"This was once the family home of German architect Ernst Zillers, who came to Athens to design some of the city’s public buildings, fell in love and then spent the rest of his life here. The building, situated next to the city’s Orthodox cathedral and converted into a hotel (Zillers Boutique Hotel), boasts a rooftop terrace and a multi-purpose Roof Garden with fine views of the cathedral and Acropolis. During the day it serves light meals and snacks; however, in the evening the space is transformed into the culinary realm of chef Pavlos Kiriakis, who offers two contemporary tasting menus on which he showcases his “creative philosophy that reinterprets high-quality ingredients and traditions in a contemporary way ”. He also hosts his renowned ‘Four Hands Dinners’, working with other leading chefs." - Michelin Inspector

"The Zillers, at the foot of the AcropolisRight in the centre of Athens, opposite the cathedral, this charming boutique hotel occupies an elegant neo-Classical building. The restaurant The Zillers resides on the enchanting terrace hidden away on the rooftop, set in a verdant roof garden with an unbeatable view of the Acropolis. During dinner, the temples of the Parthenon gradually light up, creating a mood of great mystery.Having clocked up experience working for Pierre Gagnaire and at the restaurant Azurmendi, chef Pavlos Kiriakis took the helm in 2019. His efforts have since been rewarded with a MICHELIN star ! The atmosphere may remain intimate and laid back, but the food is of the highest standard. His delicately presented dishes showcase delightfully subtle flavours : for example, prawn carpaccio with a bergamot jus or turbot with cockles and asparagus with Greek caviar… A really nice touch is the trolley from which you can choose your own extra virgin olive oil for your meal. The pastries are created by Georgios Platinos (previously working with Parisian patisserie Gilles Marchal) and the 100-strong selection of Greek wines is complemented by a few finds from further afield." - MICHELIN Guide

"The Zillers Athens Hotel A neoclassical building in Plaka thoughtfully renovated into a boutique hotel, the ZIllers has ten guest rooms and a rooftop restaurant and bar. The building was designed by Ernst Ziller, a German architect whose work can be seen all around Greece, notably at Athens’ National Theatre, Presidential Mansion, and the Goulandris Museum of Cycladic Art. The original high ceilings, wood floors, and wrought iron-balconies have been retained and refreshed with a modern minimalist decor. While value priced, rooms with atrium views can be dark and Acropolis views are worth the upgrade. Rates include breakfast served in room or on the rooftop, book ahead for dining at other times as it is popular with locals. The contemporary Greek menu might include shrimp with buffalo milk couscous or sea bass in a dill and lime foam, plus innovative desserts like Greek coffee mousse with olive oil jelly. Location is also faultless, overlooking the Athens Cathedral, and a five-minute walk from Monastiraki or Syntagma Square."

We decided to treat ourselves while in Athens, so we reserved a room at The Zillers for two nights. It was worth every penny! The room and bathroom were stunning - with an incredible view of the Acropolis. The staff were outstanding. We never had better customer service. The breakfast couldn't have been better. We got to select from an extensive menu, and everything was delicious - fruit, pastries, yogurt, toast, coffee, fresh orange juice. I wish we could have stayed longer. It was a great way to end our dream vacation in Greece. Thank you to everyone at The Zillers!

One of the better Michelin star restaurants we’ve been to. The dishes are complex with in depth flavour. We felt is higher quality than a two-star restaurant we’ve been to. Service is impeccable, with sunning sunset view of the Acropolis. Not to mention the price is super competitive, is a great value meal.

I only had a night in Athens and thanks to their tasting menu I feel like I travelled all around Greece. Amazing food, fantastic presentation and the best service. The wines were also really special. One of those places where you feel your money has been well spent. I did not stay at the hotel so cannot comment on that.

I booked this place three months in advance for our last dinner in Athens since it’s rated with one Michelin star and has a great view of the Acropolis. We were the first people to arrive for the 7pm seating and we were seated in the back. When I requested a table with a view (one of the main reasons we booked this placed) the male host rejected our request. He told us it was going to rain so we were better at the back. Funny enough, the next couple was given a table at the front, and so were the next guests (and of course, there was no rain). This was really disappointing, at the time of booking there was no guarantee for a table at the front, but given we were the first ones there I would’ve guessed they could’ve accommodate us the same way they did all of the next guests. I was not expecting this kind of treatment on a Michelin place so I would not recommend and will not be going back. Service was also really lacking throughout the night. It seems that the people working there do not enjoy doing this for a living. I will say that the only positive was the food, props to the chefs.

We enjoyed a great evening at the Zillers restaurant. The 13 course dinner was full of flavours of which the prawn carpaccio was my absolute favorite. It was accompanied by a wine tasting menu and a super view on the Akropolis. Friendly and professional staff who ensured a great a relaxed atmosphere. The bread was considered as a actual course which was slightly disappointing but apart from that, I can only recommend this place. At last, we arrived at 19:30 which allowed us to still enjoy the sun and slowly saw the evening fall over the city.

We had a lovely birthday dinner at the Zillers Rooftop Gastronomy. The service was amazing and the food was very fresh snd creative. Notable dishes were the prawn dishes which were so fresh and juicy, the homemade bread was also spectacular, super fluffy and crispy. Unfortunately the Guineafowl was not well received by the table, yet we liked the creativity and idea of the dish. Overall the food was phenomenal, the freshness of the ingredients really shined through and the delicate balance of spice did not overwhelm the flavour. A well deserved Michelin star restaurant! The vibe was immaculate as well. The view of the acropolis (especially during sunset) creates the most beautiful dining experience. Perfect for special occasions!

Great location in the heart of Plaka and friendly staff, but the room was a major disappointment. It was dirty, the floor outside the shower was rotting, and ants were everywhere. The toilet and shower were in separate glass rooms with grimy pull-down blinds for privacy — not hygienic or comfortable. When we complained, the manager offered a different room for €60 more per night, on top of the €350 we were already paying. One of the worst hotel rooms I’ve experienced — not worth the price.

It has been a wonderful experience a weekend before Christmas! We were welcomed nicely at the entrance by Ms. Christina, who showed me the room and was happy to give tipps and help finding locations. The breakfasts as well, as the dinner are extraordinary, including the service. The room service has done their job very well too. The rooms are VERY comfortable, everything works, there is plenty of room. I would only take half a star off, if I could, because we could not ventilate the rooms well, as the windows were towards the inside, the staircase. It was a quiet room. I sleep well, yet if someone doesn't: You hear all the noises, created by late home comers. The city center is, of course, a perfect location, especially, as the underground station is close and the shopping pedestrian zone.
