"Along with its list of rules for ordering and somewhat standoffish social media presence, Burgers Never Say Die in Silver Lake is famous for smashburgers that are more or less nostalgic dupes of the five-bite ones you’d find at the Golden Arches. The problem is they fly a little too close to the McD’s sun (at more than double the price). The cafeteria-issue bun is buttery and toasted but a bit dry, the ketchup-mustard ratio is slightly off, and the finely minced onion all but disappears under the cheese. Plus, the salty, ultra-thin patties are so crisp and brittle, they could be communion wafers for Keto Jesus. The regular comes with two, but we usually need a triple just to feel moved. Be sure to get some fries and soft serve if you're there—both are also McD's-like, in a much better way." - Garrett Snyder
