A-1 Record Shop

Great find in groovy area East Village, Manhattan. Calm vibe lots of vinyls and easy to find the shop.

We love to pop in A1 Record Shop when we visit New York, great variety of used vinyls. Highly recommended.

The organization of the shop was elite. Everything was filed beautifully and easy to find. Of course you can’t expect a LES business to be massive in space either so get ready to make friends. Due to the small space you need to be a true crate digger and get low. I will also say that the prices here are on the steeper end for used vinyls. I’ve seen some singles going for $12 when I can go to a few others in Manhattan and Brooklyn and get the whole album for cheaper. Just my preference on how I shop for vinyls. But they have a great selection. I just think I can find better prices at another shop or Discogs

Best record store in the city! Great prices and selections. I particularly like how organized and broken down into genres the vinyl is. The vibes are immaculate and I will definitely be back!

They know and have it all! SUCH a cool vibe! Called my 20yr old and asked what he wanted from NYC and he immediately said, “Please go to A-1 Records”. He had a short and specific list and they had 3/5, in great condition. The specific Marvin Gaye he wanted was one of the only MG they didn’t have. They said the other one he wanted was also always out fast when it comes in. The collection is immense and the staff are knowledgeable, super helpful and cool:)

The DJ in the back blasting music throughout the store, as soon as you walk in is a vibe. They even have a couple record players and headphones at the front of the store for customers to listen to records. You can tell the store has history, as well as feel it when you walk in. No one was walking up offering help or anything, but honestly I wasn't expecting that. They were helping anytime we had questions for them. The vinyls available are mostly hip hop, jazz, and they did have some Beatles, Nirvana and alternative stuff. My little one is a creative writing major, and has become a published poet. I explained to him hip hop is a form of poetry and his love for the genre as well as other music has skyrocketed. I have a record player and for months he has been saying he can't wait to get his 1st record. The joy on his face when we walked through the doors is priceless. If your a fan of music and records def recommend A1.

Great selection, great customer service, records in fantastic shape and fairly priced. Thank you to the nice employee who happily helped my son find almost everything he was looking for. What more could you ask for in a record store (aside from Thomas Bengaulter) that was on display. Thanks again!

Prices and the finds here are so worth scrambling through their huge and varied selection. The bargain bins outside were a jackpot for me. Got some amazing old & limited edition vinyl for $2-4 which is insane! Love this place.
