Maybe the best shop I know of in NYC. I’ve visited 3 times & have always walked out with a stacked tote bag. A-1 has a high volume of inventory that seems to cycle fast. Most of the titles on the shelves are priced to move - there are some on the walls that you rarely see in the wild these days (and priced accordingly, as you’d imagine). I particularly enjoyed their singles boxes & the new wave section, where I found a handful of cheapies that were on my list. A record store for record diggers.

Deejay from France, this is my second time in New York, and AOne is a must ! Every time I visit AOne, I always find original LPz in good condition. The prices remain at market prices. As a passionate Digger, I will return to AOne !

I frequent this play a lot but I will not be going anymore. My family decided to visit and my brother really wanted to go to this store. The staff is disgusting. Not only have they been rude to me in the past, but one of the employees snatched a record out of my brothers hand cause he was "mishandling it." I saw the whole thing, it was absolutely awful. When I approached staff about this, informing them that was my brother, they ridiculed him and explained "if he didn't know how to handle it he could've asked." My brother has autism. He wasn't doing anything wrong. He was going to buy the record but the employee snatched it. I dont know who this guy was but he was beet red when talking to him. He said "I don't like people mishandling my merchandise." But even if he did "mishandle it" he was going to buy it? Literally disgusting behavior. Im a musician and would go there all the time to find material that would inspire me to write more. Never again. Don't give your money to these people. You're better off getting your vinyls from Barnes and noble.

I came across a selection of niche future jazz records. Taking the time to listen to each one and pick my favorites made for a great experience.

A-1 Record Shop has become my go-to destination for vintage vinyl. Each visit yields a new treasure, thanks to their consistently impressive inventory. While their prices can be on the higher side, they are often willing to work with customers—particularly when purchasing multiple titles. Their collection of throwback Hip-Hop and R&B is second to none, making it a must-visit for any true music enthusiast.

Compact, but full of gems and well organized. The house and disco 12”s are organized by label. Four listening stations. A top-tier NY record store. This place, Human Head, Captured Tracks and Academy are the best of NY’s record stores, as far as I have seen.

They know and have it all! SUCH a cool vibe! Called my 20yr old and asked what he wanted from NYC and he immediately said, “Please go to A-1 Records”. He had a short and specific list and they had 3/5, in great condition. The specific Marvin Gaye he wanted was one of the only MG they didn’t have. They said the other one he wanted was also always out fast when it comes in. The collection is immense and the staff are knowledgeable, super helpful and cool:)

Good place for DJs who want 12 inch singles and promo vinyl. A bit pricey, but depends on what your looking for as a collector. As in first pressings, promo copies, etc. If you're looking for Metal music, this isn't your place.
