1880 Atypical Rooms

Amazing hotel in the centre of Rome. It’s great value for money and the rooms are super clean. The staff are nice and polite, and the breakfast is great! I’ll definitely come back next time.

People who book a room at Atypical Rooms should be aware of a few things: |- The hotel consists of 6 rooms on the 3rd floor of a building. (which means 4th floor if you count it the American way)|- There is a very small and very slow elevator. We mostly walked up and down the stairs so we had no problems with it. But if you have mobility problems, you may hate this. |- The room that we got had no door to the bathroom. And the shower is separated from the bed with a glass wall. Which means that you can see the person taking a shower and that you can hear all the noise from the toilet. Zero privacy whatsoever. It's probably ok for a couple, but I wouldn't recommend that for friends or mother-daughter/son. =) |- Most of the time, there's nobody at the reception. So you're on your own most of the time. But if you need anything, you can text the hotel (WhatsApp) and they're very fast in responding and very helpful. We ran into the cleaning staff a few times, and they were all very nice. |- The location is in Monti area. Not super busy or touristy. A lot of restaurants in the back. We liked the location. But it's not really in the center of tourist attractions, so you will have to walk quite a bit to go to places. ||All in all, we enjoyed our stay and I would come back. But I am fully aware that this may not be good for everybody. Please make sure that you're ok with walking up the stairs and no privacy in the bathroom.

We stayed for 5 nights nearing the start of the summer. The hotel is unique and very clean- it looks just like the pictures. It was a very easy walk to most of the popular tourist destinations on the east side of the Tiber, and there are many wonderful restaurants in Monti, right around the hotel. Simona was extremely helpful and very responsive to any questions or needs. We would absolutely stay there again!

This was our second stay at 1880 and there was a great reason why we returned. ||The rooms are clean, modern, fun, and a great vibe. ||Simona who works at the hotel was also great. Very welcoming and extremely informative about all of the things to do in Rome. ||We stayed in rooms 8 and 88 which were spacious. Simona also surprised us all with a lovely bottle of Prosecco which was so appreciated! ||The hotel is in a great location. Walking distance from the central Rome train station and also walking distance from all of the main attractions in and around Rome. Also, it is just a 5-7 minute walk to the Republica metro which again we used and was extremely easy to navigate. ||Thank you Simona, and the 1880 team. We said it in our last review in 2016, and we will say it again… we will be back!

Very clean and stylish room and big modern bathroom. Perfect central location and taxis across the street. Excellent customer service. Only recommendation is to put black out curtains in the rooms to keep bright lights from busy street from interrupting sleep.

We loved how clean everything was & how beautifully everything was furnished. Most of all the fantastic bed & pillows!! So comfortable - I finally had good sleep. Great location as well. We walked everywhere. Also close to public transportation. We parked our car 3 blocks away but had access to it 24 hours. We did have difficulty finding the place. We did not know that the hotel is in a building shared with a number of other hotels. My first experience with this & afterwards I stayed in multiple places like this. Just know you won't see a sign emblazoned on a building saying "1880 Atypical Rooms". Extremely helpful staff - quick to respond to our Whatsapp messages!! Many thanks for a great Rome experience!!

Had an excellent experience at this hotel. It is a little “different” due to the uncommon entrance and elevator, but once you get past that, its a wonderful place to stay. The front desk was very attentive and accommodating. The hotel is also located in a very central part of rome. You have easy access to the metro and various bus stops. Would recommend any young couple to stay here

We had a wonderful time at 1880 Atypical Rooms end of November. The hotel has a perfect location for all sights, which you can do by foot. The room was clean and beautiful! The staff was really kind and also informed us about everything we wanted to know. We'll come back again!
