"Eastern European Jewish bakery Hof Kelsten is one of the few places in town to get a caraway rye and a fabulous croissant with crisp, flaky edges, both perfectly done. We love all their breads—the earthy sunflower and nine grain in particular—but it’s the chocolate babka and rugelach that keep us coming back. There are two locations: the original Plateau location on St-Laurent Boulevard with some seating and a brunchy-lunch menu, and the new Hof Sucrée spot near the MIL complex that has a cozy café for a coffee, sandwiches, and snacks on weekdays." - Ivy Lerner-Frank
