"Have a funky, trendy, and extremely tasty meal at Tricky’s. It too has plenty of shareable plates — the tuna and the razor clams are particularly wonderful — and it also has lots and lots of fantastic cocktails and local wines. Invite friends. Stay as long as they'll let you." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. "Different is the best word to describe Tricky’s, and not in the way your mom would describe your new tattoo. This spot reflects the new international Lisbon, where people from all over the world came for a trip, fell in love with the city, and never left. Head here for things like tortellini with Jerusalem artichokes or octopus with chickpeas, and expect a good time—the vibe is relaxed and fun, and the music is cheesy in a way that you’ll actually enjoy. After your meal, venture out to the bars in Cais do Sodré." - rita geraldes

Cannot rate or recommend highly enough. I dined solo but was sat at the kitchen bar, which was so nice as all of the staff were so welcoming, friendly, informative and accommodating! Really warm and casual atmosphere, but food was out of this world.. I tried as many dishes as I could - aided by the fact that all of the medium plates could be halved (bar the pork neck)! Every single thing I had was incredible and so original, and complex. I asked if everything could be staggered and the order the dishes came in was so perfect, with each dish contrasting the previous. I would find myself smiling and laughing in surprise and pleasure! I would recommend certain plates, but the dishes change regularly and as far as I can tell you can’t go wrong. Drinks and cocktails were also original and wonderfully crafted. Just go! Chat to the staff, ask for recommendations and enjoy. Music also on point.

This was our favourite in Lisbon. It’s relaxed and casual but with a great vibe, fantastic food, fabulous service and with the music to match. We really liked the concept of tasty snacks to start with and then continuing with dishes to share. Our favourites were the kohlrabi taco and the cracker with beef tartar. Cash only. Reservation is essential. Highly recommended

Relaxed but professional service, exciting delicious food, buzzy authentic atmosphere. Recommend a seat at the kitchen bar to watch this talented young brigade going about their business, which is smashing out banger after banger. Bread & octopus oil, beef tartar, tuna taco, octopus on beans, celeriac “burritos” with miso, pork neck (sensational). Tricky’s is the real deal.

100000% recommend. Sit at the chefs counter and watch the kitchen operate. Very very cool experience and unique. Trickys is AMAZING. You have to eat here in Lisbon. The wine selections were amazing as well. Each plate was extremely unique and had so much attention to detail.

COCKROACHES!! Very good food, cocktails and tap beers BUT - service was extremely slow even though very friendly. It’s a sharing concept but gaps of like more than 30mins in between each main is not acceptable. - Restaurant apparently doesn’t accept foreign cards. I’ve not heard that in Europe for 15 years! Credit cards, Maestro or others are not working if it Portuguese. - COCKROACHES!!! Towards the end of our dinner we started to see some cockroaches going around the walls, the kitchen and getting closer and closer to us! There were 5 or 6 different ones we could see and that made us leave very quickly! Restaurant staff seemed used to it and even playing with it by burning these as a game! Not hygienic at all as it’s around the kitchen…

Tricky’s is a highlight of Lisbon. It has a laidback vibe with very friendly staff. We were fortunate enough to walk in and get a table close to the kitchen. Even the chef was chatting with us. The atmosphere is fun and chic without being pretentious. Everybody was lovely. The food is incredible. Small plates, lots of variety. They put a lot of passion into every dish. We had the beef tongue, the tuna, the beef tartare, the nori taco, and the grilled octopus. Everything was worth trying, all delicious and the best most tender grilled octopus I’ve ever had. We also had every dessert, all exceptional. If you only get to go to one restaurant in Lisbon I recommend it be Tricky’s

Honestly one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Tricky’s was superb. We had 2 small dishes / small bites to start which were excellent followed by sharing 3 large dishes. It was the perfect amount of food and we still had plenty of room for desert which was perfect too. Menu highlights were the pork chop, cooked perfectly as well as the beetroot dish. Drinks wise, enjoyed with a west coast IPA & a glass of orange wine. You must go here!
