Das Schmitz im Museum is one piece of a lovely Cologne institution called Schmitz consisting of a café/take away counter, a lounge, a bar/restaurant, a nightclub and a lunch spot in a [museum](http://www.museum-fuer-ostasiatische-kunst.de/) - which is what we're recommending here. Schmitz is known for their great quiches and cakes, which makes it a perfect stop for a post-museum lunch or for kaffee und kuchen (a 3-5pm German tradition of having coffee and cake). The café is located facing the [Aachener Weiher](/aachener-weiher/) man-made lake and has a lovely terrace to enjoy some sun while you drink your cappuccino and reflect on East Asian art."
