Soprarno Suites

"What's the story here? The Oltrarno's boho, artisanal vibe makes it Florence's hottest neighborhood, and the SoprArno—occupying the top three floors of a townhouse—fits right in. The suites have an Etsy-chic feel, with vintage finds and stylish decor. Nice. Who are we likely to see at this hotel? Those on the hunt for a funkier Florence. How's check-in? Everything was easy, friendly, and efficient. Great! And how are the rooms? They're filled with fabulous vintage finds, retro furniture, and original artwork that play off the townhouse's original architectural elements, including exposed wooden beams. All rooms are individually themed; for example, Viaggiatore ("Traveler") has gorgeous framed maps alongside well-designed furniture and huge beds. Any other little standout details in the room that caught your eye? Rooms have notebooks, shopping bags, Nespresso machines, and kettles. Bathrooms have rain showers, Bigelow products, excellent hair dryers, and robes and slippers. That sounds great. And what about dining options on-site? This isn't a hotel; rather, it's more like a guest house. Breakfast—an excellent buffet with fresh pastries, fruit, and expert coffee—is served in the ground-level Sott’Arno café, which is owned by SoprArno team Betty Soldi and Matteo Perduca. A local favorite, it's known for its great panini and gets busy in the afternoons and evenings. Any other recommendations for making the most of our stay? Betty Soldi is a fabulous calligraphist; she and her husband, Matteo, have an incredible eye. Definitely talk to them about what to do and see around town. We will. Bottom line: worth it, and why? These suites offer a great value and a look at the funkier boho scene in Florence." - Erica Firpo
