"What started as an outback resort known as Wrotham Park Station in far north Queensland was bought by Indigenous Business Australia , dismantled, and loaded on 18 triple road trains (each roughly the length of three semi trucks) for the journey 1,740 miles across rain forest and desert to the Northern Territory's Mary River Wetlands, about an hour and a half from Darwin, adjacent to Kakadu National Park. Safari tents from Kenya were added to the modern “Habitats” and restaurant and bar to complete the immersive Australian wilderness retreat. Like the world’s best safari camps, Wildman Wilderness Lodge has a spacious wooden deck with an infinity pool and daybed-style lounge chairs that encircle a fire pit. This is the place to watch the sun set and look for the area’s wallabies, dingoes, water buffalo, wild pigs, native birds, and two resident saltwater crocodiles known as Big Arse and Fat Arse. The Mary River Wetlands are known for having the highest concentration of saltwater crocodiles in the world, and the lily-studded floodplains are prime habitat for barramundi, which the restaurant often cooks for dinner. Open March through November, the lodge treads lightly on the landscape and is culturally connected to the native Limilngan, Unwynmil, and Wulna people, who have lived in the area for thousands of years."

Very nice start to our 4 week tour through the NT and the Kimberley's. Accommodation and the pool were really nice. There weren't many kids but those who were, ruled the place. I wonder what it's like during school holidays... Service a bit spotty - they were trying and some of the staff were great but you can tell that it's a diverse group of people and some are only staying for a short period of time. Food was good.

Stayed here for one night which was probably long enough unless you are looking to escape for a longer period of relaxation. Lovely 'tented' accommodation, spacious, nice big comfortable bed. Included evening meal was lovely. Breakfast was nice. Went on the sunrise billabong cruise and saw some beautiful birds and plenty of freshwater and estuarine crocodiles.

Wildman Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful place to stay. Located in the midst of Mary River National Park, this ‘glamping’ experience is something special. You wake with the sites and sounds of this amazing part of Australia, the accommodation wonderful and the staff really friendly. Breakfast and dinner is included and they were both amazing! I loved this place! The pool is wonderful as you watch the wallabies jump passed. It is from here you get to the amazing Kakadu! There are things that could make it better: just little things - but in the scheme of the experience, you tend to forget them!

This is great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the NT up close. It’s a relatively close drive from Darwin. My Wife and I stayed there over Easter weekend and really enjoyed getting out of Darwin and being pampered by staff at the lodge. We booked the room with aircon since it was still pretty hot, but the tents look like the way to go during the dry season. We will be back for sure.

Booked the safari tentage for 2 adults and 2 kids. The inclusive Dinner was excellent and of a good class restaurant grade comprising of a choice of entree, main and dessert. Service level of the restaurant staff was excellent and so are the staff in the other parts of the resort.. Easy driving on a two-wheel drive approx 2.5 hrs fr Darwin city with well-marked signages and mostly sealed roads. (Using a 2 wheel drive vehicle) The airboat experience was an eye opener and should try it if budget allows. Overall was great!

The staff at the lodge were friendly and extremely helpful. It was a bit of a last minute trip so we had not planned our full itinerary. I mentioned this to Lisa and she helped us call Adelaide cruises (jumping crocodiles) to check their schedule times and even suggested where we could go for lunch after the cruise for one of our days. Given the price of the accommodation, I wouldn't expect anything less. We booked the cabin after reading reviews online about the tent being too hot. Upon arrival we were very happy with this decision, the cabin has air conditioning and makes a huge difference during the day especially. Also by night there is an abundance of local wildlife (mainly insects and the occasional frog) that are attracted to the light. So unless you really are looking for a full on experience with nature, the tent may not be for you. A word of advice is to ensure you turn off all the lights in the cabin when you go out for your daily adventure so that you do not return at night with an unimaginable number of insects plastered on your cabin windows waiting to fly into your room upon sliding open the cabin doors. (Trust me it's not the best feeling to inhale half a can of insect spray for something that is so easily preventable!) The quality and variety of food served at the restaurant could be better and the dishes took way too long to come out of the kitchen. For dinner, our lamb was over cooked to the point where it was extremely tough and hard to swallow (we were however offered a replacement). The water buffalo (the special whilst we were there) was the only dish on the menu which was worth calling out. The hotel also likes to have their windows open for the dinner service, I don't understand why as the dining area gets too warm and you end up getting insects flying around your food (and even into it) whilst you are eating dinner. The only option you have is to ask to have your dinner served to you in the bar which is air conditioned as closed off. Activities: - The home billabong cruise (included in stay) was nice and relaxing though you get to see much more wildlife on the airboat. - The wetlands airboat (additional cost - expensive!) through the wetlands was great, we opted for the 90mins ride which wasn't cheap but worth doing if you're willing to splurge a bit. - Full day Kakadu tour (included in stay) - enjoyable, we had a very knowledgeable guide so learnt a lot about the history of the land. I'd say the trip was more cultural than scenic. Other info: - Getting there: we rented a car at the airport. From the airport to Wildman is around a 2 hour drive. It only actually takes half an hour to get to Wildman once you turn into Point Stuart Road from Arnhem Highway despite what google maps may tell you - There is next to no mobile reception at the lodge. They do however have wifi in the main lodge area for you to use. - Make sure before you visit to check what season you are visiting. Dry season is the only time that a lot of the driving trails in Kakadu are accessible.

We loved spending Easter weekend out at Wildman. The accomodations were absolutely lovely. We stayed in an Eco lodge, it was a gorgeous room with a wonderful view. The staff were very friendly, and went out of there way to make sure were had fun. The soup every night at dinner was the best part about the food. The lodge runs completely off the grid which is pretty impressive, you can tell why it’s pricey when you see what an operation it is. That being said I think for the price the breakfast needs to be a bit better. Also, there is a bar area with air conditioning. There was tons of kids in the bar area over Easter because it was soooo hot. While this is ok, I think it would be good if they had a game room and a bar area that were both air conditioned. This way they can have games, maybe billiards or something and a bar for adults. I think it would make sense because it’s both a family place and obviously a place for couples.

Once you get here you really start to enjoy this part of Australia. The service is great. Food is very nice. Tours available are very informative. And sitting in the pool watching the wallaby and birds is top notch.
