Weather Up is a hidden speakeasy in Prospect Heights where craft cocktails flow amidst golden lighting, cozy seating, and a relaxed vibe perfect for conversation.
"Pssst - we want to tell you about a secret place. A place that, if you’re not careful, you’ll walk right past. Behind this discreet, signless facade is a gorgeous speakeasy serving killer cocktails. Step inside Weather Up and take in the stunning interior – golden lighting, exposed brick, vaulted ceilings covered in white subway tile and a copper clad bar. It’s like a dream. The bartenders here are true mixologists, they can make any drink from the 1800s to present day. WHOA. This bar is usually crowded, but for good reason, and no one minds getting cozy in this tiny, beautiful space. Our favorite libations are The “La Nina” (White Rum, Fresh Lime, Vanilla & Strawberry Shrub, Mint, Slush) and the classic “Old Fashioned”. Or for true adventure, ask for the “Bartender’s Choice”!" - Aki Carpenter & Chris Huban
"Weather Up is the closest thing to a Death & Co in Prospect Heights. It’s a discreet little cocktail bar with fancy ice cubes and fancier bartenders. If all you want is a relatively quiet drink, come here. The cocktails are excellent, and the odds are slim that anyone will puke on your shoes. Bring a date. It’s a good place to sit and talk." - bryan kim
"When someone asks us to recommend a bar in Tribeca with elaborate drinks, we send them to Weather Up. (There's a location in Prospect Heights, too.) Their creative house cocktails have ingredients like beet, apricot, and coconut, and they also serve a handful of wines and beers. Bring a bunch of friends, sample each other's drinks, and impose your opinion about each one on the bartender even though they didn't ask. The dimly-lit space is large and has a long bar and lots of booths, so groups are pretty common here. You'll also see pairs having drinks after paying their checks at nearby restaurants. Eating beforehand is actually a good idea, because this place only serves snacks like nuts and olives." - Kenny Yang
"Weather Up is the best cocktail bar in Prospect Heights. It’s a small room on Vanderbilt Avenue without a sign outside (look for a door and push), and one of the few storefronts in the area with no natural lighting inside. They serve everything from an Old Fashioned with mezcal to 200-milliliter Negroni flasks you can take with you on a stroll to the Prospect Park Boathouse." - nikko duren
"White subway tiles, a relaxed bar, and great music sum up this bar in Prospect Heights, worth traveling to for a drink (or many). Another bonus? You can still hear yourself speak. To make a night of it, grab dinner at The Vanderbilt, a very solid, lively restaurant across the street. There's another outpost in Tribeca."
