"Chef Erick Williams had the idea for Virtue in his head for a long time. He is finally able to execute in Hyde Park, bringing a multicultural approach to Southern food to the South Side. Virtue and its team have racked up numerous awards since its 2019 debut, including Eater Chicago’s 2019 Restaurant of the Year. In 2022, Williams became the first Black chef to take home the James Beard Foundation’s best chef: Great Lakes award, and his protégée Damarr Brown won the foundation’s emerging chef award a year later." - Eater Staff
