Beautiful gallery with so many incredible features. The building itself is gorgeous, along with all the fascinating artwork 🖼️ exhibitions and the roof terrace is an added bonus. The gallery is full of interesting exhibitions, some interactive - from Aberdeen history to suffragette movements. It is absolutely worth a visit, it’s free and I definitely recommend the stunning views from the roof terrace too. Fo not miss this place. Thanks to all the tinder staff for galleries like this ❤️

Great place to visit at any time of year.. At moment displaying Mary Queen of Scots casket. If you like shiny things & history. A must see while it's on loan to the Gallery. Also Celebrating Grays School of Art exhibition until April. Plus a great display of pottery & ceramics. Plus lots more. Easily accessible. Lifts Diassability friendly facilities. And cafes top and bottom with lovely views out to Aberdeen city centre. Plenty of toilet facilities also on 3 levels. A jewel in Aberdeen city centre that deserves to be well funded and forever kept alive. Gives so much back to the city on culture history & the Arts. Also plenty of shops in the vicinity plus refirbished union terrace gardens. His majesty's theatre. Central city Libary. Triple Kirks pub. If you live in the city or are visiting this is an excellent city centre starting point to visit and plan the rest of your days adventure. To really soak up the Aberdeen Vibe and get the creative ideas going along with the useful information at hand. You would be hard pressed not to find something you like or something of interest in this location. But only one way to find out. Visit and see for yourselves. X

Spent a couple of hours exploring this gallery and was most impressed. While the collection is naturally focused on Aberdeen and Scottish art, it does have a diversity of art, including sculptures, paintings, modern, eclectic, and also works by the French Impressionists (Renoir, Monet). The galleries are well laid out, and the artwork is well presented in a family-friendly way. This is a definite gem in Aberdeen’s cultural and heritage portfolio. Well worth visiting when in Aberdeen. Highly recommended.

What a revelation - one on the best art galleries I have ever visited - we are lucky in our home city regions of Liverpool and Manchester to access amazing facilities and the day before we visited the V&A Storehouse in East London, but this was something else - so well curated and beautiful spaces and galleries, hard to describe how well done it is from the sketch pads to capture your own creativity, to the remembrance hall that is so moving. Its clearly benefited from great investment but its the curation that wins through - a must visit.

Huge art gallery with interesting interactive display in the ground floor explaining the history. Good mix of styles and eras. Highlights: Fascinating room on McBey Interesting comparison of English/ French styles in impressionists. The Aberdeen/ Doric room Shocked to come across my young doppelganger, painted by Dorothy Johnstone. Nice shop Helpful staff. A jewel for the region and well beyond P.S. What happened to the bodies under Gallery 4?

I make it a point to visit an art gallery in every city I go to. These days many galleries focus on modern art which is not really my thing so it was great to see Aberdeen Art Gallery still showcasing traditional styles that clearly remain valued by the public. There are some incredible pieces here and I even discovered a few new favourites. Special shout out to Joseph Farquharson and Ken Currie in my opinion two of the most amazing artists with paintings on display. The staff are very welcoming and do not pressure you into donations which is appreciated since the gallery like many others is free to explore. It is on the smaller side which is a bit of a downside but for its size it packs in a great variety of work. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Aberdeen.

Lovely place to visit and fit donation only Enjoyed the variety of art and the encouragement to do my own drawing. Photos of my favourite pieces which are mainly contemporary but a lot of classical pieces too. Gallery is light and bright with sun light through sun column in middle. Do visit the top floor to be able to go outside and see Aberdeen with height..Great coffee too

Yelp
We have lived for years in Aberdeen and this has been the first time we visited the Aberdeen Art Gallery. The building is lovely inside with a nice shop and a couple of decent cafes. We went solely for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition on the second floor. Hence, no observations on the art work, other than that the special exhibition was excellent.

Yelp
Aberdeen Art Gallery is especially strong for 20th Century British, with interesting pictures by Spencer, Eardley and the Scottish Colourists. There are a number of decent Victorian paintings and a good clutch of French Impressionists including work by Bonnard, Renoir and Tolouse-Lautrec. There is a good collection of drawings on display too, and some exquisite glassware. The building is beautiful and offers access to the handsome Cowdray Hall, and war memorial.

Yelp
The Cowdray Hall is a fantastic building in Aberdeen. Steeped in history it is located within Aberden Art Gallery and can be accessed both through the Gallery and from the street. The Cowdray Hall was bequethed to the city of Aberdeen in the 1920s by the Pearson family who still have a posivite and lasting relationship with the Hall and City of Aberdeen. I first became aware of the Cowdray about 20 years ago when I came to live in Aberdeen. Almost as a hidden secret there are the most wonderful concerts played here during almost the academic term , and all for free. The concerts are approxmmately for 45 minutes on a Thursday lunch time. The music is wide ranging and allows those working or taking time out to get back in touch with themselves . There is a lunch provided by Friends of the Art Gallery for a nominal amount. Donations are always welcome. This event is something you just might be made aware of if you are visitor to my home. Do come along.
