I truly wanted to enjoy this restaurant, but unfortunately our experience was deeply disappointing and uncomfortable.
On Christmas evening, my family and I — a party of four — were seated in the outdoor area where the tables were still wet from the rain. We politely asked if we could be seated indoors. The waitress informed us that all indoor tables were reserved, despite there being at least three large tables completely empty inside.
After she wiped our outdoor table, she did not return for nearly 15 minutes. During that time, we observed her actively attending to surrounding tables while we were left waiting without being offered drinks or appetizers.
What was most concerning is that we later saw two guests being seated at one of the same indoor tables we had been told was “reserved.” This raised serious concerns for us, especially because they were seated at a table meant for six.
When we asked for clarification, the waitress denied having told us the indoor seating was reserved, which further added to the frustration and confusion.
My husband’s family is Belizean, and we have visited Placencia many times over the years. We have never experienced treatment like this at any other establishment in the area. Before leaving, we informed the attending supervisor of what occurred, yet no apology or acknowledgment was offered.
Sadly, this is not the type of hospitality Placencia is known for. Based on our experience, we will not be returning and cannot recommend Wendy’s Creole Food.
