave about. It was very light, didn't really taste like fresh Darjeeling tea leaves. The cookies were hard, not really fresh. Wouldn't go back to have tea here. The place is nothing to rave about.

Jessica K.

Yelp
My family came here after lunch for some tea and light snacks and it was great. You can get a large pot of tea for 13$. I got their banana bread and their cupcake. The cupcake was nothing special but the banana bread was delicious! They had a lot of combinations of tea and scone sets which was nice. The service was good but terribly slow- there was only one waiter and since we were seated in the back we had to flag them down twice. The ambiance was cute though, with an Alice in the wonderland theme. It was very casual and gave an old-school feel.

Jaimie O.

Yelp
We were disappointed by this tea spot, as it seems others have been, as of late. I felt it needed a physical re-fresh--it is grimy and run-down. It was not like other tea spots I have gone too that specialize in being "delightful". This was rather more of a run-down sandwich shop that happens to serve tea. The table we were at had other people's garbage in a tea cup left and had food that had dried onto the HUGE salt and pepper shakers. Why they were so huge is beyond me. The walls were grimy, paint worn off, with some cute mural calligraphy and some framed Alice in wonderland themed art but then some other "avant- garde" photos of the same group of five people over and over. The space felt like a dark and dirty hovel--'Aubrey they were trying to make it feel like the rabbit warren that the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland would have lived in. Who knows? The wait staff, other than the nice African American woman that served us efficiently, seemed to be miserable and annoyed that we were there. The scones were fine but nothing amazing. You could tell they were baked the day before or very early that day and just re-heated. The whipped cream I found very odd tasting. After looking in the recipe book for the business it is a special addition of lemon juice. I found this so strange and would have really preferred clotted cream. This is not a business I would ever recommend or go to again.

Mike S.

Yelp
Very cool place to enjoy great food, super selections of tea and really nice people. 5star..

Wendy Y.

Yelp
I took my sister here to celebrate her birthday. We didn't have a reservation and came on a Saturday afternoon but surprisingly, there was only a 20 minute wait! The major draw of having high tea here is the ambiance. We were choosing between different tea spots and there are many with better pricing and better food, but she liked the tea parlor ambiance here. I definitely felt transported to the set of Alice's tea party from the movie. While waiting, we had admired the long selection of teas being offered and naturally chose the Mad Hatter Tea for Two so we could try unlimited tea. Actually, they only offer unlimited refills on the two teas you choose originally, but our server was so generous and allowed me to try one additional one as a courtesy. The teas were phenomenal and the most memorable part of the experience. I had the Rooibos Coconut Vanilla and the Green Tea Chai. I love milk tea, and had both of these with milk and honey. The food paled in comparison to the tea. We were allowed to choose three scones, two tea sandwiches, a pastry in addition to the assortment of cookies provided. The scones were MASSIVE. Each one was the size of a mug. I didn't really like the cheddar scone but the vegan lemon blueberry was scrumptious and the pumpkin chocolate chip was delicious as well. The sandwiches were awesome but this was the only savory component of the tea service and should have been more extensive in comparison to the sweets. The few slivers of smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches we had were nothing compared to the mountains of sweets we ingested. Our mocha cake was moist and decadent, but the cookies were hard and way too sweet. For me, the whole experience was a little too expensive and overzealous with the amount of sweets provided. I would have appreciated more sandwiches as a substitute for the cookies or cake but there wasn't that option. Great service and tea, but I'd rather do my own tea service at home with some homemade sandwiches and scones.

Yelp
Such a cute spot for tea and we spotted Anne Hathaway and her husband just when we are done. This place has indoor and outdoor seating. No reservation required. If you need to call this location for whatever reason, call the Chapter 2 at the East Side because this location doesn't pick up their phone. Nevertheless, they have 4 tea sets: 1. Tea & Scones: comes with choice of 2 scones and a cup of tea with 3 free refills. 2. Nibble: tea for 1 with unlimited refills. Comes with choice of 1 scone, 1 sandwich, and assorted mini cookies. 3. Madhatter: tea for 2 with unlimited refills. Comes with choice of 3 scones, 2 sandwiches, 1 cake, and assorted mini cookies. +$15 extra to make it tea for 3. 4. Jabberwocky: unlimited tea, unlimited scones, unlimited sandwiches, 1 cake, and assorted cookies for 2 hours time limit. +$11 extra to make it tipsy tea with 1 glass of Prosecco or house wine. Scones: They gave us 5 scones to choose from and I highly recommend their chocolate scone. It was so warm and flavorful. The vegan strawberry scone and the buttermilk scone were okay. Although I do also wanna try their pumpkin caramel scone. Sandwiches: I really liked their smoked salmon sandwich. Their lapsang chicken sandwich was okay, although it pair well with stardust tea. Their curried chicken sandwich is more popular than their lapsang chicken. Cake: We were given a choice of their chocolate cake and their mocha cake. We opted for the mocha cake. It was a bit dry and too sweet. Assorted cookies: They only have chocolate chip cookies that day. It was okay. It would be nice if it was warm and freshly made. Tea: They have a large tea selection. We opted for their Silver Needle Jasmine and Stardust tea. I really like their Silver Needle Jasmine tea, which is their white tea blended with jasmine flowers. It was really smooth and whimsical like Alice in the Wonderland. Their Stardust tea was okay. It was more on the fruity end and it's a gentle blend of blue lavender, cornflowers, blue mallow blossoms, rose petals, and lemongrass with a hint of lemon and mango. The staff was really nice. They were so attentive and patient even though we stayed way past closing.

Yelp
Had a nice high tea experience at this establishment. We ordered a bundle, which included two tea options, assorted sandwiches, and scones. Service was good, place was quaint and clean. We had to make an appointment to attend. Will try again.

Yelp
Came here for a womens' getaway tea and had the back room to ourselves. Very very fun! And way too much food (although we ordered ahead of time). We got the assortment of scones, finger sandwiches and dessert. My favorite part of tea is clotted cream and jam on top of scones. And they had it. We enjoyed the sandwiches too. Cookies were not amazing, so we passed on those. Took home 1/3 of the scones!

Yelp
Food was ok. My husband and I were very hungry so we, as usual, ordered way too much food, yet none of it was impressive. We ordered one of the afternoon tea sets (for two, if I remember correctly) and added on an extra scone because the flavors they had that day sounded interesting. The scones were large and looked appetizing but were very dry. The tea sandwiches and sweet treats were also just alright. I normally devour macarons but the two that came with our set were not very good. Overall, it not a very memorable experience, but not a bad one either. Just meh. You may want to skip this place and try another afternoon tea place in NY...there are many.
