"A Thermal Spa with Stellar Views Over the past few years, Zurich’s Hürlimann area—the site of what once was Switzerland’s largest brewery—has transformed into the home of Google Zurich , a complex of shops, and this stunning spa built into the former brewery’s hundred-year-old stone vaults. Its crowning touch: a heated rooftop pool with stellar views overlooking the city. For an extra dose of pampering, book a room at the adjoining B2 Boutique Hotel + Spa."

It was a very relaxing morning. The gentleman at the reception gave us a small introduction, since we have never been there. Very friendly staff. The changing rooms are spacious and later before the Roman-Irish Spa you had a lot of space to store the bathrobe / towel, because you didn't really need this afterwards. The stations are very nicely done and you could really relax well. The outdoor pool on the roof had a spectacular view over Zurich. Next time I will definitely book a massage too.

Google
Worth every last Swiss Franc. It was our last day in Zürich and we wanted to unwind and relax. The staff were incredibly friendly and we had no issues navigating the spa. We splurged on the Roman-Irish spa ritual and it was well worth it. I loved being able to go to the rooftop pool, the main bathhouse, and the bistro had excellent food (we had the spinach quiche and falafel). It was such a pampering experience that we spent over 4 hours enjoying everything offered. If we are ever back in Zürich, I will make sure we return. Thank you for the fantastic experience!

Google
Visited during the evening and was fairly quiet. Relaxing and unique experience in the rooftop pool. Enjoyed the indoor pool as well. Good surroundings. Was fairly warm and very bubbly. Friendly staff and the facilities were very clean.

Our favourite escape in the city. Simple but really refreshing. The rooftop is definitely the highlight

Google
Pro: Beautiful indoor style, water is warm 22*c I’d say. The rooftop view is a must. Was relaxing. The staff is kind, there are showers, hair dryers, 2 types of changing rooms depending on your comfort, the locker rooms r big. I personally enjoyed it for my first visit but .. cons: do not go on a weekend Friday-Sun as everyone goes. It was so full, it was lowkey cramped, ppl somewhat argued for space on the rooftop, and it’s awkward to find a spot to sit next to all those couples staring at you or being lovey dovey. Ofc expected though. - The “quiet” zone was the loudest convo place 😅. I’d really recommend going under the week. I would give it 5 stars but I gave 4 because of the overpacked crowd in all pools we experienced it was almost impossible to get a spot without waiting near a couple to leave. But I really recommend it if you haven’t been, beautiful atmosphere and I truly believe this place is worth it for the price when it’s calm and quiet! 🩷

this place is so beautiful. I really enjoy this immersive spa experience, it’s an ideal place for couples to go on a date

Google
Really nice place but too many couples engaging in A LOT of public display of affection. We went to the thermal pool, rooftop pool and the roman bath. It was all quite lovely. However, couples of all ages seem to come there to lie on top of each other in the pools, pet and stroke each other, twist up together in the rest areas. As a German-American, who has never observed this much pda anywhere else, it's quite interesting that the Swiss seem to be so much into making out in public.

Google
Absolutely stunning! From the minute I walked through the doors, I felt at ease. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the facilities are amazing. I did the Roman Irish Spa and each step was just bliss and the views from the rooftop pool are something else. The building is an old brewery I believe which just adds to the charm. Highly recommend if you're ever in Zurich.

Yelp
I recommend doing the Roman bath circuit. All very nice. I did a 25 minute peel massage also and it was similar to Korean scrub I've done before but more massage. Note locker rooms are coed use dressing rooms. Also called Hurlimannbad spa Zurich.

Yelp
This place was recommended to me by a friend and I'm so glad I came here! I booked a massage for my sister and I because if you don't, it's first time first served and there isn't a guarantee that you'll get in if they happen to be busy. I got the exfoliating massage and really enjoyed it! This spa is coed and similar to other spas I've been to, except fancier. There were plenty of changing rooms, lockers, showers, and a room filled with mirrors and hairdryers. If you are getting a massage, they ask that you arrive 2 hours beforehand to do the Roman-Irish spa ritual. Compared to other spas I've been to, the temperatures were comfortable and weren't overly hot or cold in any of the saunas or pools. Some things that were unique compared to other spas I've been to were that exfoliating and laying down on a warm stone were steps in the spa ritual. The spa ritual ends with lounge rooms where you can take a nap, read a book, and drink water and tea. In addition to the Roman-Irish spa ritual there is also a roof top infinity pool with great views of Zürich and a Thermal Bath. My favorite thing was the rain shower in the Thermal Bath because I've never experienced anything like it. You step in this shower and there are 3 shower heads that turn on in sequence with lights and sounds of rain and thunder, alternating cold and hot.

Yelp
Lovely place, relaxing and really well run . There are a good selection of treats in the chill out area afterwards too

Luba D.

Yelp
Buyer beware. The spa offers NO refunds once you've booked a service--no matter what. Instead they offer "vouchers" that are good for 10 years or "you can try to sell them to someone" we were told. : - /. When you book a service it's considered a voucher toward that service. After some horrible customer service exchanges prior to our trip and some concerns about the bad reviews we read about long wait times, crowds and group nudity-- my husband and I ended up having a great experience at the spa. We were there September 6-8, 2024. The roof top pool is great--I mean GREAT, expecially at night. We also did the Roman Irish Spa ritual in the morning (in bathing suits and we didn't run into any group nudity) and we loved all 10 stations. (a note: the full body scrub is no more the self-applied clay or chalk that is showered off after a few minutes). Everything is clean. We also booked a Moi and Toi treatment. It was ok but not really worth the price of almost $500. The private room was nice. The snacks were ok. The milk bath kinda nice. The massages were 3 star. (We also felt booted out of the room immediately after the massage) I'd say pass on it. The roof top pool and Roman/ Irish ritual were way more affordable and worth it. If you're staying at the adjacent B2 Hotel--you can get special pricing on the spa facilities--so check with the front desk before you pay full price at the spa.

Yelp
I loved my experience! The reviews were confusing to me, so here is some information that may help others. There are a few different experiences. The rooftop pool is hot and has gorgeous views. Highly recommend and would probably appeal to most. The Roman-Irish baths was a really unique experience for me (a visitor from the US- I've never been to anything like it). I loved the underground charm and the relaxation as I went through the sauna, pools, lay on the warm stones, etc. Check out the pictures on the website- it may not appeal to everyone, but I loved it. I also got a massage, and while I thought it was fantastic, there is once caveat (especially for US women). There was significantly less privacy/more exposure. For example, when I was face up, there was only a folded towel on my crotch and my breasts were exposed. Rooms aren't private, so this could be unnerving for some. I had a fabulous massage and no one else was in my room, but the massage was far more exposed than I expected. So if you are body shy, maybe just stick with the pool/baths where everyone is in swim suits!

What a find! This place was amazing and the perfect way to end our trip in Zurich. The views from the rooftop pool are wonderful.

Yelp
So incredibly relaxing. I usually am very critical of spas as they don't really relax me usually. But this one is truly special. It really sucks you into the soothing ambiance as soon as you step through the spa hallway, very akin to a Miyazaki experience (spirited away much?). The saunas have lovely scents, and the peel soap shower does leave the skin looking and feeling amazing. The hot stones are perfect for stretching out years of knots and stiffness. And concluding in the infinity pool is a surreal experience. While you can't see the lake, you do get a view of pretty much every other part of the city and the alps off in the distance. Also, big surprise, the restaurant is delicious. I was starving so order a little and was surprised how good it tasted. Highly recommend the hot chicken panini, the ratatouille quiche, and ginger boost. Had to finish it off with chocolate mousse and cappuccino and let me tell you, that mousse is better than anything you can get in the US. Stunningly delicious. And then back to the spa. So relaxing with the bubbles, you relax feeling like royalty. And if you do it right, you leave the spa without a worry in the world. Bring you swimwear, everything else is provided. Very convenient wrist key (electronic) that also is used to pay at the restaurant. If you're a local you likely already know. If a tourist then give it a shot. It's quite nicely decadent. And very very clean.

Yelp
"So, what's the 5 year plan?" I spit out my spa water. It must've been the stunning backdrop of the Swiss Alps or the steam rising out of the heated rooftop pool that's clouding his vision, but whatever it is, this man wants to have babies with me. Due to a previous not so successful domestic partnership, I thread carefully. I smile and then said, "Hmm. You tell me." I heard marriage before carriage, then somehow, we'll magically afford to buy property in the pricey confines of California. In between our musings, we both look into each other's eyes and believe we can have it all. Because when you've spent the last hour breathing in the pristine Swiss air and soaking in the spa's thermal water, you too shall be relaxed and rejuvenated. It'll foster some deep conversations with your loved ones and/or friends. The spa's mineral rich thermal water is drawn from the "aqui" springs, deep beneath the city of Zurich. The warm water will soothe tired muscles and release any tension you may have: physically, mentally and emotionally. For 34 CHF (+4 for towel rental) you'll have a day pass to enjoy the converted Hurlimann brewery's vaulted stone walls, a clean dressing area with lockers, bubbling thermal baths, dry sauna and the serene wading pool. You can refuel with healthful salads or tasty treats at their bistro just before you hit the rooftop pool. The best time to come is at sunset. Although you won't be alone at the pool, the sun's rays will cast a fiery glow on all the beauty around you, your mouth will be hanging open the whole time in disbelief that there's SO MUCH to explore in this world. Travel. That's part of the 5 year plan too. * For my sweetie, Sebastian F. thank you for asking all the important questions in life * P.S. Yelp is not a dating site.

Yelp
This place has me longing to get back to Zurich as soon as possible. I cannot tell you how much I love this place! I was a guest at the B2 Hotel where this is located and I absolutely loved my experience. Being able to wake up in the morning and be the first one on the roof, all alone, staring at the stunning views of Zurich is truly one of the most magical experiences you could ever have. The rooftop pool is truly an experience! Two stories below the hotel lies the rest of the spa, with other thermal baths and a Roman bathing experience. The pools are large, relaxing, and peaceful. They have one day a week dedicated to women so that one part of the pools is just for the ladies...FUN! It was a bit difficult for me to figure out the bathing ritual experience due to the signs not being in English. No fear, the staff was able to point out to this idiot that there were actually numbers on each sign so that all patrons were able to go from spot-to-spot in the correct order. So thankful for them! I will ABSOLUTELY be going back the next time I am in Zurich.

Yelp
This spa is situated up on a hill overlooking the city of Zürich. Now why have I never come here before? I'm glad I finally made it up here after 4 years of living in Zürich. CHF 32 gives you access to the general spa area, or you can pay CHF 55 for the Irish-Roman bath and luxury service. The standard spa area was already very awesome, so there was no need to shell out any more for additional pampering. Everything was beautiful, serene, and spacious. The ladies changing room had ample space and hangers to hang up your coats and leave your shoes. Large mirrors and hairdryers lined the middle, and there was a sink to the side. We checked out the indoor pool and admired all the stone walls from the old brewery, went to the shallow indoor pool in the other room--where I discovered that you could hear music if you put your ears under water, checked out the steam room/sauna, and then went upstairs to enjoy the rooftop pool outside. It was really cold outside, so I kept dipping my head under water to keep warm. There were bubbles along the edges, but the pool was kind of crowded, so I couldn't always access all the bubbles. The view from the roof was pretty awesome, but once again, quite crowded when we went. This is a fantastic place, and I'm glad I checked it out. Would love to come back again one day. P.S. Friday night is date night, with couples making out all over the place... P.P.S. Unlike some other spas I've been to, this place is NOT nude, so you get to keep your bathing suit on in the sauna. P.P.P.S. Bring your own towel, so you don't have to pay to rent one. And the storage lockers take CHF 2 coins.

Yelp
This has got to be the coolest thing my husband and I did in Zurich. We arrived about 13:00 and bought the day pass, giving us access to the heated indoor jacuzzi-type pools and the thermal outdoor, rooftop pool. We spent several hours in the thermal outdoor pool enjoying the heat on a cold night the beautiful view of the city. Thermalbad & Spa also has a cool cafe area for drinks and food. Lockers, towels, showers, and hairdryers are available! We would definitely come back here!

Yelp
absolutely magical! had a lovely time, i felt sooo relaxed after!! if i'm ever in zurich again, i'd love to return!

Yelp
Hot tub rooftop views of Zurich- YES PLEASE! This is a completely worthwhile experience. Spend the money and time to enjoy this place. I would take advantage of being able to relax, plan a meal, and thoroughly enjoy each offering of this spa. The price is relatively cheap in comparison to other spa experiences in Zurich so I would encourage everyone to make this happen if you have a few hours to relax. At the cafe they serve quality food and have excellent teas and coffee. The cafe space is well planned for relaxation and privacy. Upon check-in they give you a RFID bracelet you keep on you to charge everything you need including being able to access your locker so that was very convenient as opposed to bringing money or your card around. I paid for the extra Roman Spa experience which is basically an area that only people who have paid for it have access to. It is worth it because of that alone- the 7 step treatments is not really noteworthy but the private jacuzzi pools and the fact that there are way less people make it worth it. They also have a mini cafe serving just the Roman Spa patrons. The spa is very clean and I especially enjoyed the mediation pool. There are several workers allocated to this area so when there are loud guests it does not take long for a staff member to ask them to keep quiet so everyone can get back to peace and quiet. The rooftop jacuzzi is the piece-de-resistance for this establishment. You are outdoors in fresh cool air, on the roof, overlooking beautiful Zurich while relaxing in a super jetted huge hot tub!! You won't find this anywhere else in Zurich! The only problem is you are NOT allowed to take any photos. The staff AND other patrons actually enforce this so better not to try as I saw a few patrons reprimanded for attempting to do so. My suggestion for the company is you allow for a specific time (maybe golden hour!?) for patrons to take their commemorative rooftop pics. It will also do wonders for your marketing from a social-media aspects! Lastly, you get a special locker/ changing room if you pay for the Roman Spa experience. This is a nice feature however this locker room is CO-ED and the showers do not have locks -their just swinging doors people can walk in on. This typically would not be a problem, however I did have the awkward experience of one of the other patrons aggressively hitting on me and then having to deal with that in the dressing room afterwards was something I would have rather have to deal with. The website and reviews really do not reflect this experience accurately. ZURICH THERMALBAD SPA IS the BEST spa experience in town!!

Yelp
The view in the rooftop bath is just so beautiful. We spend more than an hour just enjoying the views. The water's not too hot, the baths below are okay. Steam room's very good. We went here after a 3 day hiking trip in the Alps, so this was most welcome! People suck, though. When it was mentioned explicitly to each one of them to not take photos, they still did. They'd sneak their phones in and ruin it for everyone. Afterall, did they really go if there's no photographic evidence?

Yelp
Easily my favorite part of Zurich. Located next to a google campus, this spa is amazing. My husband and I paid a little extra to have our own private changing locked room where we could store our stuff. We also paid extra for the Roman Bath experience which was amazing. You go through a series of steps in the ritual. They don't have any signs in English, so before had we had tried to memorize the amount of time in each ritual (they have Roman numerals so you can figure out which ones to do in which order, it was the amount of time that got tricky). Once we were done there we went to the roof top where we were treated to probably the best view in Zurich. We had read the tripadvisor reviews which said that people have a lot of public displays of affection which was true, but we eventually found our own spot where we could turn our backs on the making out couples and look out over the city. Then we went down to do the other hot tubs including the giant tubs that looked like giant wood barrels and our favorite room, the relaxation shallow room. We were able to walk there from our hotel and not get to lost, and it was an amazing experience which I highly recommend.

Yelp
The spa portion is bigger. That was the selling point to the confused American. Shame on me for not looking at their website more recently. At least the Irish Roman (strange juxtaposition) portion also includes the baths. Fortunately, it wasn't too much a cost upgrade. Anyway, this place is amazing. It's inside a former brewery. The stone vaults are stunning especially with the light reflecting off the moving water. There are three baths you can move between. Each bath has several areas with different powered and height leveled jetstreams. There are also randomly placed semi-closed areas for couples (poorly described, yes, so get there yourself). There is also a darkened meditation pool with underwater music, steam bath, and most impressively.... the rooftop bath. There's nothing quite like enjoying warm water when light rain dances on your head. The spa portion is quite nice also, moving you from heated saunas to baths to private exfoliating areas. It is like a mini-vacation. There are also smaller rooms where you can enjoy a small snack and other refreshments. Like the cold toned service person downstairs said frigidly: "we need to see your receipt". This was to another guest, but I can't imagine saving a receipt amongst your wet clothes. Perhaps in your robe? And to Miss Frosty, if we're supposed to bring our rented towels (4 CHF each) back to you, please tell us when we first get them or post signs. As you can tell from my tone, she was a downer.

Yelp
The Thermalbad & Spa has a really cool location in a former brewery, with lovely decor. I have only been to the basic area, not to the Irish-Roman baths. After paying and entering, there are pleasant fountains on the way to the locker rooms. On the first floor following the changing rooms and lockers, there are showers and a kid's pool area. On the second floor, there are three connected warm pools, with different types of jets/areas. There is also a steam room, a relaxation-music pool, foot baths, and showers. On the upper levels, there is a cafe and then access to the rooftop open-air bath - don't miss this part! It is quite popular in the evenings, particularly on the roof, so time your visit accordingly. Also, they close at 10p, but start shutting down parts of the spa a bit earlier (e.g., the steam room). I hear the Irish-Roman area has saunas, but I would have appreciated a sauna in the other section, given that there is a steam room. Remember: towel rental is 4CHF, so bring your own. Lockers need a 2 CHF coin (refundable). Bring your bathing suit - no naked times here!

Yelp
Love this place. Amazing roof top pool! Great massage! Got treated by my sweetest bf for a whole package of treatments, including thermal baths, steam sauna, body wrap, rooftop jacuzzi and Swiss massage. Feel like the luckiest person on earth!
google avatar

Alexandre M.

Yelp
On the plus side, this is a unique place in Zurich, the view from the rooftop is great, the inside is very classy and design and you get to do some people watching. On the down side: this is a pricey attraction; the basic entry is limited to a too little area only, so you have to take the entire Romish area, which doesn't come cheap. It is frequently crowded so avoid by all means the usual peak hours (evenings and weekend from late morning)
google avatar

Jme G.

Yelp
Mmmm, so relaxing and it's right in the city. Come at sunset, and you're view is SO pretty! The rooftop pool isn't too terribly warm, but the location is great- so the people swarm. They also have a pool for mediation and quiet, and an herbal steam room- you HAVE to try it! Mostly other couples is what we did see, so take a significant other rather than friend or family. They also have snacks and drinks just in case, even the beer they used to brew in that place. They close at 10, but the pools close before, so be done by 9:30 to get the full tour!
google avatar

Adriana T.

Yelp
Awesome/clean place with the best views of Zurich. Staff are friendly and the locker rooms provide hair dryers, bags for your wet bathing suits, etc. The rooftop jet pool is really cool at night especially when its colder out. Bring your own towel to save some money.
google avatar

Chere L.

Yelp
The Roman Pools were really perfect, and so relaxing and beautiful inside. The massage was, pretty good from a technique point of view, but you are in a big room that is draped so you might hear others - which detracts from the experience. The pool on top is really cool, but it's quite small. And the entryway needs some work to make it more high end. All in all, it was just a-okay but a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon when everything else to closed in Zurich.
google avatar

Bianca O.

Yelp
I really enjoy the Thermalbad & Spa at Huerlimann Areal. Probably the best view of Zurich from the rooftop pool. I mostly go for the water (again, rooftop pool is a must), so I prefer that over the actual 'spa' part. I've done the regular entrance and the Roman-Irish baths, so if you want to indulge a little more, go for the Roman-Irish. I've had a massage there (the herb pressing one) and it was ok, but definitely not the best I've had. Worth experiencing!
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Love this beautiful and oh so relaxing thermalbad and spa. The view from the rooftop pool is amazing! You can see the skyline of Zurich, and is so wonderful by both day and night. Very centrally located and a great place to take visiting guests, when they love wellness! For basic admittance, you pay CHF 32 / person, with the Irish-Roman bath, it's 55 CHF. Highly recommend!

Amanda M.

Yelp
While the vibe is lovely and the rooftop view is stunning, there is NO hot water anywhere. The water was lukewarm when we went, which ruined the whole experience for me.

Laura R.

Yelp
Awesome spa! Great relaxing time, every time. Only negative is that sometimes it gets very crowded.
