"Chic Cinema Overnight Stay in San Sebastián The Astoria7 hotel is one of the few spots in town with character. With Hollywood stars as its leitmotif (in homage to the San Sebastián Film Festival), each room is dedicated to a different actor. Comfortable, modern and clean, and with a lovely lobby area and restaurant/bar, Astoria7 is a great option in San Sebastian. The only downside is its location, a good 20 minute walk from the beach and the old part."

"Star-Studded Cocktails in the Astoria7 The Hotel Astoria 7 is one of the city's most emblematic hotels, with perhaps the best sense of humor. In December of 2015, they inaugurated a new cocktail bar led by Patxi Troitiño, a local barman who also happens to be the winner of the best Gin & Tonic in Spain in 2015. At the charming bar in the corner of the hotel's ground floor, you can try traditional and daring cocktails. Make sure to order the award winning gin & tonic. In his free time, the maestro's latest project has been to design six cocktails for Netflix based around their original series. ¡Action!"

"Built on the foundations of San Sebastián’s iconic Astoria movie theater, this sleek and modern hotel is all about Hollywood. The lively lobby library—a retro-inspired lounge often filled with laptop-toting freelancers—has a wall of DVDs available to borrow and is plastered with black-and-white portraits of movie stars, while each room is themed to a different film-industry heavyweight who attended the San Sebastián International Film Festival since it started in 1953. Even the restaurants—popular gourmet spots frequented by discerning locals—are adorned with cinema-themed artwork and accents, and one of the meeting rooms can be transformed into a private theater upon request, complete with cinema-style seating. Outside the front door, the view, too, is cinematic. Astoria7 isn’t right in the tourist-heavy old town, but rather on a leafy boulevard in a part of town where locals actually live. It's a 15-minute stroll to the iconic La Concha Beach, whose golden crescent is the dream of every urban beach babe and touring photographer. So, put on those sunglasses and take in the views."

Zinema7 (San Sebastian, Basque Country) 8 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"San Sebastián is an underratedly glamorous city, especially in September, during film festival season. It’s this connection that Zinema7 trades on, and the large-format film-star portraits in the guest rooms are only the most conspicuous example — locals will remember that one of the city’s iconic golden-age cinemas once stood on this very site." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel Zinema7 | Best places to stay in San Sebastian

"Inspired by San Sebastián’s famous film festival, this stylish boutique hotel is set in a former cinema, with movie-inspired décor and affordable room rates. Each of its large, quiet rooms – with super-comfy beds – is dedicated to a different film star or director who has appeared at the festival. Continuing the arts theme, there’s a great media room with books and DVDs to borrow, with players in every room. The hotel has a  good restaurant, Bistoreka, and serves a breakfast buffet, but you’re better off heading to the adjacent café, where you can order what you fancy. It’s worth noting that the hotel is a fair old hike from the centre of town and the beaches – about a 20-minute walk, albeit along a pretty riverside path. But you’re staying in an authentic residential area, with cheaper shops and restaurants than those in the city centre. There’s an onsite garage, a bus stop is across the street and the train station is within walking distance. " - Dana Facaros

The hotel was very walkable to the city centre and the old town. However, it is also in front of a bus stop that takes you to the best food spots in town. Christian and Myriam at the front desk were welcoming and amazing. They shared great restaurant recommendations. The rooms are spacious and clean. The cafe downstairs has a great tortilla de patatas and service. Would a 100% stay here again.

Service was good. Cafe snacks-restaurant downstairs is good. ||Breakfast was OK but can feel crowded and too noisy. Fair value breakfast.||We had a premium room which was spacious, well furnished, good internet and had good sound insulation from neighboring rooms. The only drawbacks : only a small window, no kettle and a bed which is very firm (you can ask for a mattress topper, which helps a tiny little bit, i.e. from extra firm to firm). Location is fairly good, easy buses (just tap your credit card) to city centre every few minutes. A few basic shops/cafes close by. ||Aircon worked well and was fairly discreet by hotel standard. but was just really on/off- adjusting the temperature had little or no effect, i.e. about 22 to 23 C.||Note: street facing rooms - you'll hear a little bit of traffic noise but will have have a decent outlook. Courtyard rooms: can't hear any outside noise. but you really have nothing to look at at except some fairly ugly building.||

This review concerns a 4-star hotel, where one naturally expects high standards of service. The facilities and room quality were fairly good. The bedding was not particularly remarkable. There was no interesting view from the room window. We also had some trouble adjusting the water temperature in the shower. The staff were very pleasant, and the breakfast was decent.

The drive down to this area was a culmination of a chance stay in San Sebastián and the idea to indulge ourselves in the city and its culture that being its difference and culture. The food places didn’t disappoint, well we didn’t go wrong . We tried the Instagram places but these were rammed so moved on although went into these in January but it was to busy this time . It’s a walking place so we just parked in an underground carpark close to the hotel and left it for a few days and used our feet .||The hotel does have a car park and it say parking on trip advisor but it has to be reserved. It seems like it’s busy so make sure you reserve a spot with the hotel if it’s required and it does seem like there’s 3xcars to a parking space . ||The staff at the hotel were warm , welcoming and polite. Room was a first floor room and a bit noisy but tolerable ( was a commeration on for the sacking of the city , napoleon wars )so may have been this and it was very clean. It’s a mile and half to the town centre, so about 25minute but there’s a few bars coffee stops along the way so not that bad

Zinema7 hotel was a genuine experience during our stay in San Sebastian. Interior design is so elegant full of cinematic themes. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Small treats they gave us after checking in the room was delightful. Our bed was so comfortable and rooms are spacius enough. Breakfast was also very varied and delicious. Location is a bit far from city center but there are bus stops right across the hotel and you can find a bus every 5 minutes so it is not a big deal. All around, I strongly recommend Zinema7 hotel.

Zinema 7 is a good quality clean hotel just out of the city centre (but with an easy bus to Old Town which takes 7 - 10 minutes - stop right outside). Each room is based on a film star or producer, and is suitably quirky. Breakfast is excellent and the bar doubles as a cafeteria used by many locals so prices are reasonable. Would strongly recommend as a base for exploring San Sebastián

A bit far from the old town but still walking distance to everywhere. Friendly staff and super clean room. We ordered cot for our little one, they brought great big cot with even cot bumper and lovely pillow and duvet. They also put special shampoo and shower gel and a toy for our little one. It was so thoughtful. They also offered 2 drinks as a complimentary. Thank you guys. Loved stay in this hotel.

Everything was okay except for the beds, which is why I gave it 2 stars. I’m not sure how a hotel can be 4 stars while providing very cheap mattresses. They are so firm that after the first night my partner and I couldn’t sleep on our sides because they felt bruised. And therefore didn’t have the best sleep for the entirety of our trip. I’ve been in lower ranked hotels with comfier beds. May have been a one off due to it being close to check in time and may have not known we already got the room. but my partner and I were napping and one of the staff just walked in… They were dropping off treats, which is nice, but didn’t really appreciate that they didn’t check to see that we had the room nor considered that we were in it before walking in. While the location is kind of a lengthy walk to do every day to the old town, the bus connections are great and easy enough to navigate. Also very close to a hop-on hop-off bus tour stop which we used as our source of travel around for a day. Due to the terrible bed situation I can’t recommend staying here. Also, based off of reviews like mine from the past couple years, it doesn’t seem like they’ll acquire nicer mattresses any time soon.
