49th Parallel Café & Lucky's Doughnuts - West 4th

Love the aesthetic of this place. The coffee and the donuts were both great, there's not much more to say than that! It's definitely worth a stop here, really nice coffee shop to sit and take a break at.

Honestly if you’re looking to have a donut and a cup of coffee you won’t be disappointed here I don’t think. Also pleased to see they had Sap Sucker, as I think that’s a great beverage to be carrying. It gets a bit busy here so finding a table can be a pain. But I don’t see where I should be docking any marks so five stars it is!

49th Parallel Café and Lucky’s Doughnuts is a must-visit spot in Vancouver. The café offers exceptional direct-sourced coffee, perfectly brewed to satisfy any coffee lover. Their doughnuts are equally impressive, with unique flavors like Salted Caramel and Earl Grey Lavender. The cozy, welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff make it a great place to relax and enjoy a treat. Prices are reasonable, and the quality is consistently high.

Took out a few doughnuts last week! Love the open windows in the space. I had the vegan and gluten friendly Vanilla Sprinkled. I thought it was good, but did feel a tad doughy. I've had "fluffier" gluten friendly/gluten-free doughnuts before. Great glaze and sprinkles without it being overly sweet. Also picked up the Orange Creamsicle and Peanut Butter & Jelly. They were given in individual paper bags, so don't travel well (as you can see from my picture of the creamsicle). We thought the PB&J could have had more berry jam on the inside to balance out the nutty flavor. That being said, we always like trying unique flavors so appreciate the offerings from Lucky's! Nice staff at the front counter as well. One awkward note was leaving the washroom area and almost running into a staff member doing a quick change in the public space of the cafe. They were putting on a shirt over their current shirt and had their back to the washrooms (and blocking the way back to the cafe as it's a one-person pathway). Another customer behind me had to say "excuse me" after we stood there for 10 seconds while the staffer had no idea there were people waiting to move past. Wondering if they don't have a proper staff room/space as the staffer was standing next to what looked like a small closet. Either way, it would be good if they were aware of their surroundings given the space!

It's been a while since I stopped in, and the latte with cinnamon syrup is delightful! It's soft, smooth, and fluffy throughout. Ill say it one of the best laits in Vancouver. It pairs well with a chocolate truffle from the Purdys Chocolate Boutique next door.

I went earlier this morning to pick up a dozen assorted donuts at the West 4th location to surprise my colleagues. I planned to go early as 7.30am so store will not be busy and great assortment would be available. Entering the store, I was happy as the donut counter was full! Quite disappointed when I opened the box in the office to see that pretty much all the donuts had duplicates, not the assorted dozen as advertised. The team appreciated the gesture but nothing special “where are my favorite, the peanut butter one?”

Great coffee. Known for thier donuts. Great atmosphere. Quite and pleasant. Highly recommend. Free parking on the parallel street.
