"Sandwiches are the name of the game at Giugni’s, a small takeout-only deli in St. Helena that’s been around for almost 20 years. You can customize your sandwich with things like honey smoked turkey or pastrami - just be sure to get an extra side of Giugni Juice, an herby, olive oil-based dressing that you should pour all over your sandwich. Order ahead if you’re on a tight schedule as the lunch rush line can get long." - julia chen 1

"If you’re in need of a sandwich, this St. Helena institution is where you want to be. Giugni’s is every bit the old-timey country store you’d expect in a small town, with shelves filled with classic candies, a couple of tables, and a very busy takeout operation. There are no fancy designer sandwiches here: it’s a build-your-own situation with an extensive list of meats, cheeses, and add-ons. The only mandatory move is the tangy Giugni Juice, (a secret sauce with herbs and a red wine vinegar base) with a cult following that gets poured liberally on top of every sandwich—although we prefer it on the side to avoid them getting soggy, especially if we’re taking them on the road." - christina julian

"This Italian deli has been serving build-your-own sandwiches since the 1970s. Pick your bread base (we recommend the dutch crunch roll), and then take your pick from the endless meat, cheese, and fixings choice, including “Giugni juice”, the deli’s famous homemade balsamic vinaigrette, which we suggest adding to anything and everything you order. Arrive before 11am or call ahead to order, as the line can be long, and remember to bring cash. Photo @whatgraceeats"

This place is a classic. It’s not cheap but it’s fresh and good. Their onion bread and smoked Gouda cheese is *chefs kiss* and the Guigni juice is literally some of the best sandwich “sauce” of all time. So good. Old school messy wall vibes.

This place is a classic little deli! Their sandwiches are always amazing, and they have a wide variety to pick from. I recommend getting Guigni juice on your sandwich. They have tons of other things like drinks, chips, old-time candies/ treats, and my favorite deviled eggs ever.

I’ve been coming here ever since I was a child. Nothing has changed. There aren’t many sandwich spots that can compare. This is the S tier sandwich shop. The atmosphere is amazing filled with unique items all over the wall. Right in the center of St. Helena. Even if you don’t want a sandwich you can always grab a snack.

Can’t take order without phasing out. Lack of interest. Order wrong after laborious failed attempt to communicate. Employees and owners just standing around “annoyed” that someone is ordering sandwiches. An employee sweeping floor behind counter where sandwiches being made stirring up floor dirt and trash; they are oblivious to ‘clean food preparation area’. THIS IS NOT THE OLD GIUGNI’S; the new owners and employees, after multiple visits since they bought the place, Just do not care….23 dollars for a sandwich inedible and rude, detached and lost owners and employees. Not going back. Nor will my fellow coworkers in the area. We have all had similar experiences. GIUGNI’S may be the name on the sign, but this place is not what we know…..this is about how little we can work, how much we can charge and an attitude WE DON’T CARE IF YOU COME BACK OR NOT….plenty of other options, so your wish is granted……and since I’ve been going to GIUGNI’S for over twenty years…..sad but I feel free of awful atmosphere attitudes and stale sandwiches. The rating is really ZERO.

My profile picture is a Giugni's deli sandwich, which instantly brings back nostalgic memories. Giugni's holds a special place in my heart as I've been visiting every summer for the past 20 years, and each visit has been an absolute delight. However, discovering my gluten sensitivity was heartbreaking because it meant I couldn't enjoy their sandwiches anymore. Thankfully, my excitement was reignited when I learned they offered gluten-free bread, even though it's not as good as the originals. Despite the slight change in aura, possibly due to COVID, walking through that wooden back door, seeing the display of meats and cheese, and being surrounded by snacks and drinks still feels so great. If you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend swinging by Giugni's to grab a sub and experience the nostalgia for yourself!

One of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. All the ingredients were fresh, and service was fast and friendly.

Great sandwich! My wife and I split a sandwich to go. They're very big with tons of meat and cheese options. Must get their special sauce which is kind of like a herby, tangy Italian vinaigrette. Suggest getting sprouts to soak it up.

Sandwich was pretty good, but cost was very high for what you get. Maybe around $15 before any potential upgrades. Drinks were also quite expensive.
