"Chic Cinema Overnight Stay in San Sebastián The Astoria7 hotel is one of the few spots in town with character. With Hollywood stars as its leitmotif (in homage to the San Sebastián Film Festival), each room is dedicated to a different actor. Comfortable, modern and clean, and with a lovely lobby area and restaurant/bar, Astoria7 is a great option in San Sebastian. The only downside is its location, a good 20 minute walk from the beach and the old part."

"Star-Studded Cocktails in the Astoria7 The Hotel Astoria 7 is one of the city's most emblematic hotels, with perhaps the best sense of humor. In December of 2015, they inaugurated a new cocktail bar led by Patxi Troitiño, a local barman who also happens to be the winner of the best Gin & Tonic in Spain in 2015. At the charming bar in the corner of the hotel's ground floor, you can try traditional and daring cocktails. Make sure to order the award winning gin & tonic. In his free time, the maestro's latest project has been to design six cocktails for Netflix based around their original series. ¡Action!"

"Built on the foundations of San Sebastián’s iconic Astoria movie theater, this sleek and modern hotel is all about Hollywood. The lively lobby library—a retro-inspired lounge often filled with laptop-toting freelancers—has a wall of DVDs available to borrow and is plastered with black-and-white portraits of movie stars, while each room is themed to a different film-industry heavyweight who attended the San Sebastián International Film Festival since it started in 1953. Even the restaurants—popular gourmet spots frequented by discerning locals—are adorned with cinema-themed artwork and accents, and one of the meeting rooms can be transformed into a private theater upon request, complete with cinema-style seating. Outside the front door, the view, too, is cinematic. Astoria7 isn’t right in the tourist-heavy old town, but rather on a leafy boulevard in a part of town where locals actually live. It's a 15-minute stroll to the iconic La Concha Beach, whose golden crescent is the dream of every urban beach babe and touring photographer. So, put on those sunglasses and take in the views."

Wonderful hotel. We returned after 15 years and it still looks brand new. Excellent Nespresso coffee machine in the room makes for a great start of the day. And we found a complimentary chocolate heart and some nuts with a Valentine's greeting card on our bed unexpectedly. Such a great surprise. And the staff was wonderful too. A bit of a walk from the city centre, but not a problem as you at least burn some calories from awesome food downtown.

The hotel itself is nice, but the staff left much to be desired. During check-in, my partner and I (we are two men) kindly asked if there was space available for parking. The response was a curt “no.” I then inquired if there might be availability over the next two days, and the reply was simply, “We are fully booked.” While I understand that availability can be limited, the tone felt unnecessarily dismissive and unfriendly. We were assigned Room 104, which is close to the street. I politely asked if it might be possible to have a quieter room, as I am noise-sensitive. Again, the response was abrupt and unaccommodating, leaving me with the impression that guest comfort wasn’t a priority. I couldn’t help but feel there was a lack of warmth or willingness to assist us during these interactions. Unfortunately, my concerns about the noise proved valid. The room was noisy, and I could hear traffic from the street throughout the night. I struggled to sleep, which affected my overall experience. While I understand not every request can be met, a little empathy or effort to find a solution would have made a significant difference. Would I book this hotel again? Unfortunately, no. Would I recommend it? Also, no. While the facilities were fine, the unwelcoming attitude of the staff left a lasting negative impression, and I couldn’t help but feel that we were not treated with the same respect or courtesy as other guests.

This is a wonderful, quirky hotel about 15 minutes walk from the Old Town of San Sebastián. As the city is famed for its annual Film Festival, and the hotel is on the site of an old cinema, so the hotel is film-themed. I stayed in the Robert Mitchum suite, a friend was delighted to spend the night with Gina Lolligibrigida. You get the drift.||The staff were excellent, English is spoken and help on-hand whenever needed. Bar area and breakfast were excellent, Wi-Fi strong everywhere and the rooms and corridors very clean. It is highly recommended!

Good hotel in great location, within walking distance of old town or regular bus service from right outside. Well serviced, plenty of help when we needed to change the original booked date & with minor problems fixed immediately during our stay. Great breakfast - the eggs were some of the best I’ve ever had. Cafe attached not so good, overpriced for fairly grim food.

Stayed here with 2 kids. We had adjoining rooms which were really comfortable and a good size. About a 30 minute walk to the heart of the old town. Didn’t have breakfast as part of our stay, but the hotel has a separate public cafe which was great value for breakfast.

Excellent hotel and staff. Perfectly Clean. A little out of town, but the bus stop across the road is perfect and accepts card, so no need to purchase any specific tickets at shops or online.

Efficient reception, comfortable rooms, interesting themed decor, good buffet breakfast. Location 20 mins from centre, walkable, but made even more convenient by excellent bus service from right outside the hotel to the middle of the old town: €1.85 flat rate. Only negative was cafe bar could use more space in evenings. Bar manager early in week refused use of restaurant tables to supplement space, but manager later in week had no such problem: 8/10 more tables = more income!||City is an excellent all round destination with food outstanding. Interesting Basque museum and take trips to local towns, which are picturesque and interesting.

Loved our stay here, about a 10 minute walk from the train station. Staff was helpful and flexible. Do not overlook the guestbook, the restaurant guide for pintxos was consistent with the research I'd done about the best spots for each local specialty! The DVD selection and in-room player was a unique addition that was worth taking advantage of.
