"Everybody loves a good gimmick, like Slash’s top hat or Reebok Pumps or 50 Cent’s entire career. But that’s not necessarily true when it comes to dinner. Sometimes you want to have meal in a restaurant that doesn’t have a concept, and instead just serves good, simple food in a pleasant setting. A restaurant like 10 Greek Street. Despite only opening in 2012, 10 Greek Street has already become a London classic. This restaurant was one of the first in Soho’s transformation into the most restaurant dense part of this city, and the quality of the food and service here has allowed them to remain at the top of the heap despite heaps of new competition. The European-inspired menu changes depending on whatever’s best from their suppliers that day, service is always attentive, and the restaurant has the atmosphere of a treasured neighbourhood drop-in, despite the fact that it’s bang-smack in the centre of Soho. We eat here a lot, and it’s never been anything less than satisfying, with brilliant cooking to match a fantastic wine list that offers something for everyone. It's got a nice atmosphere and nice people. And that's a concept we can get behind. photo credit: Karolina Wiercigroch Food Rundown photo credit: Karolina Wiercigroch Charcuterie 10 Greek is great for a full dinner, but it’s also good for a drink and some tasty food. Whichever one you’re doing, a pretty plate of Spanish and Italian ham is a good way to kick things off. Fried Squid Oh yes. You’ll want some bread to mop up the oil from these tasty little suckers. photo credit: Karolina Wiercigroch Burrata They should bring this out with the bread basket at all restaurants. The example here is always very good. It’s properly creamy and properly tasty drenched in good olive oil. Scallops And Chorizo A classic combination, and these guys know how to instinctively pair together great ingredients like these. A little sweet, a little salty, all delicious. photo credit: Karolina Wiercigroch Venison With Root Veg, Kale, And Chestnuts The menu changes all the time, so you could get venison in the winter, or lamb when it starts to get warmer, depending on what’s in season. It’s a European take on meat and potatoes, and never one you’ll regret ordering. Tamworth Pork Belly, Greens You’re never going to regret ordering roast pork. Here, the ratio of fat to meat is always perfect, and ridiculously tender to boot. If someone asked you about the happiest moment in your life, we wouldn’t judge you for saying that this pork ran it a close second. Tarte Tatin, Vanilla Ice Cream The apple pie and ice cream combo of your dreams. This dish is an unabashed French classic and a trip down memory lane all at once." - David Paw
