At this cozy, reservation-only eatery set in a charming house, you'll feast on an endless parade of traditional Italian dishes that feel just like a family gathering.
"Eating at 15 Fox Place always feels like going to a dinner party in someone’s home, and right now is no different. This Italian-American spot has a nice enclosed garden on a residential street in Journal Square, where you can bring your own wine, and enjoy filling, family-style dishes like eggplant stuffed with fontinella, pastas, and chicken roulade. Call 201-333-1476 to make a reservation." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, matt tervooren
"As its name suggests, this downtown Italian spot focuses on pasta. Pick-up fresh pastas and sauces from their retail counter, and listen to the person behind the bar recommend sauces like a sommelier recommends wine. You can also order fully prepared dishes for delivery Wednesday through Saturday, including hand-cut fettuccine with mushroom ragu, or ravioli filled with slow-braised short rib (our favorite pasta here)." - matt tervooren
"From partitions to plastic igloos, places are trying lots of different tactics to make people feel like they have their own dining spaces. 15 Fox Place does it better than just about anyone else, and they barely need to try. That’s because this Italian-American spot is in a residential house in Journal Square, and most tables are located in totally separate rooms. Along with the house and enclosed back garden, everything about this place makes you feel like you’re at a friend’s dinner party, like the BYOB policy, and the prix-fixe setup with no menu and a borderline-egregious amount of food." - matt tervooren
"15 Fox Place isn’t like having dinner in someone’s home—it is having dinner in someone’s home. Though the owners don’t live upstairs anymore, every room in this house on a residential street in Journal Square is still decorated with wedding pictures and family mementos. The food is Italian-American, and while the courses on the $95 set menu change nightly, you can expect a lot of filling family-style dishes. Come hungry (and with your own bottle of wine—it’s BYO), because the six-course meal is hefty. After around five appetizers of things like polenta arrabbiata and eggplant stuffed with fontinella, there are a couple pastas followed by entrees like chicken roulade, and then desserts. You’ll definitely need a reservation, and you have to make one over the phone. Don’t worry, you can do it. " - matt tervooren, nisha vedi pawar, kendal nicole lambert
