Absence of Light Peanut Butter Chocolate Milk Stout: 4 Hands Brewing was founded in 2011 and is located in St Louis, Missouri. They are the largest craft brewery in the city and have given back over $300,000 to local non-profits. The brewery describes their stout as "The perfect mash-up of cacao nibs and peanut butter supported by caramel, chocolate and roasted malts, Absence of Light opens with huge aromas reminiscent of creamy peanut butter cups and transitions into a silky milk stout with rich chocolate and coffee notes tapering to a slightly sweet finish provided by an addition of milk sugar." It has an ABV of 7.1% and is only available August-February. I'm by no means a teetotaler, but I'm much less of a beer enthusiast than I was in my college days. This was the third stout I tried this past winter and while drinking it I had the epiphany that even though I really want to like stouts, I don't. That being said, I think most stout fans will enjoy this beer. Peanut butter did stand out to me as it was prominent in the aftertaste, but the beer was too bitter for my preference. Absence of Light comes in one of the coolest looking cans I've encountered. It depicts some type of peanut putter monster/demon sitting on what might be a spoon. Kudos to the artist. Overall, for me this one was just okay. Doughboy_Food_Reviews

Always great beers on tap! Service is always friendly and helpful. Fun games up stairs. Our favorite spot to park before a Cards game. A bit of a hike, but works off the beer!

Underwhelming experience. Had high hopes, really looking forward to a flight of gluten free options, but none on tap. Bartenders seemed unknowledgeable regarding gluten free options. No gluten free food. Probably won’t be back.

I tried a flight, but I wasn't crazy about the drafts on tap at the time. I actually enjoyed the seltzer. The tots were good! The place was festive for the holidays.

Hidden brewery because the area is dark haha but the staff was friendly and the beer was good. Lots of cool posters and drawings too.

Great brewery with good beer selection - Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Theres an awesome space upstairs to eat and be merry. They even have video games for the kids. Tried their rye whiskey, which was pretty good but priced a little high for the (my) taste. Having a shared space restaurant in their venue is a nice touch, but not technically 4Hands so wont review it. But it was 4 star bar food. Kid friendly during the day .

Food is awful eat before you get here. Atmosphere is good beers are up to normal 4hands standards but roach was found when we were returning food trash. Drinks: good, the Christmas specialty was excellent. food:don't bother. Chicken had a fishy taste and were super thin cuts for the price. Nachos were okay. 100s of places to eat in stl. The district 4hands location 10x better.
