"One of the finest examples of Romantic architecture in Porto, 19th-century Torel Palace stands out from the crowd courtesy of the flamboyant domed skylight which crowns its four storeys. Interiors are no less striking with a beautifully restored grand central staircase, rich stucco work and a library which inspired the hotel’s literary theme; its 24 rooms are named after Portuguese authors. Bedrooms are quirkily different, luxurious and fun with high ceilings and huge windows."

Torel Palace Porto (Porto, Norte) 7 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Torel Palace Porto may be a modern hotel, but the most cursory glance reveals that the building is far from new. The Palacete Campos Navarro dates back to 1861, and was built by a wealthy local family in the then-current Romantic style. It’s a promising canvas for the kind of small luxury hotel that is Torel Boutiques’ specialty, but it took a thorough reimagining at the hands of designer Isabel Sá Nogueira before it could become the extraordinary hotel you see before you today." - Tablet Hotels

Wow — where do I even begin? This hotel is absolutely stunning, with the most welcoming and attentive staff. The breakfast is hands-down the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had, the cocktail bar is incredible, and the location couldn’t be more perfect — walking distance to all of Porto’s major attractions. On a more personal note, my husband became severely ill on our last night in Porto. He was extremely sick, and we were scheduled to fly out at 5 a.m. I went down to the concierge around 1 a.m., expecting to be directed to a hospital or ambulance. Instead, they calmly told me they could have a physician come directly to our room — which was such a relief. Within 30 minutes, the doctor arrived. The concierge staff went above and beyond in every way. They made sure I safely found an ATM to get cash for the doctor, helped us extend our stay when it was clear my husband was too unwell to travel, and even located a 24-hour pharmacy for us. When I asked where I could find soup for him, the chef himself prepared a warm bowl of chicken soup and sent it to our room. We are forever indebted to this hotel and their incredible team. Their kindness, care, and compassion got us through one of the most stressful 48 hours of our lives. I cannot recommend this hotel enough — they are truly deserving of every booking, every guest, and all the praise they receive. ❤️

One of the most beautiful and unique hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Each room is inspired by a culturally influential Portuguese figure and the decor is wonderful. They also upgraded me for free to the presidential suite and I very much appreciated the welcome treats! Location was perfect for me as it was close to the luggage storage I used.

Beautiful hotel in a great Porto location. The service was incredible. Amazing breakfast. A special shout out to Bruna who checked us in and Claudio who was kind enough to provide us with a glass of port at the end of our evening. Both employees went above and beyond for us and we greatly appreciate it.

Loved our stay at this lovely hotel. The rooms, breakfast in the Blind cafe and drinks in the bar were excellent. The service was excellent and accommodating as well. The barman that likes to ride bikes was especially kind as we had a 12 hour flight delay and had snacks and sodas a few times. The staff allowed us to freshen up and change after we needed to check out but toured Porto a bit due to a flight delay. Much appreciated!

Beautiful hotel, wonderful hospitality and location, with awesome breakfast. While the room was gorgeous, it had several maintenance issues: the towel bar fell off the wall of the shower, one nightstand lamp was falling apart and barely stood up, we couldn't figure out how the hot tub drained and found broken glass on the patio and both electrical outlets were falling out of the wall in the bathroom.

We had a wonderful stay at the boutique Torel Palace Porto. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. This historic site, a former palace converted to a boutique hotel, was the perfect choice for my husband, who loves literature. Every room is named after a Portuguese author, and we were thrilled with the "Royal Suite", which was spacious and ornate. With plenty of room to unpack and move around, it was ideal for our family of three. Our windows offered a stunning view of a charming narrow street lined with colorful tiled buildings. The literary theme continued on the first floor with hanging books and a library. We also enjoyed the port tasting, a small-group experience that was both instructive and delicious. Dinner at 1 Michelin-starred Blind was fantastic and fun! We highly recommend this hotel for its well-rounded excellence in service, decor, staff, food, and location.

I can’t comment on the rooms but the staff is absolutely incredible. They had a flood and couldn’t connect with us prior so when we got there they hustled to find us other accommodations we were happy with. Tiego and Bruna are kind and wonderful.
