Upon arrival Trattoria Nervosa was quite busy, however we only had to wait around 10 minutes to receive a table. We were seated downstairs which was right next to the kitchen/ bar, and there was music playing, making the environment quite loud, and difficult to have a conversation in without raising your voice a considerable amount. A few staff members were talking at/ over the bar the entire time we were in the restaurant, and some were speaking with inappropriate language, which wasn't the most professional.
When going to the washroom upstairs, we noticed there were more tables and it was a much quieter, more enjoyable environment.
For an appetizer we got the house made bread, the focaccia was very good, the bread was fluffy and it was sprinkled with the perfect amount of rosemary and salt. However, the sourdough was very very dry. The bread was served with a small dish of good quality olive oil, and balsamic. Due to the style of the dish, I got no balsamic on my bread when it was dipped, but as stated, the olive oil was quality and tasted good on the focaccia.
For the main, we got the Capellini and Mafalde Ai Funghi. If you love goat cheese, you'll enjoy the Capellini, the pasta was al dente and the sauce was good. In addition, my friend is not the biggest fan of goat cheese, therefore, she did not enjoy the dish. In my opinion, the goat cheese did overpowered the sun-dried tomato, however, I like goat cheese, so this was not an issue for me. The Madalde Ai Funghi was also cooked al dente, the sauce was creamy and has a strong mushroom flavour. Both pastas has lovely presentation, and we're very filling.
Overall, they were delicious, and if we were to return, we would much rather be seated upstairs, away from the loud, sometimes unprofessional environment.
