Desmond Castle Adare

What a wonderful tour! If you're lucky enough to have Mark as a guide, you will surely also have lots of fun (as well as learn plenty!)! Highly recommend!

We were the only people on the tour so we got court very own private viewing of this beautiful castle! This is a must see when in Limerick along with king johns castle in Limerick city.

This was one of my favorite castles that I visited while traveling through Ireland. Our tour guide was exceptional. She was extremely knowledgable with great delivery. My husband and I were 5 minutes late for the last tour and the woman at the information center called the tour guide and had her wait for us. We were able to drive right through the castle Gates and join the tour just in time. She even covered information that we missed from being late at the end of the tour. Nothing like Irish hospitality and story telling. The yew trees in the castle grounds are over 500 years old and a sight to behold! This is also a heritage site for those travellers wondering.

This is a must see in Adare, especially if you are interested in archeological findings and excavations. This is an authentic, as is, castle, and the only way you can approach it and go in it is with an Adare historical guided tour that is reasonably priced. Walking around inside the ruins I felt like I was touring Pompeii! What made it even more exciting was our fabulous tour guide, Mary. You can get tickets easily in the Adare tourism building in the center of town on Main Street.

It rained ALL DAY when we visited, although the tour was great, it would have been much more enjoyable if the weather was a bit better as the Castle is completely open and there's not a lot of cover from the elements. You can only go on a guided tour (tickets purchased from the information centre), which we preferred as we got a great history lesson of the town and the castle. Our tour guide (Evan) was very informative and energetic throughout the tour. If you visit Adare, make sure you check out Desmond Castle. The Adare Manor was under construction (late Sept 2017), but if it's open when you visit, add it to your list!

The guide was knowledgeable and a lot of fun. The place itself is fascinating and well worth visiting.

This was a fantastic tour. If you are a history buff and want to see a “real castle”, take the guided tour. Sandra was excellent. Will be recommending to everyone.
