In 1977, an actuary abandoned his cozy 9-5 to curate a collection of books, candles and incense, journals and homegoods, knick-knacks, and an assortment of other delightful curiosities. He named the operation Sqecial, after a newspaper typo replacing the p in special with a q. 45+ years later, it’s still Lexington’s sqecial spot.
